    Poncho and Casteneda were Incredible!

by timbales on 6/12/10Carter Barron Amphitheatre - Washington

What an incredible musical experience under the heavens. Casteneda and Sanchez are amazing musicians and soulful artists that pour their heart and soul into the music. It filled the air with rhythms from around the world. My husband and my best friend attended and we did not want it to end. What an amazing evening. Please continue in this vein of bringing in Latino artists.

Excellent, and I'm not even a fan of Latin music!

by Revel8R on 6/12/10Carter Barron Amphitheatre - Washington

Even though there was a lot going on, as is typical of Latin music, it wasn't "busy". Carter Barron theater is a great venue. What a great night!

Seeing Poncho again was great. Being from Orange County and a regular at Steamer's Cafe I had a great time at the show. Love the new album.

Poncho was Poncho - great as usual

by Jazzguys on 5/3/10Lincoln Theatre - COLUMBUS

He started 20 minutes late which was only excused because his band is so good. Excellent selection of tunes, plus energy level was up and stayed that way. His conga solos were syncopated, complicated jazz, not typical straight latin. Wish the performance could have had a break and a second half (translation - more playing time).

This was an awesome concert. Without a doubt, a 5 STAR presentation!!! The sound was great and every player was in sync throughout the whole concert. The event was well organized and very professional. Poncho is a great and extremely humble artist. I can't wait 'till next year!

    Latin jazz at it's finest!

by butterjivedotcom on 3/20/10Berks Jazz Fest - Reading

Right from the start we knew we were in for a treat. You just knew you were about to have a great time. Poncho and the Latin Jazz Band truely enjoy what they do and it shows in every note or beat they play. With an eclectic mix of salsa, blues, soul and straightahead jazz, there's something in a Poncho Sanchez Latin Jazz Band for everyone. I would highly recommend seeing these guys do their thing and do it better than anyone around today. BEWARE!!!! You may actually find yourself dancing in your seat and smiling from ear to ear.

    Poncho Sanchez - congero maestro

by TheoldestMichaelhere on 9/28/09TCC Leo Rich Theatre - Tucson - Tucson

The concert on Friday, September 25, 2009 was superb. The hall was just the right size, the sound was excellent, as I sat literally in front of the sound board. All that percussion is not easy to balance, along with having the bass notes actually be distinct. Bravo! This night was an example of a master practicing. The openness and freedom the players have always comes from the leader, and it showed. The arrangements were tight and disciplined when that was called for. When the maestro had something to 'say', everyone on stage and off listened. After a life time of recording and the wide range of musical styles Poncho has mastered, the only disappointment could have been there just wasn't enough time to sample more. I said 'could' because the set list still managed that unlikely feat. If this is the beginning of a tour to support the new album, I'd love to hear that last night of the tour!

Great concert, great crowd, lot's of dancing!

by LongTimePonchoFan on 9/26/09TCC Leo Rich Theatre - Tucson - Tucson

This concert was like being at a wedding where everybody is talking & dancing with each other on the floor. Thanks to those two women who helped get the dance floor going. They got my boy friend up and dancing. The music was great as usual. He did not play any of the tunes he did with Mongo Santamaria, which was a disappointment, but all the music was good.

    Poncho is the honcho

by Eli54 on 9/26/09TCC Leo Rich Theatre - Tucson - Tucson

Great venue for a very tight band. Poncho has a deep rich voice that blends well with his orchestra. The trombone player was out of this world. The timbales were very syncopated and awesome. Salsa music at its best. Enjoyed the show.

    A Smashing Success

by EasyMac on 7/11/09The Conga Room - Los Angeles

Poncho Sanchez took stage and set the room on fire with syncopated rhythms, dazzling drum-work, and soulful vocals. The band dazzled the audience with crisp tight accents designed to drive the Latin party themes home. My favorite part of the show was when Poncho added a salsa twist to some rhythm and blues standards and disco favorites. He dominated the show with his infusion of mature interpretations of salsa classics designed to drive the fortunate few into frenzied gyrations and pulsating sexy dance moves. Count it all joy. Poncho was Awesome!!!!!
