Poison in Concert

Helping bring commercial metal to the masses since the early '80s, Poison remain at the top of their game well into the current decade. Their Glam-a-Geddon tour in 2011 commemorating their 25th anniversary was a huge success, reflecting the band's now legendary status as a forerunner of American pop-metal. The same can be said for their 2012 tour with fellow rockers Def Leppard. Poison's live shows often combine raucous fun with serious musical entertainment. Ticket buyers were in for a night of loud, high-energy concert rock, not to mention the onstage antics of the notorious C.C. Deville, whose amazing guitar solos are known to exceed nine minutes. Poison's 2011 Double Dose: Ultimate HIts compilation album preceded their summer tour and features all their hit singles that topped music charts.

It began in 1984, with frontman Bret Michaels, bassist Bobby Dall and drummer Rikki Rockett. Deville joined the band shortly thereafter, and the spirit of Poison was born. The glam fashion and metal attitude were a surprisingly effective mix. The 1986 hit Look What the Cat Dragged sold over two million copies, peaking at No. 3 on the Billboard Top 200. With the release of 1988's Open Up and Say... Ahhh!, the super-smash anthem "Every Rose Has Its Thorn" cemented Poison firmly in their place in musical history. Their 2002 album Hollyweird reunited the band's original lineup after years following a falling-out among members. The reunion seems to have reinvigorated Poison, as it holds true to everything the band ever was and everything it ever will be in the public's eye. Songs like "Wishful Thinkin'" and the title track are hard-driving, good-old-fashioned rock and roll with a pop-metal edge. Fans could not ask for anything more, and a whole new generation of fans got a good glimpse of what the legendary Poison was all about.

Poison's 25th Anniversary Kickoff was AMAZING!

by PedsNursesRock on 5/27/11BancorpSouth Arena - Tupelo

The kickoff show for Poison's 25th anniversary in Tupelo, Mississippi was amazing! We bought tickets the second they were available online and got the VIP Afterparty passes we wanted. The show was amazing...they sound as awesome as they ever did! Brett Michaels and the entire band were very nice and showed Tupelo a great time at Bancorpsouth Arena. The afterparty was everything we expected with photo opportunites with every member of the band. The people of Tupelo were thrilled that a hometown rock band (the Spunk Monkees) were invited to be the opening act for this show. This is a must see show!

The Poison show was absolutely AMAZING!! Hated to see it end. I hope that BCSA can get them to come back. Warrant and Spunk Munkees were delightful as well. I had not see/heard the local band, spunk Munkees, but glad I have now, they were really good.

Don't play at BanCorp Arena in Tupel, MS again

    by 1mouse2 on 5/27/11BancorpSouth Arena - Tupelo

Poison is way too good of a band to play in the small BanCorp South Arena at Tupelo, MS. The sound system/Speakers etc.. are not good at all. We sat on the side of the stage and couldn't understand what Bret said or talked about. We could understand the songs because we automatically new them by heart. Poison should play big forums and coliseums. This is the 2nd time I've seen them and they were still great. I hope to see them again

    Great show, horrible seating

    by Thespis377 on 5/27/11BancorpSouth Arena - Tupelo

I thought Poison, Warrant and Spunk Monkees(local Tupelo, MS band) put on an amazing show! I personally felt that the music was amazing. The audio was great as long as Brett didn't have the acoustic guitar. They had some feedback issues with it, but it wasn't horrible. The lighting was excellent as well. I would recommend that anyone wanting to go see Poison during this tour should go.

    Disappointing

by SadlyDisappointing on 5/26/11Snowden Grove Amphitheatre - Southaven

The venue was good, concessions average, but the quality of the show was disappointing. Whitesnake came out and one they shouldve stuck with more of the older stuff that everyone wanted to hear, and second I don't know what was going on, but the whole band got off stage for almost 30 minutes and left us listening to Guitar rift solo's (like 10 of them) and several drum solos. Which would've been good for a few minutes, but not for 30 minutes!? It was enough to want to get up and leave. It was very disappointing.
