    Plaid Tidings = Good Tidings

by PLAIDFAN on 12/21/09Pheasant Run - St Charles

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the comedy/musical. We would highly recommend it for the whole family. Those 50 and over would get a little more out of it then the younger set but it is enjoyable for all. The only thing I won't do again is seats in the front row. As much as it was nice to have that close contact sometimes we had to keep looking up so we were not looking at their ankles. I will keep my "business card" as a memento from the show. Happy Holidays!

    Must see!

This show was hilarious, entertaining, enjoyable and highly imaginative! The voices blended beautifully and the comedy/skits had us in stitches. I would highly recommend this show, or probably any show given by these entertainers. A wonderful way to spend an evening!

    Plaid Tidings...a disappointment

by CASA1928 on 12/12/09Pheasant Run - St Charles

Having enjoyed the outstanding singing in "Forever Plaid" at Lincolnshire several years ago, we went to "Plaid Tidings" expecting an evening of fantastic harmony. While these young men are individually good singers, their voices do not blend well and the frenetic choreography that they were required to perform was very disruptive to good harmonization. The contrived, non-sensical story line usually is compensated for by the singing but not here. The fast paced, highly intellectual dialogue had Smudge constantly stumbling over his words. There are some really funny moments/songs such as the International Merry Christmas songs, the bell choir, the Ed Sullivan show parody and the notes that showed up an all kinds of places. The men's diverse talents were showcased during their solos and instrument playing. Otherwise the performance was frenetic, overly slapstick, and disjointed. The evening was entertaining but nothing I would tell my friends is a "must see."

    Plaid Tidings

Clever musical arrangements sung by a terrific cast. The small (intimate) theatre and simple set design serve the show very well. Especially enjoyable for those old enough to remember Ed Sullivan and Perry Como.

Our party of 4 enjoyed this production very much. The guys were a little hesitant about the show at first but they thoroughly enjoyed all the music. The Ed Sullivan review kept us laughing. I would definetly recommend getting to this fine show.

Plaid Tidings was lots of fun!

by theatrebuff2 on 11/30/09Pheasant Run - St Charles

We didn't know what to expect as we had never seen the prequel Forever Plaid, but we loved this production. It was a very high-energy two hours. Our favorite part was the 3-minute version of the Ed Sullivan Show. Very funny. Even the teenager sitting next to us who no doubt had never even heard of the Ed Sullivan Show was laughing all the way through it. The music was also flawless. Great pianist and bass player and 4 great voices! A fun way to celebrate the holidays!

    mild recommendation

I hadn't seen Forever Plaid though I want to. I enjoyed this show. The cast was good, professional, decent chemistry. I enjoyed it, but didn't think it was amazing. A pleasant night out. It wasn't a disappointment, I guess I was hoping for a bit of a better story and better songs. Also, the arrangements of the holiday songs were creative, but not incredibly impressive or inspiring. I don't think a whole lot of thought went into the story. I would have preferred to hear harmonized versions of the real songs. Like I said - it was pleasant and enjoyable for an evening out. Saw the show at Pheasant Run, St. Charles, IL on 11/13/09.
