    disappointed Fan

by Pancho58 on 1/31/18Lila Cockrell Theater - San Antonio

Mixed feelings. Somewhat disappointed. First the cancelled original date without clear cause. Then they rescheduled without allowing us to pick our seats. There was never introduction of the musicians/symphony. Singers not introduced till very end. All opera songs were never noted. NO PROGRAMS AVAILABLE. would have been more meaningful and interesting had we known what opera he was singing. His accent is strong and English hard to understand even with his Great Voice. LOST THROUGH OUT WHOLE CONCERT. Mr Domingo does not interact with audience. Maybe he really did not want to be here. Audio and acoustics lacking and his voice unappreciable. Its unfortunate that serous attendees who purchased ticket more than 6 months before venue are not considered. His professional accomplishments are not dismissed rather respected. Audience needs respect also. Good luck with future concerts.

    Fading Star

by Ummu on 1/30/18Lila Cockrell Theater - San Antonio

The acoustics were horrendous. Their were some moments of brilliance. However, his son's performances were agonizing, I"m sure Coach Pop would not have suited up Tim Duncan's son for any games. Placido is one of the greats and it is an honor to see him perform. Thanks for the memories!

    Not Slowing Down

by SARunner on 1/30/18Lila Cockrell Theater - San Antonio

Placido Domingo is as good as he has always been! I think I have been to every concert he has done in San Antonio. I was disappointed when the original show was postponed but the wait was worth it. Domingo sang a duet ,"Perhaps Love." with his son. I have that album which Placido produced with John Denver. The copyright date of the album is 1981. Placido sounded just like he did on the album!!! I was also pleased with the venue. Originally, our seats were for Ochctr, Row 112. When we arrived, there was no Row 112. The usher took us to the box office to exchange the tickets. We were given Ochrt, Row 2!!! This was second row from the stage!!!! This was as close as I have ever been to my favorite tenor!!!! The only negative -- no programs!

    Absolutely wonderful...would recommend to everyone

by PLCP1 on 1/28/18Lila Cockrell Theater - San Antonio

Give the show a "5." Placido Sr. was magnificent. Never knew Placido Jr. was so talented. Wonderful voice. Orchestra was a "5." Venue was a "2." Theater is very nice, but the sound was horrible. Once could not hear the words being sung. Volume was much too low for the singers. When Placido spoke, he could not be heard or understood, and we were not very far away. Very disappointing.

Good concert, not happy with my seat

by JustKathy on 1/27/18Lila Cockrell Theater - San Antonio

The concert was originally supposed to be the Alamodome Illusions theatre. I had a seat on the third row towards the center. When the venue was changed to the Lila Cockrell theatre, I was assigned a seat on the seventh row, to the far right, almost to the end of the row. It was far inferior to my original seat. What's more, it was clear that they had put some patrons in the center, others to the far sides, and MANY seats in the middle of each row that no one ever sat in. It was clear that they were trying to sell those seats at a higher price, rather than give their customers that had already purchased tickets a seat equivalent to the one they had already chosen. This leaves an extremely bad taste in my mouth. I don't know who controlled that - probably Placido Domingo's business managers - but I wanted to let them know I thought that was extremely unfair and shady and I would never attend another of his concerts because of that. Eventually I moved into a slightly better seat in one of the many empty unsold seats, but it was still not nearly as close as I should have been. Shame on you. Oh, the concert was fine. Much different than I expected. PD sang only about a third of the time. The rest of the time it was either the symphony or other singers. They were good, but not who I paid over $350 to see. Another reason I wouldn't do it again.

    2nd half of performance disappointing

by Operaguest on 1/27/18Lila Cockrell Theater - San Antonio

Loved the 1st part and did not care for 2nd half. Musical instruments over powered singers. Sub par acoustics unless u sit in the very front. Lastly, Opera singers should not be trying to sing pop songs with their vibrato voices.

    Fabulous evening!

by PammySue1 on 1/27/18Lila Cockrell Theater - San Antonio

A very special treat to hear Placido live. Amazing voice even at age 77... Very nice to see how gracious, humble, and friendly he was at the reception even after a 3-hour show. SA Symphony was great, as was Ana Maria Martinez. Fun to see Placido's son sing with him, too. (Ally Brook from SA has a good voice but a very poor choice of clothing, boobies about to fall out and she couldn't walk in her gown, no class, looked slutty.) If you ever have the opportunity to attend a concert of Placido's, do not miss it! The small venue made it especially intimate, just a perfect evening.

Great show from the music play by the orchestra to the opera to pop sang by Placido. One of the most beautiful voices.

    Great concer

by Chatica on 1/27/18Lila Cockrell Theater - San Antonio

Loved the performance. The only thing that my husband and I did not like was that we were not given a program. There was not an MC to let us know which piece Placido was going to sing, so we were lost since most of the music was opera. We would have loved more "popular songs" which we know he signs, but it was still beautiful, his voice is incredible.

Placido Domingo at 75 still amazing!

by fanofArjona on 2/5/16AmericanAirlines Arena - Miami

It was a wonderful show, less operatic than I had expected but wonderful. At 75 his voice was still the strongest on the stage - Amazing! He also presented two female singers with him and a special presentation from Juanes. I had heard that Juanes was going to be there and was so excited when I saw him. I loved the show - I had never seen Placido Domingo live before and was not disappointed. I loved the fact that he also alternated with a few popular songs. The last segment of the show was a full mariachi band and several mariachi songs. It was a really fun way to end the show. And at the end the Mariachi led the audience in song wishing him a happy birthday.

Plácido Domingo displayed his talent and versatility. The concert started out with opera pieces (as expected) and later included Zarzuela, Broadway, Country Music, Tango, Classic Latin American Music (Siboney), and even Mexican Rancheras! His guests were not only two great sopranos, but also Juanes and a Mariachi Band. Undoubtedly the best concert I have been to in a while!

    Still a great tenor!

by OnlyinMiami on 2/1/16AmericanAirlines Arena - Miami

Since the concert was in Miami with many latins attending, it would have been nice to hear more sons in Spanish. Only disappointment, he did not sing Granada, my favorite as well as my guest. The Miami Symphony orchestra was sensational.
