The Thunderbirds at Highmark are about the best sports for the money in Pittsburgh. It's always fun and family friendly. They have giveaways and an overall great vibe. The only thing missing is bigger crowds..... Which is where you come in.
Our family had an absolute blast cheering on the Thunderbirds as they took on the Detroit Mechanix. The game was filled with a ton of athletic plays. These guys can really fly! The atmosphere was very lively thanks to the Thunderbirds on-field emcee who helped keep the crowd engaged. One of the highlights for us was the game during the 3rd quarter where you could win cash prizes by tossing a mini frisbee into a bucket. It was such a fun and interactive addition to the event! My kids had fun even though we didn't win lol! And can I just say, it was such a relief that my kids could get in for free since they're under 8. It made the whole experience even more enjoyable and stress-free for us as parents.
We were truly blown away by the experience. I would say it was on par with minor league baseball - live music, giveaways, an on-field emcee, video board, concessions, merch, etc. The crowd was lively, the game was entertaining, and the views of the Pittsburgh skyline across the river were beautiful. Pittsburgh is setting the bar for the professional ultimate fan experience.
Thunderbirds games are a great time!! Such a great value for the ticket price. The last event even had a live band performing pregame and at half time and balloon animals! Kids are free and my kids love coming to these games. Highly recommended for a fun summer evening in Pittsburgh.
Saw this team several years ago when they played at Cupples Stadium and now most recently at a half time exhibition show at a Riverhounds game at Highmark. What great entertainment. There is a lot of action and athleticism on display and just an overall fun experience. Highly recommend

Overall, I enjoyed my experience at Highmark Stadium. It felt like a professional experience. The parking was convenient. The only thing that was disappointing was the food selection. I was hoping for more than nachos. Oh well.
The Thunderbirds game was exciting and very entertaining. The outcome came down to the final play. The players are highly skilled, gave it their all and both teams made a number of excellent, athletic plays.
Highmark Stadium is a great venue for ultimate and I'm intending to watch soccer there too. One can see a spectacular view of our city by looking across the field and occasional passing trains only adds to the ambience. Tickets were very inexpensive and the game itself was priceless with plenty of excitement culminating with a very well deserved Thunderbird victory. The on field MC kept the action flowing and the audience well informed and enthused.
