About

The Pittsburgh Panthers baseball team is a varsity intercollegiate athletic team of the University of Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The team competes in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I. The Panthers play their home games at Charles L. Cost Field, which is located on the university's campus.

The Panthers have won one ACC championship, in 2013. They have also appeared in the NCAA Tournament over 15 times.

The Panthers have had a number of players who have gone on to play professional baseball, including Ken Macha, an infielder who played for the University of Pittsburgh Panthers. After his college career, he went on to play in the minor leagues but did not reach the MLB as a player. However, Macha had a successful career as a manager, including a stint as the manager of the Oakland Athletics from 2003 to 2006.

Right-handed pitcher T. J. Zeuch also had an impressive collegiate career before being selected by the Toronto Blue Jays in the first round of the 2016 MLB Draft. Zeuch made his MLB debut with the Blue Jays on September 17, 2019. He became known for his sinkerball and ground-ball-inducing abilities. In 2020, Zeuch achieved a significant milestone by throwing a no-hitter against the Miami Marlins, becoming the third pitcher in Blue Jays history to accomplish this feat.

The Panthers have played their home games at Charles L. Cost Field since 1999. The stadium is named after Charles L. Cost, who was the head baseball coach for the Panthers from 1960 to 1998. Charles L. Cost Field has a capacity of 3,000 people.
