    Doo Wop Anniversary

by jpilarsk on 12/12/11CONSOL Energy Center - Pittsburgh

I've seen better Doo Wop shows, and for this being an Anniversary Special, it should have more headliners. Furthermore, the accustics were not great in the Consol Energy Center for a concert.

    Doo Wop sure is fun!

by JjjGgg on 12/12/11CONSOL Energy Center - Pittsburgh

Doo Wop music is so uplifting, so entertaining, so filled with energy. We very much enjoyed the music. I only wish we could hear when the folks on state were talking to the audience. Early in the show the microphones needed to be adjusted so each of the performers could be heard, and that was mastered before the next act. However, we could never hear the discussion between acts. Perhaps it was only a problem with the floor seats, since everyone else in the arena was able to respond.

    Doo Wop

by Shawn09 on 12/12/11CONSOL Energy Center - Pittsburgh

The show was great. The singers were enjoying the show as much as the audience. To have the opportunity to see some of the singers all together is something that may not happen again! I would not suggest paying the extra for floor seats, but to go to the show, I highly suggest.

    Planatones were great!

by Lilyjude1 on 12/12/11CONSOL Energy Center - Pittsburgh

Loved the show. Kenny Vance and Planatones was great as usual. Love to see them in person and it was worth the "price of admission." They are keeping the music alive. Only negative comment is that we were sitting in Section 104 and the groups played to the other side of the facility.

My wife and I thought this was the best one yet. it was very entertaining night. I didn't want the night to end looking forward to next year.the only problem myself and others had was why didn't the groups use or rotate the four sides of the stage?

    Doo Wop?

by Deliaplum on 12/12/11CONSOL Energy Center - Pittsburgh

seemed to be more 50's/60's music as opposed to specifically Doo Wop. It was entertaining yet very hard to hear what any act was saying. You could hear the singing just fine, but could not hear what anyone was saying at all. Young girl that opened the show seemed out of place - she sang NO doo wop. I most likely will not attend another Doo Wop show and definitely will not do so at Consol Energy Center - too big a venue for this type of show.

The main reason for the poor rating was the extremely poor sound system. Some of the acts were not very good and some were great. I have attended Richard Nader shows prior to this one and have never experienced such poor planning and show content.

    Watse of $$$$$$$

by DocsLady1 on 12/11/11CONSOL Energy Center - Pittsburgh

This was one of the WORSE concerts I have ever attended. I am a avid Doo Wop person & I will NEVER attend a Richard Nader Production concert again!!! I had front row seats on the floor & exepected to see a great show. Instead I sat in a cold arena with my coat on all evening and saw POOR performances. They had the band in a pit area which could not be seen from the floor. There was a change in the performers that were suppose to attend. The ones I wanted to see did not show up. The tickets were purchased in May, 2011 - first day they went on sale. Had I know who was actually going to be there I would not have spent the money to purchase the top notch tickets. Their was no crowd interaction. I was so frustrated that I sent a email to the production home office. A refund should be issued to everyone (including me) that attended - it was not worth the money!! A VERY DISAPPOINTING concert.

Doo Wop Better Than A Flop

by jerrynchar on 12/11/11CONSOL Energy Center - Pittsburgh

This show was my gift to my husband for his birthday. While it was not a flop - it was not outstanding, either. It was a nice evening - due to the fact that we were so close to the stage. Being able to actually see the artists faces was a boon. We were given completely WRONG directions on how to get to our seats by a friendly usher - and that was a bit frustrating. The seating was "tight" - chairs were far too close together on the floor (for the price) and the seats in the stands looked to be more comfortable. I realize that the performers are all aging - but they still did a very nice job - especially Kenny Vance and the Planotones - and Eddie Holman should have done twice the tunes! His set was too short, to be sure! As for the opening act...I am sorry to say that I cannot remember the little girl's name - having programs would have been helpful - but a 15 year old girl singing tunes such as "I Will Survive" just didn't seem to fit the billing for the evening. Age and style made the opening act inappropriate - her voice was nice for her age - just not the venue for her. To be very honest, the opening act, combined with the fact that the sound system was not the best (although some acts seemed to sound better as the show progressed) made me very concerned that I may have wasted money on this event. Once Eddie Holman began his set, I felt better about the effort made to give my hubby a gift of the music he so loves. Because HE was happy - I was able to be happy about spending the money.

    Kenny Vance is awesome

by JoyBrun on 12/11/11CONSOL Energy Center - Pittsburgh

This is our second Doo Wop concert and it was wonderful yet again. My husband and I got married last year on December 3 and then went to the concert, what a wonderful wedding day. This year the concert was a day before my birthday and, yet again, it was an awesome birthday present. We will definitely attend every year from now on. There really are no bad seats at the Consol Center. The sound was great also, not too loud, just right. Can't wait until next year.

A very entertaining show! All of the acts were great. The sound system was not acceptable when they were talking. The lighting was very good. The chicken tenders on the menu were overlybreaded and overcooked The popcorn was good. The tonic water was overpriced. The center was too cold.

    Doo Wop Reunion

by Anonymous on 12/11/11CONSOL Energy Center - Pittsburgh

The music was great! Our only complaint was that the final two acts did not face us during the performance - mostly we were looking at their backside! Every other performer made sure to face all parts of the audience during their time on stage. That is why I gave 4 stars instead of 5!

Doo Wop was Cray, Cray as my kids would put it!

by MoRiDe on 12/11/11CONSOL Energy Center - Pittsburgh

Even though this music was my parents generation, my husband and I truly enjoyed it. At one point I called my mother and let her listen to the music. She loved it. Next time Doo Wop is in Pittsburgh I will definitely bring her.

too much oldies not enough Doo Wop

by Anonymous on 12/11/11CONSOL Energy Center - Pittsburgh

This concert was okay with a few high points but the title was misleading. This was an oldies concert not a Doo Wop cncert.
