Philadelphia Flyers History
The Flyers, who joined the NHL in 1967 when the league expanded from the Original Six, became a dominant force in the 1970s, earning the nickname "The Broad Street Bullies" for their physical style of play. Starting with the 1972-1973 season, the Flyers amassed 18 consecutive Playoff appearances, propelled by the likes of three-time MVP Bobby Clarke, Reggie Leach, and left winger Bill Barber.
The team won back-to-back Stanley Cup Championships, defeating the Boston Bruins in six games in 1974 and the Buffalo Sabres in six games in 1975. A bid for a third consecutive Cup fell short when the Flyers were swept in the finals by the Montreal Canadiens. In the 13 seasons that followed, the Flyers led the league in points twice and reached the finals three more times. During the 1979-1980 season, they set a record by going 35 consecutive games without a loss.
Sparked by forwards Tim Kerr and Brian Propp, the Flyers returned to the finals in 1985 and 1987, but were denied the title each time by the Edmonton Oilers. Behind the "Legion of Doom" line of center Eric Lindros, left winger John LeClair, and right winger Mikael Renberg, the Flyers made their seventh Stanley Cup Finals appearance in team history.
The Flyers continued to be a force well into the next decade, never missing the Playoffs. They had one more shot at a Stanley Cup Championship in 2009-2010, coming back from down 3-0 in the conference semifinals to beat Boston en route to a finals berth against Chicago. The Blackhawks prevailed in six games. To date, the Flyers have made it to the Playoffs a total of 40 times.

Philadelphia Flyers at Wells Fargo Center
Since opening in 1996, Wells Fargo Center has become one of the busiest arenas in the world. Aside from serving as the home ice for the Philadelphia Flyers, Wells Fargo Center, also known just as "The Center," is also the home court for NBA's Philadelphia 76ers and home of the National Lacrosse League's Philadelphia Wings. The Wells Fargo Center first opened its doors on August 31, 1996, to host the World Cup of Hockey, and has since hosted a variety of events, including the 2001 NBA Finals, and the Stanley Cup Final in 1997 and 2010.
The Philadelphia Flyers’ 2023–24 regular season kicks off in October at Nationwide Arena, when the Flyers face off against the Columbus Blue Jackets. The Flyers will participate in the 2024 Navy Federal Credit Union NHL Stadium Series — hosted at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey — against the New Jersey Devils on February 17. They play their final game of the regular season at home against Metropolitan Division rivals the Washington Capitals. Here’s a list of key games to keep an eye on:
Tickets for the 2023–24 regular season can be purchased on Ticketmaster, the Official Ticket Marketplace of the Philadelphia Flyers.
For the 2023–24 season, the Philadelphia Flyers will sport new uniforms showcasing their distinctive burnt orange team color, while incorporating design elements from the team’s past. According to Philadelphia Flyers Governor Daniel J. Hilferty, the updated jersey ushers in a “New Era of Orange” and marks the team’s first uniform change since 2010.
The Flyers have made eight appearances in the Stanley Cup Final, and have won the Stanley Cup two times (in 1974 and 1975).

First Flyers game in a long time. Really enjoyed it. Saw Recchi honored, big fan. If you haven't been there recently, bring ear plugs, it is unbelievably loud inside the arena. Only complaint.
I always enjoy going to events but as taking a friend for the first time - I didn’t pay “all of the money” for tickets. We sat 2nd row in section 212, first of all your drinks are not secure in the cup holder. The size of the seats are way too small. That is my reason for a 2* review. The price of these tickets does not reflect the comfort what so ever. Anyway flyers atmosphere is always fun and they won!
Great experience in every way. Seat location/Food/Concession Stands
I've been a fan of the Philadelphia Flyers since I've known what a hockey puck was. I love the sport of hockey, and most of all I love the Philadelphia Flyers. The last game that I attended was Thursday February 8, 2024 and it was one of the most satisfying games that I've attended thus far.
The game was awesome, the people were great. Great seats. Definitely would do it again.
It was a fun time. It was really cool seeing the past players.
I throughly enjoyed the game. We got to see some real legends of Philadelphia Flyers Hockey. Especially seeing Joe Watson out on the ice playing. Great to see Mike Richard's back in a Flyer's jersey again.
Great time going to a Bruins road game and seeing a win. Spent the weekend in Philadelphia with my son and enjoyed it a lot.
The electricity in the air was amazing! Having lived S. Philly most of my life,(Broad and Wolf} I was fortunate enough to be at both Stanley Cup parades! This alumni game brought me back to those special days. Lindros, LeClair and Recchi never missed a beat! They were, in my opinion one of the greatest lines ever! Beyond happy that I attended this memorable event!
It was a great game. I took my sons 14 and 8. I was going for myself but they loved it as much if not more.
The Flyers Alumni Game & 50 year anniversary tribute to their back-to-back Stanley Cup victories was the best time I've ever had at Wells Fargo arena. Seeing the hockey legends, enjoying the game & being about 3 feet away from my all- time favorite player, John LeClair, was a memory I'll cherish forever.
The Flyers put on an excellent performance but the pre-game ceremonies took far too long. The team played well and it was fun to see the camaraderie between the players from different eras.
Watching my hubby meet and chat with his childhood idol, Bernie Parent, at the VIP reception with the Flyer Alumni was beyond words. These players have such a history, beginning with their first Stanley Cup 50 years ago. Joining with ‘younger’ Alumni to meet those of us who attended, they were very friendly and engaging. And some of them were simply hilarious! Then being able to watch the Alumni play against the Bruins Alumni was so entertaining - you could tell they were having so much fun on the ice and on the bench. The event was very well-organized and everyone left smiling!
Such a wonderful experience taking my daughter to her first Flyers game. Not only was it affordable, the seats, venue, and employees were amazing. Please consider lowering the price of regular season games so we can attend again!
Great to see all the alumni flyers again! Hope they do this again in year!
It's great when the Flyers Charities bring out and honor the alumni. No matter where the big club is fans come out for this and they are happy to help raise money for a good cause and have a good time.
Musical story of laughs and tears Temptations'best show I ever saw in my 65 years. Cried during Papa was a Rolling Stone
My kids and I had a blast watching the alumni game. It was great to see players from the past few decades on the ice again.
It was so amazing to see so many classic Flyers players on the ice together! I love re-living some great years when I watched them in their prime. And to see the Stanley Cup in the house was an added bonus. Great seats, great price, great night!
