Philadelphia 76ers History

The Philadelphia 76ers were one of the league's first franchises. Founded in 1946 and playing their first NBA season in 1949, the team was introduced as the Syracuse Nationals and played home games in upstate New York.

After moving to Philadelphia in 1963 and adopting the 76ers moniker in honor of the signing of the Declaration of Independence in the city in 1776, the team has had a prominent history featuring several players who would go on to be inducted into the Pro Basketball Hall of Fame: Dolph Schayes, Hal Greer, Wilt Chamberlain, Billy Cunningham, Bobby Jones, Julius Erving, Maurice Cheeks, Moses Malone, Charles Barkley, and Allen Iverson.

The 76ers have made 52 playoff appearances and earned nine trips to the NBA Finals, winning three World Championships. Chamberlain, Erving, Malone, Iverson and Joel Embiid have all also been named the NBA Most Valuable Player while playing for the 76ers, for a total of seven MVP awards.

The Philadelphia 76ers organization is part of the Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment ownership group.

    Excellent

by CJ on 4/13/22Wells Fargo Center - Philadelphia

Good experience all around. We there an hour and a half early so they wouldn’t let us upstairs to our seats yet, but my dad has bad knees and can’t stand for a long time. Thankfully the usher let us sit down on the bottom section until it was time for us to go to our paid seats. I really enjoyed how much the stadium got the fans involved with the game and had a excellent time! I just wish beer wasn’t $15!! Crazy!!!

    Fan Appreciation Day

by ART on 4/12/22Wells Fargo Center - Philadelphia

Sat in the upper level and no one felt appreciated. If your not in the lower level you don't fell like your involved with fan appreciation. You use to give something to the fans like a towel now nothing. Use to have a station where kids could get face painted. Now nothing

    Best sports experience yet!

by Freddie Z on 4/5/22Wells Fargo Center - Philadelphia

1st NBA game for my family. We had seats in the new Revolutionary Row, it was amazing! Birds eye view of the game with an awesome lounge area. Bars close by that weren't over crowded. Looking forward to our next game already.

    Phil vHeat

by Old fan on 3/24/22Wells Fargo Center - Philadelphia

We needed help finding our seats . Difficult to find an employee. When after finding one, the directions were short and incomplete. Another few minutes. Then next to our seats, grown men sat on top of each other and of course spilled over the single seat. No one moved the second person so it was uncomfortable for my party. Staffing needs to be motivated to help customers.

    Better than before

by DelawareDiva on 3/24/22Wells Fargo Center - Philadelphia

—took my family to see the 76ers vs. Heat game and the energy was ELECTRIFYING! I give credit to the Sixers, its entertainment and its DJ. In a previous visit this year to a Sixers game, I believe the DJ must have been off because there was no hype music. —Sixers, don’t ever let this happen again. All in all, it was a fun, family friendly event. We are looking forward to seeing another Sixers game. GO SIXERS!!

    Excellent!!

by tjpabp on 3/23/22Wells Fargo Center - Philadelphia

Hadn't been down to a game in a few years. I thought the overall experience was great. It really is an event more than just a game. We had a great time, except for the Sixers losing, but that can't be controlled. Overall 4.6 / 5 (always room for improvement)

    Wish it was better

by Michelle on 3/23/22Wells Fargo Center - Philadelphia

We got to the venue before half-time. No one knew where our seats was (Pressbox). We approached multiple employees and they didn’t know where it was. Finally towards the end of 3rd quarter, we got a hold of a supervisor and he was so kind and helpful. He found out seats, so we got to at least watch the 4th quarter. It was such a stressful experience.

    Sixers Standing Room

by Tom on 3/21/22Wells Fargo Center - Philadelphia

Standing room tickets were a very fun way to see a game with friends. We went for a friends birthday and the tickets were affordable and we had the opportunity to stand around and chat AND see the game with perfect sight lines. The assembly room was really nice, easy in easy out, concessions were convenient and there was plenty of room so you weren’t stuck standing behind someone if you got there early enough. Would do again.

    not so great

    by J. K. on 2/3/22Wells Fargo Center - Philadelphia

The game itself was fine. However the whole process of entering the Wells Fargo center was extremely frustrating. Parking lots around the Center were very slow but entering the Center itself was brutal. A mass of hundreds of people trying to enter the 10th Street doors with no real order. You finally squeeze into the building and then you have the vaccine check, move a few feet to get through security, then a few feet more to show your ticket with no real line, just a crush of people. I would say 1/4 of the crowd at least was late getting seated for the game between parking and the entry. There has to be a more organized way to enter.

    Blockage

by Disappointed on 2/1/22Wells Fargo Center - Philadelphia

The sixers themselves were very entertaining. Where the problem lied is I only enjoyed what I could see of the game. The seats that I purchased were positioned right behind a camera which was in my direct view. It should have been advised that this would be an obstacle when the purchase was made. This left a very bad taste.
