Philadelphia 76ers History

The Philadelphia 76ers were one of the league's first franchises. Founded in 1946 and playing their first NBA season in 1949, the team was introduced as the Syracuse Nationals and played home games in upstate New York.

After moving to Philadelphia in 1963 and adopting the 76ers moniker in honor of the signing of the Declaration of Independence in the city in 1776, the team has had a prominent history featuring several players who would go on to be inducted into the Pro Basketball Hall of Fame: Dolph Schayes, Hal Greer, Wilt Chamberlain, Billy Cunningham, Bobby Jones, Julius Erving, Maurice Cheeks, Moses Malone, Charles Barkley, and Allen Iverson.

The 76ers have made 52 playoff appearances and earned nine trips to the NBA Finals, winning three World Championships. Chamberlain, Erving, Malone, Iverson and Joel Embiid have all also been named the NBA Most Valuable Player while playing for the 76ers, for a total of seven MVP awards.

The Philadelphia 76ers organization is part of the Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment ownership group.

    Awesome game poor protocol

by 76ersfanfamily on 12/26/21Wells Fargo Center - Philadelphia

Seats were amazing. Game was energetic. Covid bag policy is ridiculous. Had a small clear stadium approved bag with hardly anything in it. They said it didnt fit in their paper size chart although one month before I entered the same venue with the same bag. Im a rule follower but this was absurd. Then how can people sitting near you go shopping in the store and have 3 big shopping bags and i cant have a crossbody bag on my person that doesnt interfer with anything. Bizarre.

    Horrible

by Fan on 12/14/21Wells Fargo Center - Philadelphia

Revolutionary row are horrible seats. Its out of control as people are constantly walking in front of you while watching the game. The instructions details is once you purchase tickets, you then can sit in any seat! However, 4 almost drunk guys came in at halftime to demand tgeir seats, tgen went and got an usher or security to get us out. I will never attend another game at wells fargo. Crowd was also very obnoxious and we spwnt half a of game standing and watching a tv screen instead of the real game.

    Assembly Room - meh

by Nickname23 on 12/14/21Wells Fargo Center - Philadelphia

Definitely not my first Sixers game but this may be my last time going to assembly room to watch. As far as our group could tell, there were no signs to point us in the right direction as to where this was (other than up). Stairwell was locked at the top and the elevator line was almost 60 yards long. Then the elevator broke and we had to ask multiple employees (who were very helpful) to find another elevator which the line was even longer for. We missed the entire first quarter because of this. Once you’re up there, the bar access and bathroom is a quick trip so I guess that’s a positive.

    Amazing atmosphere!!

    by J. M. on 11/8/21

You couldn’t ask for a better place to see a game. Crowd gets behind the team and brings such positive energy. Kids have a blast.

    Great last minute night out

by Mitch on 11/6/21Wells Fargo Center - Philadelphia

Got the assembly room tickets last minute for a group team building event. The only issue we had was parking. Seemed to move much slower than that of other Philly events. Assembly room was awesome. Good view of the court, ample standing room, ample TVs, nice lounge areas with TVs to still watch the game. Easy to get food and drinks. I would definitely recommend these tickets for any type of fan. We could clearly see Embid’s game winning block!
