Philadelphia 76ers History

The Philadelphia 76ers were one of the league's first franchises. Founded in 1946 and playing their first NBA season in 1949, the team was introduced as the Syracuse Nationals and played home games in upstate New York.

After moving to Philadelphia in 1963 and adopting the 76ers moniker in honor of the signing of the Declaration of Independence in the city in 1776, the team has had a prominent history featuring several players who would go on to be inducted into the Pro Basketball Hall of Fame: Dolph Schayes, Hal Greer, Wilt Chamberlain, Billy Cunningham, Bobby Jones, Julius Erving, Maurice Cheeks, Moses Malone, Charles Barkley, and Allen Iverson.

The 76ers have made 52 playoff appearances and earned nine trips to the NBA Finals, winning three World Championships. Chamberlain, Erving, Malone, Iverson and Joel Embiid have all also been named the NBA Most Valuable Player while playing for the 76ers, for a total of seven MVP awards.

The Philadelphia 76ers organization is part of the Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment ownership group.

    Fun!

by PBL on 1/7/23Wells Fargo Center - Philadelphia

Wells Fargo food has improved and so has the stadium. Sixers are good and game was close the whole time. Our seats were high up, which is fine as that’s what we paid for, but despite the crazy steep seating, the tall guy in front of us still blocked our view.

    Great seats. Exciting Game.

by Pastor Bill on 1/5/23Wells Fargo Center - Philadelphia

Seats we're great however the parking systems is horrible! No directions or signs large enough to give you options for where you should go to park. Traffic backed up with city rush hour traffic 😤 Missed almost the entire 1st quarter and was in the stadium area a half hour before game time. Tickets are pricey but you get what you pay for! Exciting win!

Few weeks ago went to a game with my daughter! She loved it and we sat close to the bench so we could see the players.

    Sixers game

Great fun family night out! Always thought theWells Fargo center is a great venue. The only negative I can mention is the price of concession food and drinks.

Good game, but the noise made it a terrible experience

by Matt on 12/22/22Wells Fargo Center - Philadelphia

Sixers games at the Wells Fargo Center are so loud that they are virtually unbearable. I thought it was just me and my son, but every single person I have talked to since attending a game had the same impression. Some go anyway, but most say it's a one and done experience, because the sound level is way too high. Think of the loudest concert you ever attended and then double the volume. This seems like such a fixable problem.

Game was fine, food so expensive

by StuartL on 12/19/22Wells Fargo Center - Philadelphia

Got there early and neat to see players warm up. Bummer Steph Curry out but what can you do? Did not like 90-percent of music was hard core rap. Mix it up a bit. Food extremely expensive: $5.25 for a bottle of water! Game was good and ib-game entertainment excellent, kept people involved.

    Showtime

by Stuie on 12/19/22Wells Fargo Center - Philadelphia

As usual the 6ers put on a good show for the fans between timeouts and at the half. Getting to the game early is a must if u're driving down there too.

    Not bad

by Joe on 12/15/22Wells Fargo Center - Philadelphia

Enjoyed the game. One thing that could use some improvement is more information available about parking. Example all ticket says is Broad2/GA4 if you have never been to Wells Fargo center trying to find correct info on where to go is difficult.

    The BOMB.COM

by Charles L. on 12/14/22Wells Fargo Center - Philadelphia

Good morning, first and foremost it was my brother's 76th (76 sixers) birthday. He had never been to a NBA game. He lives in Ocean County NJ and I live in Wake Forest NC. I took him to the Laker OT game as well as the Charlotte game on Sunday. Both games 5 rows from the Courtside. OMG my brother hasn't been able to stop talking about it. Thanks Ticket master and Wells Fargo

    Never row 1 again

by Philly Phan on 12/14/22Wells Fargo Center - Philadelphia

The arena, game and staff experience at Wells Fargo is always tremendous but be mindful of where you sit. For a special Christmas present we decided to sit real close and found seats in row 1 across from the player benches. Despite the cost and assumed prime location, we were shocked and disappointed to find that row 1 sits BELOW the last row of the courtside seats. Not staggered in order to see well...not even LEVEL...We couldn't see the other half of the court and even the side we could was only when we ducked in between the shoulders in front of us. It was terrible and we're 6'2"...so it was even worse for my 12 year old son. There should be a disclaimer on obstructed views because this was a total waste of money.

    Sixers

    by D. G. on 12/14/22Wells Fargo Center - Philadelphia

Ticketmaster overbooked our seats so there was an altercation. The other people agreed to move to seats farther back. The rest of the night went well.

    First Row

by Sixerfan on 12/12/22Wells Fargo Center - Philadelphia

The section we were in 111 row 1 seat 6 & 7 was blocked by people seated on a platform right in front of us. Had to look up at the screen the whole time. Not worth the money that we paid for these seats. I know better next time.
