Originally from Oshawa, Canada, Phil is now a key figure in the NYC comedy scene, performing regularly at the Comedy Cellar. With nearly 600K followers on Instagram and 370K on TikTok, he's appeared on major late-night shows like The Tonight Show, Late Night with Seth Meyers, and The Late Late Show.
Hanley's memoir, SPELLBOUND: My Life as a Dyslexic, chronicles his lifelong struggle with dyslexia and how comedy became his saving grace. Hanley's goal in writing this book is to continue his advocacy for dyslexia awareness and his commitment to using his platform to inspire others and promote a deeper understanding of neurodiversity.
He also self-released his stand-up special, Ooh La La, on YouTube, which has amassed over 2 million views. Additionally, Phil was featured in the film I Feel Pretty and the Comedy Central series Inside Amy Schumer, with his half-hour special available on Comedy Central and iTunes. His 2018 album, Please Don't Chit Chat While I'm Pursuing My Dream, is a fan favorite.
We saw Phil in March at the DC Improv Comedy Club. The show was certainly funny but his material from the show is already online and I had heard most of it already. It was still funny being in person but I just wish there was new material in the show that I hadnt already heard.
Lighting was terrible, obstructed views, over priced adult beverages.
Phil is extremely talented. I was disappointed the material was not new. He made me laugh anyway as he is very witty. His comedic skills are outstanding but again I was disappointed nothing new.
I saw a lot of Phil’s standup online before the live show. He is really funny, but I can see how he would be better in a smaller crowd. He seemed tired that night and like he wasn’t excited about being there. Show seemed short and rushed. But otherwise great experience.
Really great show! Phil was hysterical and all of the opening acts were very funny as well. Could not recommend seeing him live enough! Received a copy of his new book at the show! Laughing out loud the entire show!!!

Phil was hilarious with both his crowd work and impromptu jokes. He delivered an amazing show for his hometown crowd and generously gave out his new book to all attendees. You must check him out if you want your face to hurt from laughter!

Phil Hanley is absolutely one of the best comedians out there. He was worth every penny we spent on seeing him. Being in the front row dead center was quite the experience. We laughed all evening! When he comes back to Minnesota we will definitely see him again. Thanks Phil for a great night.

After seeing dozens of Phil Hanley's Tik Tok videos, I finally got to see him live at the Philly Punchline. Hanley packed the club on a Thursday night. He was absolutely hysterical. One of the best shows I have ever seen. His ability to weave his material with crowd work is masterful. It will make you rethink labeling dyslexia as a disability. The one thing that surprised me is how personable and friendly Hanley was. After the show, he greeted the fans and took pictures with them and genuinely seemed to enjoy it. If you only see one comedian, see Phil Hanley!
I will be seeing Phil again & again, & again. Haven’t laughed that hard in sometime. Must watch! For sure recommend!
Phil Hanley hands down has to be one of the best comedians working today. He is very quick witted and interacts with the audience in a hysterical way.

I discovered Phil on Instagram. Very excited to see him live. I did know a lot of the material from watching his other sketch, but he has an incredible skill with weaving the audience into the comedy narrative. As long as you can make fun of yourself, you’ll have a great time.!!
