Lasting Memories
by Kris Mattox on 11/7/22House of Blues Anaheim - AnaheimMy wife is a HUGE Phantogram fan. She's loved their music for years and plays it often. I have been wanting to take her to a show for a long time, but with the pandemic, had to wait even longer. I saw they were coming to House of Blues in Anaheim and had to get tickets. They were offering a meet & greet with the band before the show, and I decided to add that to our tickets. It was well worth it and such a cool experience. Sarah and Josh came out, did a Q&A and took pictures with the entire group. They were such down-to-earth, humble and gracious people. My wife got to ask a question about their creative process and their answers were very insightful as to what their process in like. She was so stoked! From the meet & greet, we went inside the venue to buy some merch and were able to head back to our car to store the purchased merch so we didn't have to carry it around all night. Then we headed back inside to watch GLU perform. He's a solo act and I did not know much about him until after the show. Come to find out he was one of the guitarists for Queens of the Stone Age. He was really good on the guitar and had a unique sounding voice (in a good way). His music was a cool mix of rock with lyrics in an almost rapping style. Overall, we really liked his performance. After a short period of time to get set up, Phantogram came on and got right into it. They were SO good live, just as good or even better than their recorded music. Sarah has an amazing voice and she sounded great on every song. Josh killed it on the guitar and has a really good voice in his own right. Their sound was phenomenal the entire time. The lighting was super cool too and added another element to the show. I was just blown away by how good their entire set was. Honestly, we went because my wife was a huge fan. I liked their music, but was really there for her to see them play. Let's just say I left there as a much bigger fan than when I arrived. This was an amazing experience, one from which we will have lasting memories. We already can't wait for their next show and will be buying tickets whenever they return to town. Thank you Phantogram and the House of Blues!!!
