About

At just 20 years old, Peter McPoland creates the kind of finespun folk-pop that feels both beautifully lived-in and undeniably original. McPoland picked up guitar at the age of 14 and taught himself to play, finding lessons to be too regimented. Within a year he'd started writing his own songs, mining inspiration from folk artists like John Prine and Gregory Alan Isakov. As shown on breakout hits like his self-released single "Romeo & Juliet," the Texas-bred artist has an incredible gift for capturing the most nuanced emotional experiences, then bringing that expression to life in idiosyncratic detail.

  • McPoland’s Piggy Powers the Pony

by reed.608 on 11/23/23The Stone Pony - Asbury ParkRating: 5 out of 5

My wife and I planned our trip to Asbury Park around the Stone Pony, the iconic Jersey Shore venue central to Springsteen mythology. Like Camelot to King Arthur, the Nile to Cleopatra, the Stone Pony is a legendary location for those of us who grew up in, and now grow old with, rock n roll. It’s only fitting that the artist we saw there embodied what I imagine to be the energy, optimism, and relative anonymity of the 24 year old Springsteen when he played the Pony 50 years ago when it first opened its doors. Peter McPoland was fresh, yet seasoned. Peter McPoland was playful, yet serious. Peter McPoland was authentic, yet over-the-top sensational. This show delivered every paradox of emotion that defines what rock once was and should always be. Every time Peter McPoland started a song only to be drowned out by the jam-packed pit of twenty-somethings singing at the top of their lungs, I felt a broad grin well up from that part of the soul reserved for unbridled, collective joy. Peter McPoland, his band, his songs and stories, his fans, friends and family on hand for this fitting finale of his “Piggy” tour ably and effortlessly ascended this stage amidst the ghosts and Gods of rock and gave us some reason to believe. Extraordinary!

  • Outstanding energetic performance

by Red Beard on 11/22/23The Queen - WilmingtonRating: 5 out of 5

Peter McPoland’s Piggy Tour took the raw energy of his music up a notch. He is thoroughly fun to watch and dance with, and his live performance ranked among the top 5 I’ve seen over the past 30+ years. The small venue brought Peter up close to each and every person in the audience. Everyone should be checking out Peter McPoland, and enjoying every track on Piggy. Kudos to opener, Stephen Dawes, as well. He and his band also impressed.

  • EPIC

by Sydney on 11/22/23The Stone Pony - Asbury ParkRating: 5 out of 5

Iconic venue at the Stone Pony. Both Stephen Dawes (the opener) and Peter McPoland absolutely rocked the house. Would see Peter again and come to Stone Pony again!

  • It was AWESOME!!

by Tutti on 11/22/23The Stone Pony - Asbury ParkRating: 5 out of 5

So I bought the tickets as a birthday gift for my boyfriend and let me tell you, he had a spectacular time! And so did I! The music was great! The opening act, Stephen Dawes’ stage presence was awesome! And since we had VIP tickets we got to have some time speaking and taking photos with Peter McPoland himself. He’s was so kind and sweet to his fans. The whole experience in itself was unforgettable! Thank you Peter for being you and making it such a wonderful night! I’m excited for his next album.

Peter McPoland is not only an incredibly talented artist he is so charismatic and beyond fun on stage. He engages with the entire audience and even the fans waiting outside beforehand. He is so down to earth and humble. There are no other artists like him and I will be seeing him 100000 more times! If anyone hasn’t gotten the chance to see him yet…GET TICKETS!

  • best. night. ever.

by Ashlee on 11/17/23Brooklyn Bowl Nashville - NashvilleRating: 5 out of 5

Showed up at doors, short line, got a barricade spot (and didn’t have to push anyone out of the way). His show was spectacular and his photographer was super nice to us. After the show, waited outside to meet him by the stage door. He was super nice and so was all of his team. Seemed like everyone genuinely wanted to see us and wanted us to be there. Got an autograph, pictures, and got to talk to him for a little while. Overall great experience!!!!!

by Hannah on 11/16/23Buckhead Theatre - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

Insane preformance, opener was amazing, Peter has such high energy even with his broken foot he was jumping around interacting with the fans. Would literally go to every single show if I could.

  • amazing live!

    by g. d. on 11/16/23Rating: 5 out of 5

the show was incredible! i dragged a friend along with me and she left the venue as a new fan of peter! i saw a review saying peter lip synced the entire concert which is unfortunate for them. but there was no back track at the atl show and peter sounded amazing live!!!! he had so much energy and stage presence that boot was not stopping peter from having an absolute blast at the show. he even did the whale! i was shook. the staff, bartenders, and merch guy was so kind and helpful. i would love to see peter live again just hoping he’ll come to sc!

  • The best show

by Mackenzie’s mom who said Hi to Peter on Discord on 11/15/23Rating: 5 out of 5

(I almost hot my car towed for waiting to talk to Peter with my daughter after the show but it was so worth it from an older fan of GOOD music!) I want to thank Peter for saying he remembered me, it made my day! Best concert ever. I saw Peter as an opening act and again on his Piggy tour. He is so energetic and energizing. I love his voice, and he didn’t play a bad song. The show was SO FUN. He is a great performer, very fun and interactive with his fans. I came from near Greensboro NC to see him and traffic caused me to miss the VIP experience but his merch person, security, and band members and everyone with him are so great. It was very cool of Peter to come out after the show. Thr concert experience was just perfect. His performances are always amazing. I will see him every chance I get, I hope you come to North Carolina soon, Peter! His version of Were You There and his lyrics blow me away. The experience with him was energetic, meaningful, fun, and the best music I have heard from an upcoming artist ever. You should go see him, older fans too! I FEEL his lyrics. He is so talented and has fun stage presence. There is something special in him and it shows in his performance. He’s so kind to his fans. This concert was the best! Worth the 6+ hour drive! I’m just blown away by how talented, energetic, and fun he is! Definitely check him out. He’s my daughter’s favorite. She was so happy after the show that she forgot to give him something she made for him and she forgot to get a picture with him, we really almost got towed but you know what, it was part of a fun as heck night. If you like to dance at shows you’ll love it, if you like artists who write all of their songs and have meaning and interact with the audience a lot, you’ll love it. Thank you again Peter for remembering me and telling me it was nice to meet me- it was nice to see you perform and meet you too. I hope we get to see you in the Carolinas! People of all ages will love his shows.
