Peter Frampton on Tour

With the Peter Frampton Finale: The Farewell Tour, an iconic figure in rock takes the stage for one last round in 2019. Commencing June 18 in Tulsa and ending October 12 in San Francisco, the tour follows the singer and guitarist's announcement of his retirement due to his battle with inclusion body myositis (IBM), a progressive muscle disorder.

It makes for a poignant occasion for any fan whose life has been touched by Frampton's songs in the five decades since the singer and guitarist first earned renown as the teenage frontman for Humble Pie and became one of the biggest sensations of the 1970s.

The evening will be a celebration first and foremost. The music legend always has been warm and engaging in signature songs like "Baby, I Love Your Way" and "Do You Feel Like We Do," and he wouldn't have it any other way. For the new tour, Frampton performs alongside his longtime bandmates Rob Arthur (keys, guitar, vocals), Steve Mackey (bass), Adam Lester (guitar), and Dan Wojciechowski (drums).

Peter Frampton Background

From co-founding one of rock's first supergroups while still a teenager to releasing the most famous live album of all time, Peter Frampton has had many milestones in a career that began in the London borough of Bromley in the early ‘60s. Inspired by heroes like Buddy Holly and Eddie Cochran, the young guitarist began his musical pursuits as an adolescent alongside David Bowie, an older classmate who became his lifelong friend.

By the time he was 16, Frampton was having his first hits with The Herd. When only 18, he co-founded Humble Pie with Steve Marriott of Small Faces and Spooky Tooth's Greg Ridley. The group's mix of hard rock and progressive styles made them a pioneer of heavy metal.

After going solo in 1971, Frampton toured tirelessly in the U.S. His efforts paid off in 1976, when Frampton Comes Alive! became a phenomenon. Topping the Billboard charts for 10 weeks, it sold eight million copies and spawned three smashes in "Baby, I Love Your Way," "Show Me the Way," and "Do You Feel Like We Do."

Later career highlights included playing guitar on David Bowie's Glass Spider tour, winning a Grammy in 2007 for Best Pop Instrumental Album, and touring with a who's who of other six-string heroes as Frampton's Guitar Circus in 2013. Released in 2016, Acoustic Classics featured new performances of many of his best-known songs, including a few favorites from Frampton Comes Alive!

    Peter Frampton/Journey/John Waite

by Carmen on 4/17/24The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park - San Diego

It was a rockin night watching Pete, Journey, and John Waite perform at Chula Vista 2001 my hometown. The original singer from the baby’s was incredible, Journey was great as usual. It was my first time seeing Frampton live and he is amazing, gorgeous, good performer, perfect voice/guitar player. I am glad that I saw him again at she’ll symphony especially with his son Julian that was so nice (Rebel/Rebel). Will definitely see him again.

    Peter Frampton Crushes It

by Turbo Tom on 4/17/24The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park - San Diego

His recent concert at the Shell in San Diego was amazing. I have to admit, when he came out with his cane, I was a little worried, but he really showed us. He has to be one of the best guitarists in rock and roll history. The show was amazing.

by SMRios on 4/17/24The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park - San Diego

Saw Peter Frampton at the Rady shell in San Diego this past Sunday. The show was amazing, as was the whole venue. Peter Frampton plays for over 2 hours nonstop, and his talent is off the chart!! Loved it- although Mr Frampton, you told us, when we saw you in Las Vegas, that we were the best crowd. And then again in San Diego. Glad to have been in the best crowd twice!!!! Never Ever Say Never!!!!

    Had the best evening.

by Kate on 4/17/24The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park - San Diego

Had the best evening. Peter Frampton is a great performer. He shows absolute joy in his playing the guitar. His band was full of amazing talent. I would of liked to have had a chance to hear more from his son. I would go back and see him again in a hot minute. It was a baby boomer reunion! Great crowd and great music...who could ask for anything more?!

Friends and Frampton/Spring in San Diego

by REO on 4/17/24The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park - San Diego

Great night...enjoyed the evening with good friends tableside seeing one of my all time favorite artists...Mr Peter Frampton. Beautiful venue, polite and gracious seating attendants, friendly & enthusiastic audience and of course...great music. If I could have...I would have turned it up a notch on the volume control. But that comes from my rock & roll days in the 1970's, like it very loud!

    Heartfelt performance

by Cool T on 4/17/24The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park - San Diego

Here's an artist that loves his craft. Who abounds with gratitude to those he can share it with. Peter's come a long way. And he's elevated his person in the process and it showed Sunday night here in San Diego.

    So impressed with Mr Frampton!

by RhythmGirl on 4/17/24The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park - San Diego

I saw Peter Frampton as a teenager back in 1977. Every girl was in love with him them. On a whim I bought tickets for my sister and I to see him at Rady Shell in San Diego. Guess what, I’m still in love. I read a little background story before seeing him about the muscle weakening disease he has and I was just blown away by the quality of his voice and his insane guitar skills despite all his challenges. He’s got a lovely sense of humor and he played nonstop for 2 1/2 hours. It was great seeing his son Julian come on stage, give him a big hug, and sing David Bowie’s Rebel Rebel. Come on let’s do it again!

    Awesome Concert

by Donna E on 4/17/24The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park - San Diego

We saw Peter Frampton at Rady Shell in San Diego and it was one of the best concerts I have ever been to! How can someone sound exactly the same after 40 years? It was such a great experience and the putdoor venue on the bay surrounded by boats was magical!

    Shell shocked by Peter Frampton

by 70’s beach girl on 4/17/24The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park - San Diego

Rady Shell was an ideal location to see Frampton. I was shocked as he played for hours and it was a fantastic show. Location, lighting, visual show, guitars, and even his son came out and sang… it was shocking when his son said his dad has cancer but comes to perform for us because he wants to share the love. 70’s love and peace at todays expected level and more. Loved him

    Great show

by Cinlou on 4/17/24The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park - San Diego

The show was really nice, I thought the musicians all played very well. It amazes me how well he can play his guitar and for as long as he did. My hands were very cold. Maybe the stage lights keep them warm!

    Frampton in San Diego

by JTBB on 4/17/24The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park - San Diego

Really enjoyed this show! It was my third time ever seeing Frampton. 1976, Farewell Tour and Never Say Never Tour. Thought it was a great setlist and well paced show! Personal favorite song was Shine On and of course Do You Feel ! Loved the footage shown on screen with him and David Bowie since they were good friends. Peter's son came out and sang Rebel Rebel which I thought was a great tribute!

    Awesome!

by Tom H on 4/17/24The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park - San Diego

Peter did a great job. Played for over two hours without a break and despite his medical condition, this did not seem to slow him down. I will definitely see him again, especially if he comes back to San Diego in the fall.

    Spectacular musicianship

by LR on 4/17/24The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park - San Diego

This was without a doubt one of the greatest concerts I have attended. I went expecting a fun but predictable rehash of oldies and left completely stunned. Peter Frampton and his fellow musicians are amazing performers and brilliant artists/musicians. Their jazz riffs, improvisation, and joy of creating music blew me away. It was a privilege and a pleasure to experience that magical night. Rock on Frampton and Co.!!!

    Past fun revisited

by Theresa on 4/17/24The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park - San Diego

I love this venue! Sound is spectacular, the crowd is large and participates willingly. Frampton could not have delivered a finer show! I am still singing songs from the event today! I felt transported back to 1976 when I saw him in San Diego last. Absolutely Fabulous! His take on Georgia and Blach Hole Sun truly memorable. His son’s tribute to David Bowie was awesome. I’ll be following Julian Frampton in the future. Thank you Peter Frampton and team for a fantastic time!

    Cold and Wet

by dchuck on 4/17/24Greek Theatre - Los Angeles

Peter Frampton is a great guitarist and a wonderful human being. He has gotten so much better with age, tasteful. Just the right notes in the right places. Except for the fact that it rained and it was cold, it was marvelous. And the Greek Theatre, always a treat.
