Excellent live concert by Peter Bjorn and John! The El Rey Theatre is a very intimate venue which added so much to the whole experience. I would definitely see Peter Bjorn and John again and will most likely come back to the El Rey Theatre.
The venu itself was sub-par. There was absolute NO SMOKING but I guess to each their own. The Opening act for this show literally brought on borderline suicidal actions. Between the lack of equipment failure or whatever might have happened this should have been well fixed before entrance. The main “act” decided it would be a great idea to have two shows in two nights at the same venue. This caused all sorts of stale moments. Each song felt rushed. The three did not go outside the comfort box at all during either show leaving me, my friends extremely disappointed.
these guys played a long and awesome set list. great show!
Band was amazing. Only bummer is they didn't go on until 12:45pm. Maybe I'm just getting old!
i have been to over 50 concerts and this one was easily the best. i highly encourage these guys. they encored 5 songs, walked around in the crowd, danced with fans, signed autographs, made us laugh, went balls out, and were humble. these tickets couldve easily been 100$ and u still wouldve had way more than ur moneys worth. they were simply incredible and definitely a band i will see every time they come to LA now
Two thumbs up, up, up!!! Great show, thoroughly had a great time. Fun crowd, great music and energetic band with good interaction.
I love Peter Björn and John! They put on an awesome show. I am a longtime fan, nut I brought a friend who had never heard their music before, and she loved the show. We stayed for the second show and that was even better than the first! They even stayed after both shows to meet fans and sign stuff! They said they were returning in the fall, and my friend and I cannot wait!
Peter, Bjorn and John put on a high energy show that definetly was a crowd pleaser. Going old school armed only with guitars and drums they sounded great. Getting out in the crowd while singing was nice to see. The crowd loved it. The light show added to the visual stimulation quite nicely. Peter, Bjorn and John genuinely looked like they were having as much fun and their fans. And it was their second show of the night. Great venue for a fun crowd and a high energy show with good music and nice folk.
These guys really know how to put on a show for fans and new comers.
This was the 4th time I'd seen PB&J and they just keep getting better and better! They're totally maturing as a band and perfect their live performance. I sorta miss the un-polished trio from back in '07 but this is a band that is at the top of their game right now!
We thought we had missed out opportunity to see PB&J when the first show sold out. But then we got a “second chance” when they added a late show. To think, I almost bought inflated-priced tux for that first show… I’d always go for the later show anyway. It was awesome. They had so much energy and their quirky Swedish humor was fun. I liked the different versions of the songs off Living Thing. The harmonica playing we great. I didn’t get one of the giant triple thumbs, but still went away having had a great time. The El Rey is a great place to see a show.
2nd show. i can't believe they played until 2am! I love the swedes. xoxox
Honestly, I only just recently heard of this band thru my daughter, and I thought it would be cool to see them live while they were in LA. I went to the later of the two shows that evening, and I can't speak to the first one, but they really put on a good show for us! They gave three encores and it was obvious that they were really getting inton heir performance! I'd definitely recommend this show and would love to see them again myself.
Worst show ever. The songs were atrocious. They didn't even play the whistle song that they are known for. We think they avoided it because they are probably tired of being identified by it, but at least it would have been one half decent song during the show. We kept on saying "maybe the next song will be good." Then the end came and we realized all our hopes had not come true. I like the El Rey. I've been to many great shows there, so this definitely was not a venue problem. The problem was a bad band with a bad set list.
These guys are great! Their stage presence is amazing and they busted out with their latest album Gimme Some that's proven to be a great match-up for their corky personalities and performances. The venue was perfect for this kind of show and the sound was impeccable. I'll definitely be catching them again next time they come around. They did a little meet and greet after their DOUBLE show- yes, they performed back to back shows and still did an awesome job. Overall, SEE THEM!
I see an obscene amount of shows, and I'd have to say this was one of the best performances I've seen all year. I'm so glad I decided to get tickets, as I also saw The Cars this week and I needed to see something great to redeem live music for me after The Cars played the most boring concert on the planet. I wasn't looking that forward to this concert - I had no idea they were such great performers and were such a fun band live, all 3 were just totally into it and all over the stage. They blew my boyfriend and I away so much that we stayed for the second show, so essentially we spent 6 hours at the El Rey waiting for and seeing PB&J. I'm moving them to the top of "Bands I Obsess Over List."
GREAT show! Really enjoyed the opening act, Bachelorette, and the sound quality was great. The gentleman had so much energy and put on an amazing show!
These guys are great performers. Very entertaining!
These guys are an incredible & fun live band!! They rocked the house, did 2 encores, etc. Totally worth seeing them live!! and Lee's Palace is a great venue!
