    Great Night

by DannyBop on 9/12/17The Metropolitan Opera - New York

To quote Neil McCormick article in The Telegraph with had the perfect title " Classic Quadrophenia at Royal Albert Hall, review: 'fantastic music but lacking power of rock". 'The Article goes on th state; "Lacking something in such unquantifiable areas as guts and groove, iit couldn't really hope to match the hypnotic immersion audiences might get from a full on rock show, yet there was immense pleasure to be had in hearing this fantastic music through another prism." It wasn't the Who, but it was quiet enjoyable for an aging rocker

Not rock opera or worthy of Townsend

by Jojo50s on 9/12/17The Metropolitan Opera - New York

Alfie the tenor is a cross between a musical signer and a lounge singer. He does a terrible job. There is zero acting or choreography other than some terrible boxing match like dancing. The orchestra clearly did not practice enough and Pete and Alfie missed a que. Watch the movie or listen to the album or go to a Who concert.

    Roger was missed.

by SquidMeister on 9/10/17Metropolitan Opera House - New York

First off, the 130+ orchestra & choir was incredible. Alfie Boe has a remarkable range, but poorly placed in this production. His delivery was wearing on us & we couldn't wait for the instrumental portions of the production for relief. Rodger Daltrey was sorely missed, along with Pete Townsend singing his own songs. Alfie flubbed some lyrics & the section of the song had to be repeated.Also. he constantly encouraged crowd clap-alongs....horrendous. Couldn't hear Pete's acoustic guitar on I'm One & Drowned.
