About

Pet Shop Boys (Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe) are the most successful duo in UK music history. Since signing to Parlophone Records in 1985, they have achieved 42 Top 30 singles in the UK, including 22 Top 10 hits and No. 1s. They have released 12 studio albums, all of which have made the UK Top 10 as well as album charts around the world.

In 2000 they received the Ivor Novello Award for Outstanding Contribution to British Music and at the 2009 Brit Awards they were presented with the award for Outstanding Contribution to Music.

As writers, producers, and remixers, Tennant and Lowe have collaborated, remixed, or written for a wide range of artists including Dusty Springfield, Lady Gaga, Liza Minnelli, Madonna, David Bowie, Yoko Ono, The Killers, and Girls Aloud.

Pet Shop Boys have also written the West End musical Closer to Heaven with playwright Jonathan Harvey, produced in 2001 by the Really Useful Group. In 2004 they performed their soundtrack to the classic silent film Battleship Potemkin with the Dresden Sinfoniker in a free concert in Trafalgar Square presented by the ICA, and they have since performed it at various spectacular outdoor events in Germany, Spain, and the UK. In 2011 Pet Shop Boys composed a ballet, The Most Incredible Thing, based on the Hans Christian Anderson story of the same title. The project was a collaboration with choreographer Javier De Frutos and Britain’s leading dance theatre, Sadler’s Wells. The ballet won the Evening Standard Theatre Award and was given a second season at Sadler’s Wells the following year.

In 2012 Pet Shop Boys appeared before a worldwide television audience during the London Olympics’ closing ceremony. Two years later, Tennant and Lowe's collaboration with Alan Turing biographer Andrew Hodges, A Man From The Future, received its world premiere as a Late Night Prom concert at the Royal Albert Hall with the BBC Concert Orchestra, the BBC Singers, and narrator Juliet Stevenson.

In their live shows over the last 20 years, Pet Shop Boys have created an original and influential style of pop musical theatre, collaborating with directors, designers, and artists including Derek Jarman, David Alden and David Fielding, Zaha Hadid, Sam Taylor-Wood, and Es Devlin. Their 2009-2011 arena tour Pandemonium was described in a five-star review in The Times as “the ravishing pop spectacle of the year”.

Pet Shop Boys released the album Electric in 2013, produced by Stuart Price. The album received great critical acclaim and gave Pet Shop Boys their highest album chart positions in 20 years in the UK and USA. The accompanying Electric Tour subsequently visited 38 countries over three years and received ecstatic audience and critical reactions.

Pet Shop Boys’ 13th album Super was also produced by Stuart Price and was released worldwide on April 1, 2016. In July 2016, Pet Shop Boys played an exclusive four-date residency entitled Inner Sanctum at the Royal Opera House in London. The concerts were staged by designer Es Devlin and choreographer Lynne Page.

    Overall was ok

by Matt on 10/19/22Rogers Arena - Vancouver

They played mostly all their old stuff, they played one song from their last two albums, which was disappointing. New Order was pretty good, I’m not a fan of their lead singer though

    Unity tour

by Armoredfist on 10/19/22Rogers Arena - Vancouver

New Order and Pet Shop Boys were OUTSTANDING!! Saw them at the last show of the tour in Vancouver. I’m more of a N.O. fan but for me, the PSB put on a better show. I also LOVED how PSB sang their songs just like you heard it on the radio. The timing was spot on. Wish I could say the same for N.O. Delaying the lyrics by a second in multiple songs but it’s enough to throw you off when you’re singing along.

    A little disappointed

    by W. W. on 10/19/22Rogers Arena - Vancouver

I've been a fan of the PSB from the start. I was elated when I heard they were performing in Vancouver so I wasn't too hesitant to pay $500 for a mediocre seat. I'll note that the seats are too close to the row in front. My knees were touching the seat in front. I was impressed with New Order and it seemed that they connected with the audience more than the PSB. I was honestly underwhelmed by the PSB performance. I love their music but they really needed some backup singers and dancers on stage with them. It's not engaging enough to just have wooden faced Lowe standing behind a keyboard and Tennant walking back and forth in an overcoat. That works for a music video but not a live concert. Even the music sounded a bit noisy. The heavy canned beat drowned out all the layers of other sounds. It just felt like they cheaped out on the production. Perhaps their shows in the eighties were more entertaining.

    Unity Tour at Rogers Place

by Mephisto on 10/19/22Rogers Arena - Vancouver

Unbelievable event. Audio & visuals were top notch. To get to see two of my all time favourite bands (NO and PSB) in one event + Paul Oakenfold? Crazy. One of the best concerts I’ve ever seen - my friends and I are still talking about it three days later.

    Fabulous

by Care on 10/19/22Rogers Arena - Vancouver

The show was so fun and an amazing throwback to the 80's and 90's. Both New Order and Pet Shop Boys were on point with their sound and vocals and seemed truly happy to be there.

    Disappointed

by Tony Z on 10/19/22Rogers Arena - Vancouver

Pet Shop Boys are one of our favorites! We saw them in Vegas and in London. Great shows! Vancouver, though, was a disappointment. They played only a few of their great hits. Moreover, it lacked the vibrance, creativity and quality of previous shows.

Awesome show. 2 of my favorite bands ever!

by Rommel on 10/18/22Chase Center - San Francisco

We had seats on the 5th row dead center. What an awesome show. Both bands performed their greatest hits. Totally worth the extra $$$ for the VIP seats. So many hits. I wish they go back again in 2 yrs. I'll buy the same seats again.

    Fantastic show!!

by Mike D on 10/18/22Hollywood Bowl - Hollywood

Seeing the Pet Shop Boys was on my bucket list as I never saw them in the 80's. They didn't disappoint! Great show! I think they sound better now than in the 80's. Hollywood Bowl is a fantastic venue for a concert! Seen many concerts there. Will not hesitate to look for more groups playing at the "Bowl". Well worth the money!

    Greatest Hits

by moebius on 10/17/22Chase Center - San Francisco

Both New Order and PSB performed 1.5 hrs. each with Paul Oakenfold DJing before and in between sets for half an hour each. Show started at 1830, ended at 2230. Had a fun time dancing and singing along to both bands. Both bands performed mostly classic songs. I only didn't recognize two songs from each band which I believe were their 'newer' stuff. New Order performed two Joy Division songs: "Love Will Tear Us Apart" and "Transmission".

I bought a singleton floor ticket and enjoyed the view, the vibe, and the friends I met during the event. I had been waiting for this dual of bands for many many years.

    Extraordinary

by Dr Day on 10/15/22Chase Center - San Francisco

It was a long time coming and the Pet Shop Boys were better then I could have hoped. Sound and stage performance was second to none. New Order to open was a perfect choice to set the feeling and get the audience pumped and ready. Thanks
