PERIPHERY IN CONCERT:

Periphery has been at the epicenter of the progressive metal scene ever since first getting audiences thrashing back in 2005. The band's face-melting shows are a crash course in the unique metal subgenre known as djent, treating concertgoers to extensive breakdowns, complex rhythms, and plenty of seven string guitar. From the breakneck tempo and unexpected melodies of "Passenger" to the epic sonic onslaught of "Icarus Lives", Periphery is a heavy-hitting and unforgettable live act that always get pulses racing on tour.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Periphery formed in Washington, D.C. in 2005 and quickly built a following with their pioneering djent metal sound. The band spent its early years on the road touring tirelessly with acts like Veil of Maya, Darkest Hour, and The Dillinger Escape Plan. In 2010 they recruited lead vocalist Spencer Sotelo and released their self-titled debut album, an auspicious collection that peaked at No. 2 on Billboard's Heatseekers chart and No. 12 on the Hard Rock chart. Following tours with Dream Theater and Protest The Hero, the band released their 2012 sophomore album Periphery II: This Time It's Personal -- a No. 3 hit on the Hard Rock chart that once again brought them out on tour. A powerful live act known for their high-octane live shows, Periphery continues to blow minds in concert.

    Lead singer didn't finish songs

by Heidi on 2/17/20The Fillmore Charlotte presented by Cricket Wireless - Charlotte

I mean when they were good when they were performing but the lead singer had something wrong with his throat and he didn’t finish the rest of the songs.

    Good crowd/Music

by MS on 2/17/20The Fillmore Charlotte presented by Cricket Wireless - Charlotte

Unfortunately I feel like I only received half a show. 2 members were not there and halfway through the lead lost his voice. No fault on him, its understandable, but the ticket price of $36 seemed pretty high for something like that.

    Stellar performance!

by Luke on 2/17/20The Fillmore Charlotte presented by Cricket Wireless - Charlotte

Both openers were amazing, didn’t disappoint. Periphery was one of the most energetic performances ever for me. The vocalist was on point, and the guitarists have unmatched talent. Reptile and Blood Eagle were the highlights for me.

    Very yes

by ConcertGoer23 on 2/13/20The Ritz Ybor - Tampa

The venue was amazing, lots of space, a nice bathroom with a constant attendant, and two bars. When i buy a concert ticket to a metal show i do not go to venues where they do not allow moshing and jumping around. I became concerned when they had security go into the crowd, but they allowed the moshpit to happen and it was glorious. Thank you, Ritz Ybor. As for the headliner, Periphery, they were incredible as always and nailed the set. Great experience.

    Periphery - simply amazing

    by S. P. on 2/13/20The Ritz Ybor - Tampa

Periphery played an absolutely amazing show. Was totally floored with how great they sounded live. I am always impressed that Tampa Bay can pull a sell out crowd on a Monday night!

    Mind blowing

by Jackie S on 2/11/20House of Blues Dallas presented by Cricket Wireless - Dallas

Beside Plini, who also played the same night this was the BEST FREAKING CONCERT I’ve ever seen live. One of the most important aspects of a concert for me, is that the band sounds as true to itself live as possible. You get this and more with Periphery.

    Periphery love

by Dallas fans suck on 2/11/20House of Blues Dallas presented by Cricket Wireless - Dallas

First time seeing Periphery was 2/11/2020. They were so much fun to watch. It seemed as it were just four best friends screwing around on stage having a blast together. All while not missing a beat and killing their set list. The crowd however... surprisingly younger than anticipated. This is fine until a group of them continued to call out the next song on their set list before it was played. Periphery even told them to stop and let everyone else enjoy the show/element of surprise, but they continued on. I think Dallas so far might be the only city to not receive an encore because of this. What a bummer. Dallas is always a disappointment

Best experience in a long time

by AboutFalling on 2/11/20House of Blues Dallas presented by Cricket Wireless - Dallas

I love Periphery and I'm a huge prog metal fan so when I saw that they were coming to Dallas, I had to commit to the 6 hour drive from Jackson MS. It was so worth it. HoB venue is awesome and I had a blast! (get it?)

    They never miss a beat

by Christian McGee on 2/11/20House of Blues Houston presented by Cricket Wireless - Houston

Periphery is extremely fun and inspiring to see live. They nail every song, even the difficult ones (all of their songs), and are constantly goofing around and having fun. I always have such a great time.

Good Showing - Needed the Full Band

by Grasshoppa on 2/10/20House of Blues Houston presented by Cricket Wireless - Houston

This was my first time to see Periphery live, and my expectations were based on knowing that Mark Holcomb would not be performing. It was a great show! I know that bands often have recorded "backing" when performing live, and the limited use of it to enhance the sound from what was created in the studio is fine. By no means were Periphery limiting each member's performance with fills on this tour. I just wish that they would tour with a full band, including a bassist. I know how the business end of it works. I just feel that fans would really appreciate more of an "organic" live performance.

    Great performance

    by C. K. on 2/3/20The Fillmore - San Francisco

The whole show was. great. This was the first time I'd seen Periphery. The show sold out. I have to say it was worth the drive from Sacramento to San Francisco. They were awesome.

    The Wiltern never disappoints

by Turff on 2/3/20The Wiltern - Los Angeles

It's a metal show at the Wiltern, it was fantastic. I was mildly disappointed with Periphery avoiding all of their old material (Nothing off the first record, only one song off the second) But at the end of the day it was still a great show. The Wiltern doesn't have the best sound but its far from the worst. While I was personally annoyed by the mosh pit erupting directly where I was standing, that's no one in particulars fault.

    Love this band

    by J. B. on 2/2/20The Fillmore - San Francisco

What a great show and first time seeing Periphery. Spencer has an amazing vocal performance and the band was tight and had great stage presence. Mark was missed on guitar but he’ll be around next tour.

    I N C R E D I B L E

by Devon on 10/7/19The Pageant - St Louis

I was told that Periphery puts on one hell of a show but I never expected it to be this good. Hands down one of the best metal shows I’ve ever been to. The sound was great, the light show was probably the best one I’ve ever seen, the crowd involvement was truly insane. Periphery was all over the stage (in a good way) and interacting with the audience. They had guitarists from the opening bands come out in a Misha mask and play along with them, which I thought was a very cool thing to do. They had a great merch selection and they threw a lot of guitar picks and drum sticks to the audience at the end of their set. Misha let some people touch his guitar. I seriously didn’t want this concert to end!

    Amazing

by Brandon on 10/6/19The Pageant - St Louis

The Pageant's layout was great. We sat at the closest seats to the stage. Covet was decent, Periphery was good, and Veil of Maya was amazing. Best concert I've been to.

    Amazing Small Concert Experience

by Scotty Zee on 9/26/19Union Hall - Edmonton

The show started off with an almost spiritual experience with Covet, then exploded with energy when Veil of Maya took the stage. I had primarily gone for their portion of the concert, and thus went absolutely crazy down on the main floor in front of the stage. The show was simply amazing, so much crowd energy for most of the night. Periphery was an absolute pleasure to see live, I didn't know much about their music going into the concert but I have to say they simply killed it. They were also just super fun to watch, doing funny stuff like air high fives on the stage, and going up to the balcony level of Union Hall and playing among the crowd up there. I would gladly see them in concert again!

    Great show all around

by Kevin A. on 9/20/19House of Blues Chicago presented by Cricket Wireless - Chicago

Covet, Veil of Maya, and Periphery were amazing. I was especially amazed at the 15-minute translations/sound checks between bands. The show moved smoothly and the sound was great. No complaints!
