Pensacola Ice Flyers Background

The Pensacola Ice Flyers were founded in 2009, following the Ice Pilots who had been part of the ECHL since 1996. The team began playing at the Pensacola Bay Center in the 2009-10 season as a member of the SPHL. Since then, the Ice Flyers have become one of the top teams in the league, winning multiple championships and making a significant impact on the community. The team is owned by Greg Harris, who took over in 2012. With four President's Cup championships, they are tied for most in league history. Their attendance numbers consistently rank in the top three in the league. The Ice Flyers will celebrate their 15th anniversary during the 2023-24 season.

  • Ice Flyers brings an action packed game

    by Tinaann318 on 1/21/14Pensacola Bay Center - PensacolaRating: 4 out of 5

The game was great, even with a loss that night. I love supporting our local team! I feel people should go and watch them at least once a season if not more, as its a great experience for the whole family. The issues I had that night were not to be put on the Ice Flyers, but the Pensacola Bay Center. I ordered our reserved tickets for 11 seats, all in one row to keep the family and kids all together. When we arrived, parking was hard to find, only one gate was open, and it was a sold out game. The sold out game is great for the Ice Flyers, but Pensacola Bay Center seemed to not be able to handle the demands of the large crowd. Having only 4 people to scan tickets and check bags was long and we missed the first few minutes of the game. When we did get inside and to our seats, people where in our seats. Talking with them we found out that people were in their seats, getting an usher to help us figure it out lead us to his manager, saying he couldn't do anything about it, it was a sold out game. The manager went to get an Ice Flyer rep, she tried hard to find a solution as moving a party of 11 is not easy on a sold out game. At that point we was ready to get a full refund and call it a night. Next, the president for the Ice Flyers came over apologized and put us in the only available section, the Flight Deck which was right by the ice. He also brought over ice pucks for all the kids. We was happy to be able to sit together as a family and enjoy the game. He also came by a few times to make sure we was all taken care of and that the kids were having a great experience. He was very patient with the kids asking and touching his 2013 championship ring. The kids really had a blast and us parents enjoyed seeing their happiness. We will be back this coming weekend, even with the issue, it was handled well and understand the chaos of having a sold out game. The last sold out game was 2003. :) **The seating issue as we understood, is that Circle k is giving tickets to sell for seats in the general admission section, where they can just sit in any seat in that section. Which is never an issue as they normally don't sell out seats. This was the anniversary weekend and they were selling $5.00 tickets. Which if you bought them online they was actually $11.80 due to a $6.80 surcharge. Being it was that weekend our tickets where assigned in that section. Our tickets had our section, row and seat # for each seat, while the others did not.

Generally low quality hockey and presentation. The building it's self is old/run down and smells.

although they didn't play the best game tonight, the flyers always make the game exciting. We really love the blimp that comes out!!

by yafk on 1/20/14Pensacola Bay Center - PensacolaRating: 4 out of 5

We had never been to an ice hockey game before, but we had a great time. The price was right and we thought it was great to see many kids there. Did not thing the fights, which looked staged, were a very good example for the kids, however.

  • Steps are awful

It is very difficult to sit on the glass when you have to walk up and down sooooo many steps. The Civic Center is Not handicap friendly!!!!

  • Good Family Sports Event

We go to hockey games at the Pensacola Bay Center once or twice a year. The event is well-handled, the employees did their jobs, and we had a good time.

I got these tickets for my husband for anniversary. We have never watched or been to a hockey game. We think it was really a good time. We would definitely recommend googling what the plays and fouls mean because we were lost at times but it was still fun!

  • What a game!

Great seats! The stadium served liquor which was awesome! Everyone in the venue was friendly and eager to help. Parking was sufficient. Will definitely attend more games.

This was my son's first hockey game, and now he is hooked! I got us seats right on the glass and just inside the blue line (VERY affordable and worth the extra few dollars.) and got to see a lot of action about a foot in front of us. WoW! Great Time!

Game was great but section 104 is full of season ticket holders with young kids that are allowed to run free, yell, and kick your seats. Game was amazing though. Just don't sit in 104.

  • Kids first hockey game

  • Great game!

by glocknroll on 2/25/13Pensacola Bay Center - PensacolaRating: 4 out of 5

We had a great time at the hockey game, despite seeming so odd to watch ice hockey in Pensacola, FL. The pregame feast at McGuires kept us from getting any of the great looking nachos they had at the arena but we will know better next time! The only problem was the announcer was a little tough to understand at times. but overall it was great!

  • Had so much fun for my first Hockey game!

by MobileChic on 1/28/13Pensacola Bay Center - PensacolaRating: 5 out of 5

It was my birthday and me and my friends wanted to do something we haven't done before, so a hockey game it was! We had seats right by the rink and right next to the players. I was thinking it would be mediocre and just something I can say I experienced, but I honestly had a blast, it was so much fun! The energy of all the fans and the game was just so exciting to watch. It was real good energy and I will definitely be attending another game.

  • Awesome game but lousy time with will call

by MysticBleu on 1/21/13Pensacola Bay Center - PensacolaRating: 4 out of 5

It was an awesome game and I would highly recommend everyone that enjoys ice hockey to become a fan! However, my issue is with the arena. We had will call tickets but missed the entire first period waiting in a line for peoples buying tickets, ice skating tickets, and observing tickets for ice skating after the game...this was along with the will call folks! It was ridiculous and they had a table set up with one little girl doing it all. There must of been about a hundred people out there, no kidding, all waiting with us! The arena needs to make some changes. I asked one of the security people and apparently this is their normal way...GET REAL! And we were there early. However, through Ticketmaster we got awesome seats!
