About

PENNYWISE IN CONCERT:

Punk rock legends Pennywise have been an emblem of SoCal surf and skate culture ever since their self-titled 1991 debut. As one of the most successful independent punk outfits of all time, Pennywise elevated bros to sacred status with seminal punk anthems like "Bro Hymn" and "Living for Today," building a massive following that still turns out in full force for their moshpit-heavy live shows. With a new album due out in 2014 — their first with original lead singer Jim Lindberg since 2008's Reason to Believe — the band promises to pull out all the stops on their upcoming tour dates.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Formed in Southern California in 1988 and named after the killer clown from Stephen King's novel  It, Pennywise released several EPs before their self-titled 1991 debut LP established them as a dominant force in SoCal's burgeoning punk scene. As one of seminal label Epitaph's flagship bands, Pennywise released a string of taut, anthemic albums throughout the '90s, working their way into the mainstream by the 1995 release of third album About Time. That album cracked the Billboard 200, a veritable coup for indie punk and a feat the band would repeat with each subsequent album — including 2012's All or Nothing, the band's tenth studio album.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"Pennywise always puts on a great show. They have so much energy it spills out to the crowd!"

"Pennywise is nothing without Lindberg and now that he's back they're just as amazing as before. Great show!"

"The energy during the entire show was awesome and you could feel the love and respect everyone was channeling when Pennywise took the stage. They played hit after hit..."

Dear Pennywise, I have never been to a show before where I saw so many lame people, girls in high heels and douchebag jocks....ditch Pepper and play for yourselves.

    Awesome show

by Smorgan on 7/11/09The Electric Factory - Philadelphia

I was introduced to Pepper through a friend and ever since I first heard them I have been dying to see them in concert. Their presence on stage was awesome. They were lively, raunchy and hilarious - and best of all, they sound great live. The bands who played before them were also great as well.

    Hawaiian fever..pepper heats it up!!

by lilmcattack on 7/11/09Terminal 5 - New York

When we first arrived, there were plenty of t-shirt stands with lots of different choices (always a plus!). Everything was moderately priced, (we got 2 t-shirts for about 40$). We got there early and found an awesome spot. The venue had two upper levels that had overlooking balconies, it was much less crowded then the floor. The opening acts definitely got the show started, especially the Supervillians! This was my second time seeing Pepper. My boyfriend is from Oahu, Hi, so he introduced me to their music and ever since then we have tried to make all their shows that are close by. As usual, Pepper was nothing less than amazing. Three amazingly talented guys, that seem to be very down to earth, and completely in tune to what their fans want. Every single song they played pumped up the crowd more than the last. After Peppers set was over, Pennywise came on, and soon after we left because the crowd was getting a little obnoxious. The only complaints i have are that the drinks were extremely over priced (suppose that is the price you pay to see a concert in NYC). Pepper is always amazing, and this just sealed the deal for me!

    What an insanely rad show

by Ethan on 7/11/09Terminal 5 - New York

This weekend was probably the greatest of my life. The day before this I was in New York City and won two additional tickets to the show after already buying tickets for my friends and I. I simply took more people and it was even more fun! What a ridiculously great venue and great times I will never forget! I'd go to a show at this venue just to be there, it's that good! Every set was smooth and interesting. There were no long wait times in between bands. Just enough to catch our breaths between dancing. This show set the bar for the way my friends and I enjoy our New York City shows (week after week). I just saw The Supervillains again last night @ Nokia Theatre based on this show. While I was there with my friends we won 6 tickets to get inside! We were there with our money waiting to pay for the tickets and this lady just gave them to us. I love life

    Pennywise is the real deal

by ogpennywisefan on 7/11/09The Electric Factory - Philadelphia

Ummm, Pepper sucks but I'd like to thank them for getting the little kids to buy tickets and leave after their set to clear the area for real pennywise fans to have a good time. Their generic sound bored me to the point that I got even more hype for Pennywise to come on. Granted, I've never seen Pennywise soo hammered in my 13 times of seeing them, they still put on a killer show as expected. Shout out to Authority Zero. I am a fan of AZ but this was my first time seeing them and they absolutely killed it
