About
Peezy emerged from the Detroit underground in the 2010s as part of the Team Eastside rap collective before going solo. In 2014 he released Mud Muzik, which showcased the streetwise storytelling and old-school Motor City beats that appeared on subsequent albums — like 2015's Mud Sweat & Tears (Peezy’s third album) and singles such as “Build a Bear” (feat. Pooh Beatz) and “I’m Good, Pt. 5.” Peezy achieved commercial success with 2022’s “2 Million Up” (feat. Rob49), which went viral on TikTok and made appearances on multiple Billboard R&B/hip-hop charts. The momentum led to a positive review in Pitchfork of his critically-acclaimed 2022 album, Only Built 4 Diamond Links. The Billboard 200-charting album showcased the evolution of the rapper, who now runs his own record label, #Boyz Entertainment, amplifying the voices of rising rappers like Rio Da Yung OG and RMC Mike. In April 2023, the influential Detroit mainstay released the EP, GHETTO, and continues performing in packed venues in (and out) of Motor City.
