PBR: Professional Bull Riders on Tour
For a rodeo rider, trying to master a feisty horse is tough enough, a task not to be taken lightly, but bearing down on a big bull increases the scariness quotient considerably. That's one of the things that makes watching a pro bull rider so compelling — it's thrilling and frightening in equal measure as you marvel at the riders' skills while praying that they make it out unscathed.
These days, when it comes to bull riding, it's all about PBR: Professional Bull Riders. The organization started back in 1992 as a grassroots effort spearheaded by a handful of riders with a vision for what the sport could offer to fans. PBR grew by leaps and bounds over the decades, and by the 2010s they were sponsoring three major tours every year, adding up to hundreds of events with millions of dollars in prizes being awarded annually.
Needless to say, attending a PBR event means watching the best bull riders in the business strutting their stuff. Over the years, champs like J.B. Mauney, Kody Lostroh, Justin McBride, Adriano Moraes, Chris Shivers, and Tuff Hedeman have all distinguished themselves as decorated heroes of the PBR, giving all the rest a high standard to which they could aspire. And each of their tours offer fans the opportunity to catch some bull riding history in the making, be it the Unleash the Beast Series that ends with the PBR World Finals in Las Vegas, The Velocity Tour that showcases the rising stars of the PBR, or the Touring Pro Division split into Western, Central, and Eastern regions.
Whichever PBR competition you end up catching, there's one common thread. You're guaranteed to see some world-class athletes reaching deep inside themselves to tap into the best of their talents and give rodeo lovers an unforgettable experience.
My boyfriend and I totally enjoyed the Bulls and the BBQ. We walked away with some great freebies but the best part was the bullridiing. Those guys are tough!!
I've been a big fan and watched the PBR on TV for a long time. I even went to Guilerme Marchi's restaurant in Dallas in hopes of catching him there (just missed him). I was blessed to be able to attend in San Antonio. The pre-show was great. I was proud to see our newest men and womem take the Air Force oath. It was awsome seeing the cowboys putting forth the effort they do. The annoucing was good. I never did see where they where posating the scores. They had the rider's score on the big screen, but didn't have the bull score posted anywhere. I enjoyed seeing the Bull Fighters, but was disappointed that Clint played to the other side of the stadium and didn't include our side much. I'm guessing it was because we were closer to the chutes. I would like to have had the TV announcers recognized or introduced. We get to see them every week on TV, but I would have liked to have seen them in person. I'd definately go again if I got the opportunity.
Ford Tough Series bull riding in the AT&T Center was great. The seating is closer to the action in the arena. I didn't need binoculars at all. Good bull riding action. And our seats looked down onto the chutes so we got a good look at the riders preparing to ride.
Preformance was extremely good, although the bulls won most rides. I was disappointed that tickets for the final round of rides on sunda Aug. 2 were not advertised for sale. I purchased our tickets in pre-sale period and you only listed the saturday Aug. 2 event. We would of prefered purchasing tickets for the sunday Aug. 2 finals. And I checked about a week before the event when I heard there would be two performances but I still did not find any listing for the sunday Aug. 2 preformance.
Great Show! Will buy again for this event...Great Job Guys! Keep up the hard work!!!
I had never been to PBR...I expected non stop BULLRIDING! Instead it was like one long infommercial. You would see a couple of bull rides, then 30 minutes of plugs for sponsors and clowning around! I can see more action at family rodeo at small town rodeos, and it was NOT worth the 100 dollars a ticket!!!
There is nothing that will hold you back from a night full of pure entertainment. From the riders trying to out perform the bulls down to the bullfighters providing laughter, this event is a class act. I will surely recommend this event to all my family and friends. Thank you for such a wonderful time.
My wife and I went to the PBR last night to celebrate our anniverary of 24 years. We were touched by the new military recruits taking their oath and the dedication to the fallen Border Patrol Officer...what a way to start the event! Cody Lambert and his crew did an outstanding job giving us an entertaining show and performance in San Antonio. We had front row seatsand experienced all the action. We had a wonderful time. See ya in Las Vegas.
THIS WAS A GREAT EVENT. AMAZING FAMILY ENTERTAINMENT. WOULD HAVE BEEN EVEN BETTER IF THERE WAS NOT AS MANY FOLKS SELLING BEER. EVERY MINUTE THE BEER GUY WAS INTERUPTING MY VIEW.
The is the 1st time my 14-year old daughter and I have gone to a PBR event. We had a blast and we'll definitely go again!
Riders ok, bulls exceptional, Flint spectacular. Family entertainment at very affordable price for great seats. Will come again
The PBR Built Ford Tough San Antonio Invitational has it all -- all the hardcore edginess of a rock show, all the energy of extreme sports, and all the drama that only bull riders can muster! There's something for everyone. Hats off to our newly inducted military men and women that were sworn in Saturday night. High fives to the rodeo clown that kept us laughing and had the audience participating in the show. High fives to the bullfighters that throw themselves in harm's way for the sake of the riders. Great family fun!!
This was an awesome event. Our seats were great, right where they were coming out of the chutes. The music they played with each rider was right on. I would definitely go again.....I only wish it was longer.
The PBR was great. The AT&T center was a great place to have the event. Lots of entertainment. Would go again!
The event overall was great, I was a little disappointed in the fact that I could not bring my camera in which I had been able to for the last two times that PBR came to San Antonio without any incident. I saw other people with detachable cameras in the crowd taking photos but yet I was told I could not bring mine in, I was just trying to be honest, does not really pay off to be.
Had a fantasitic view, everything was great. More PBR events needed
The PBR is always good. The seats were great with an excellent view of all the action. I would go again and use Ticketmaster again. The parking pass was also a big help.
A lifetime rodeo and NASCAR fan disappointed at my first (and likely last) PBR event, as was my 16-year-old son. Excitement keeps everyone waiting for the bulls at a rodeo, but unless you're knowledgeable about individual riders this PBR program is not easy to follow. No scoreboard with names and times; no eight-second clock; an eight-second buzzer that wasn't always audible despite $52 seats (twice what championship rodeo costs). Lots of good bulls and great riders, but we were overwhelmed and left at intermission.
Although it was the first time attending this particular event, I was not impressed. I had higher expectations. It was explained to me that this show is the lower level of the PBR. Not knowing this in advance left me a bit disappointed. I would not tell anyone to not attend, but I would not go out of my way to recommend this show. It was entertaining, but I could sure find better ways to spend the amount of money we expended on this event. I have been to the local bull riding event at the Collier County Fairgrounds and other than the comfortable seating, I enjoyed it more than this PBR event.
My wife and daughter were nearly in teare when I suprised them with front row, section 20 seats. Simply amazingly up close and persona! Can't wait for the next event!
