    Half and Half

    by Cyanide666 on 11/7/10Ogden Theatre - Denver

Paul Oakenfold did an amazing set and it was absolutely phenomenal to watch him spin. He knew how to read the crowd and he gave them what they wanted and kept the energy high. He did not disappoint from beginning to end. Zen Freeman was less than pleasurable to watch. During his set he train wrecked the beat about 9 times, lost the beat completely around 4 times and could not read the crowd to save his life. He had his sound levels set very badly to the point where the highs were so loud it was actually painful to listen to him play.

    Oakenfold Tardy to the Party!

    by mojo303 on 11/7/10Ogden Theatre - Denver

Oakenfold didn't take the stage until after midnight. Much of the audience was either gone or their energy was already spent on Freeman's spins. Of course, Oakenfold was great, but it would have been truly INCREDIBLE had he started 2 hours earlier! Also the visuals were not up to Perfecto par.

    Paul rules!

by Sirelias on 11/7/10Ogden Theatre - Denver

This was the second time I've seen Paul Oakenfold. He is truly a master of his craft. From the time Zen Freeman started until the rave ended 4 hours later it was non-stop energy, fun, and dancing (hence a rave!). I highly recommend going to see Paul if you get the opportunity, you won't regret it!

Oakenfold needs to cater to his older audience

by Demro on 11/7/10Ogden Theatre - Denver

Ridiculous coming on at midnight. Many people left before he even got there. His audience is aging with him and doesn't care to wait till midnight for someone from back in the day.

    Kids

by babysitting on 11/7/10Ogden Theatre - Denver

If I had realized this was a 16+ event, I would never had gone! WAY too many kids running around (especially girls in teeny outfits) not hot at all - very annoying. Also, Zen Freeman played for THREE hours and by the time Oakenfold came on, everyone was getting bored.

    He phoned it in

by Woodyboyd on 6/8/10MontBleu Resort Casino & Spa - Lake Tahoe

I expected to be taken on a ride at an event like this, the supreme DJ, Mr rave himself, did nothing of the sort. 180 bpm with no journey, no start, no middle, no lows, and especially no climax. Paul Oakenfold spent more time talking to people at the back of the stage than he did addressing the crowd. By the 2 hour I had had enough as did most of the crowd. When I left, the place was less than 1/4 full. Big disappointment.

Lost all respect for Paul Oakenfold

by elkniwcire on 5/29/10MontBleu Resort Casino & Spa - Lake Tahoe

I can not believe how awful he was. It was like he didn't care about his fans at all. Not once did he even acknowledge the fans. He literally walked up on the stage, pressed play, and walked away. He would only come up to his turntables in front of the crowd to switch songs, otherwise he was standing in the back, mostly out of view, talking with people on the stage or flipping through is book of CDs. Luckily the opener DJ Kenneth Thomas was totally rad and knew how to work a crowd. I wish he would have come back and kick Oakenfold out.

Please return to the Firestone every 4 months like you talked about at the end of the show. Mr. Oakenfold plays a intense, high energetic performance that one must bring their dancing shoes to. The music never stops.

    Paul Oakenfold has IT!

    by f1883139 on 2/7/10Firestone Live - Orlando

First off, Paul Oakenfold still definitely has the beat, and it's louder and more encompassing than ever before! The show was nothing short of spectacular, held at the Firestone Club venue in Orlando, FL. Paul did something incredible that nite, which I think most crowds will favor along his tour; especially in this age of pre-recorded, computerized, flat-tracks, where the audio/visual is at times better(how?) than the actual music being played, Oakenfold has stuck to pumping his Old-School beats, with very few pre-recordings throughout the show. This man mixed live for over 2 hours, pure, fundamental goa/acid/trance/techno symphonies, fusing his original mid-nineties mixes which launched him to global stardom with a real modern edge. The venue is not large, and it's somewhat shameful that a name as big as Oakenfold cannot be housed somewhere larger in this city, because the crowd and demand just don't exist anymore. I gave four stars instead of five, due to the overwhelming amount of people that were let in, and people(women) which kept climbing on an already small stage, which club management, apparently had no problem with. As for the the venue, the drinks and bars were above decent, queuing and crowd control were very organized, securtiy was fairly heavy, and the A/V was on the light side(could've definitely been better, it's Paul Oakenfold for crying out loud), but I think this had more to do with the physical limitations of the venue, than intent by Paul. On a last note, if you haven't seen Oakenfold, live, or have merely forgotten about his music origins from long ago, do yourself a favour, and go see him. This man has, is, and always will be, by far, one of the top DJs in the world, in my book. You will not be disappointed, I can definitely promise you that.

    Awesome Mix Set

    by Troyboy1208 on 2/7/10Firestone Live - Orlando

Wow so Oakie was so awesome at Firestone in Orlando. He was really into it and had a ton of good mixes. He had some newer stuff which the crowd really got into and went back to his roots a bit with some older mixes. Overall a good time. He came on at 12:30 and played till 2:00. Not the longest set but nonetheless was of high quality. I was only 10 feet away from him and even got a high five at one point. Not bad for 22 dollars. My only complaint was that there were not enough people checking security as it took an hour to get inside (this is a small club btw). The flow from one side of the club to the other, most importantly the bars, was poor because they blocked off and area that people would normally walk through above the dance floor and made it into a VIP area. The entire upstairs was blocked off for VIPs which was a little much if you ask me but overall it was an amazing experience and would do it again in a heartbeat!

    Oakenfold in AC

by Debo1516 on 7/15/09Trump Taj Mahal - Atlantic City

This was my first time seeing Oakenfold live and we had a good time, but it didn't meet my expectations. He played good music, but not a lot of his own. He also didn't seem like he wanted to be there. He didn't really get into the music and he kept leaving the podium to go talk to his groupies, so it was kind of odd. Also, not sure who's fault it was, but the music was ridiculously loud, our ears were hurting so bad there, and afterwards. I've been to other electronic concerts and they weren't this loud. Besides those factors he still played some good music and the venue was a good place.
