About

Hailing from the hippie-loving, beachfront town of Byron Bay, Australia, metalcore outfit Parkway Drive blasted out of their serene surroundings touting a volatile blend of intricate metal riffing, punishing breakdowns, and hardcore's emotional tension. Named after a rural countryside road, the band was formed in summer 2003 by vocalist Winston McCall, guitarists Luke Kilpatrick and Jeff Ling, drummer Ben Gordon, and bassist Jia O'Connor. The five-piece outfit split an EP with like-minded countrymen I Killed the Prom Queen that same year, and later appeared on the local hardcore compilation What We've Built. This activity preceded the May 2005 release of Parkway Drive's debut EP, Don't Close Your Eyes, on the Sydney-based Resist Records. Parkway Drive continued building a respected name for themselves in the Australian hardcore scene, often opening for Bleeding Through, Shadows Fall, Every Time I Die, Hatebreed, and other American bands who were touring abroad. When the time came to do something traveling of their own, Parkway Drive journeyed to Massachusetts to record their inaugural full-length with Killswitch Engage's Adam Dutkiewicz. Recorded over a two-week period in 2005, Killing with a Smile entered the Australian Independent Chart at number two upon its February 2006 release. The debut album sold extremely well across the country and later saw a North American release through Epitaph Records, which issued the album in August. For the band's sophomore effort, Parkway Drive again traveled to Massachusetts to reprise their successful partnership with producer Dutkiewicz. The metallic Horizons emerged from those recording sessions, and Epitaph released the record in October 2006. In 2010, the band came back with their third full-length effort, Deep Blue. ~ Corey Apar & Andrew Leahey, Rovi

I honestly haven't heard anything from them before this concert, but the songs and the energy that the band was giving, made them a new favorite for me. I left the concert, finding myself immediately downloading their music

  • Well worth the money

I attended the Summer Of Loud with Parkway Drive performing last. Many of the other acts were fabulous, but when Parkway Drive came on, none of the other acts compared. The show and the music was incredible to see. The drummer was on a hamster wheel type thing that spun while he was playing, which was super cool. Their sound was so full and powerful that I would go see them again if they came back to Tampa.

  • Fanominal Show

by Cheryl B. on 6/26/25MIDFLORIDA Credit Union Amphitheatre at the FL State Fairgrounds - TampaRating: 5 out of 5

This was my first Metal Core show and it was freaking awesome!!! Every band sounded great! I very much enjoyed Alph Wolf! They put on one of the best performances of the nights! I had not really listened to them before now. They were amazing, along with I Prevail, and my favorite of the show was Parkway Drive. I was so excited to see them and they surpassed my expectations by a lot!!! I would totally love to see them again. They along with Alpha Wolf were interactive with the crowd (all the band were), they sounded amazing, and just did an excellent job! This was an awesome experience! So glad I had the opportunity to see such fantastic bands! I how Summer of Loud returns next year!!!! ❤❤❤❤❤

  • Awesome band and show.

by Robert on 6/25/25MIDFLORIDA Credit Union Amphitheatre at the FL State Fairgrounds - TampaRating: 5 out of 5

Great show by an awesome sounding metal band. In my opinion they need to headline a full set arena tour with one or two openers. Too many bands at festivals with limited time to play.

  • parkway is good

by ok on 6/25/25MIDFLORIDA Credit Union Amphitheatre at the FL State Fairgrounds - TampaRating: 5 out of 5

show was very very good, loved the fire, the bands i just wish parkway drive played more than 9 songs since beartooth, killswitch and i prevail played either 11 or 12 songs yet parkway only played 9 songs and they were the headliner for this show. need more parkway

  • Rotating Upside Down Fire Drum Box🔥

by Beej on 6/25/25MIDFLORIDA Credit Union Amphitheatre at the FL State Fairgrounds - TampaRating: 5 out of 5

Parkway Drive was so amazing, I’m so glad I got to see them two nights in a row. Explosive power with pyrotechnics and power drummer 🤘 I’ve seen drummers upside down, but not in a fire box. That rocked!!

  • Incredible

by Ozzmandrummer on 6/25/25MIDFLORIDA Credit Union Amphitheatre at the FL State Fairgrounds - TampaRating: 5 out of 5

One of the best shows I've seen at this venue. Parkway Drive blew everyone's minds with all the flames and the rotating drum cage!! Not to mention Killswitch Engage. They are incredible. With Jesse coming out into the crowd and to have Howard Jones be there to sign a song with them. Absolutely epic!!!

  • UNBELIEVABLE (in the BEST WAY!!!)

by The Shawn Must Go On on 6/25/25MIDFLORIDA Credit Union Amphitheatre at the FL State Fairgrounds - TampaRating: 5 out of 5

I first heard of Parkway Drive back in 2006, and kinda fell out around 2009. I didn’t really hear much about them, or hear any of their newer stuff, so I knew they would be hard and heavy, and would probably be good, but I had NO IDEA just how blown away I was about to be by their growth, evolution, stage command, and those pyrotechnics …. Holy [insert exploitive]!!! These guys were probably one of the best in this entire tour! They connected with the audience, they seemed so grateful to be on the tour, and their performances (every member of this band) was absolute perfection. Those vocals and screams, and those guitar riffs, and the upside down, completely on fire drummer…. WHAT?!? Man… I’m so glad I got to see this show and I’m so glad they were the closer that night, when I was actually upset about that at first because I came for I Prevail primarily. Parkway Drive is elite!

  • Wow!

by Pat P on 6/25/25MIDFLORIDA Credit Union Amphitheatre at the FL State Fairgrounds - TampaRating: 5 out of 5

What a show! All these bands put on fantastic sets! Really impressive performances and musicianship. Also everything ran on time. The format was a great concept!

  • Amazing, entertaining show

Parkway Drive put on an amazing show. Very entertaining. I would definitely see again.

  • summer of weak

by cgat76 on 6/25/25MIDFLORIDA Credit Union Amphitheatre at the FL State Fairgrounds - TampaRating: 2 out of 5

Smallest crowd I ever seen at the Amp. Paid for 4 lawn chairs but the crowd was so small, they gave us seats instead (very tight and confined). Of course parking is $25 now, was always free. The openers were not very good except Killswitch. I will stick to the clubs and smaller venues from now on. Plenty of other great local places to see metal bands in this area. Only paid $20 each night to park for Metallica two weeks ago.

  • Summer of loud

You must see this show!!! If you're into hardcore and metal, this is the your for you. The 4 headliners switch closing the show every night

  • Amazing!

by Joe on 7/21/24Rating: 5 out of 5

I saw them at Rockfest 2024 in Cadott, WI. I am not a huge fan, and I was not there to see them, but they knocked it out of the park. It was like listening to the actual track. They were more true to sound than any of the other bands aside from the headliners.

  • Neck breaking metal

by Stephen on 12/15/23Rating: 5 out of 5

The San Antonio show was the highlight of my year. Parkway Drive did not disappoint. The show was flawless like listening to the album note for note. They played a long set that included most of their popular songs. I couldn’t get enough.

  • Awesome show

    by Marc V on 9/26/23Place Bell - LavalRating: 5 out of 5

It's the kind of group, when even if you don't know their musics your gonna have an awesome show ! A must see in my books

  • Made for the headliner

by Matt on 9/22/23Place Bell - LavalRating: 4 out of 5

I bought my ticket at the last minute and was mainly going for the headliner (Parkway Drive). Although it was an all Australian bands tour and it could've helped showcase new talent, this specific venue felt like it was obviously focused on the last act, but too obvious. The way the other bands were lit, and playing in front of the huge curtain could've been better established. But since I was going for the main act, I definitely had a blast.

  • Insane show - best I've been to

by DT on 9/22/23Place Bell - LavalRating: 5 out of 5

I've been to around 10 shows. This one was just on another level, parkway brought the thunder, and montreal vibes were unreal. So worth the drive to the show.
