About

Hailing from the hippie-loving, beachfront town of Byron Bay, Australia, metalcore outfit Parkway Drive blasted out of their serene surroundings touting a volatile blend of intricate metal riffing, punishing breakdowns, and hardcore's emotional tension. Named after a rural countryside road, the band was formed in summer 2003 by vocalist Winston McCall, guitarists Luke Kilpatrick and Jeff Ling, drummer Ben Gordon, and bassist Jia O'Connor. The five-piece outfit split an EP with like-minded countrymen I Killed the Prom Queen that same year, and later appeared on the local hardcore compilation What We've Built. This activity preceded the May 2005 release of Parkway Drive's debut EP, Don't Close Your Eyes, on the Sydney-based Resist Records. Parkway Drive continued building a respected name for themselves in the Australian hardcore scene, often opening for Bleeding Through, Shadows Fall, Every Time I Die, Hatebreed, and other American bands who were touring abroad. When the time came to do something traveling of their own, Parkway Drive journeyed to Massachusetts to record their inaugural full-length with Killswitch Engage's Adam Dutkiewicz. Recorded over a two-week period in 2005, Killing with a Smile entered the Australian Independent Chart at number two upon its February 2006 release. The debut album sold extremely well across the country and later saw a North American release through Epitaph Records, which issued the album in August. For the band's sophomore effort, Parkway Drive again traveled to Massachusetts to reprise their successful partnership with producer Dutkiewicz. The metallic Horizons emerged from those recording sessions, and Epitaph released the record in October 2006. In 2010, the band came back with their third full-length effort, Deep Blue. ~ Corey Apar & Andrew Leahey, Rovi

  • Unbelievable

by Ray on 7/16/25Credit Union 1 Amphitheatre - Tinley ParkRating: 5 out of 5

The bands were all amazing! The venue was top tier! And the women's bathroom they had feminine products for free which was amazing! And you cannot be paying $11 for a hard plastic souvenir cup and getting free refills all night! The free refills are super helpful especially for people who are sober and or trying to stay sober at an event!!!!! Every single one of these staff members were very attentive and I cannot wait to come back to this venue to see more great artists!!!!!

Every band in the lineup did an amazing job. Far as the amphitheater goes, I'm not sure I will be attending any more shows there.

  • Great lineup. Need more metal bands to come through

Never a dull moment with metal bands. It was a shame the lawn was closed off. Being in seats was a great time though being closer to the bands. Please bring back more metal bands or festivals.

  • Mind blowing

From beginning to end, every band that played put on a great show. Parkway Drive was even better than I expected them to be live. Looking forward to seeing them again.

  • Nice venue, overpriced food and beverages.

Nice clean venue with good sound. Food and beverages insanely priced even for a concert.

  • Absolutely awesome

by Kinger on 7/15/25Somerset Amphitheater - SomersetRating: 5 out of 5

Venue was great, people were really nice. Facilities were clean. Organized really well. My wife's first outside concert and she loved it. Parkway Drive was amazing. Killswitch engage sounds better live and their energy really whips up the crowd.

  • Summer of loud somerset wi

by Randyinthepit on 7/14/25Somerset Amphitheater - SomersetRating: 5 out of 5

Parkway Drive, along with EVERY other band on this tour, put it all out there for the crowd. Every set, every song, they gave the best version I've heard ever!! Maybe its because you can feel the music, maybe its because you experience it with the entire crowd together, maybe its the emotional connection of every band member to every song they pour into those speakers..maybe, its Maybelline. Epic renewal for live performances.

  • Summer of LOUD

by Master Nater on 7/14/25Somerset Amphitheater - SomersetRating: 4 out of 5

Somerset Amphitheater was an awesome venue for a loud metal/rock line-up! Plenty of onsite parking although we parked in a dirt lot in town and walked a quick <mile. Choosing the grass with a rented lawn chair made for a great view with plenty of room to move around or walk up closer if desired. This venue gave the option to rent chairs for about $15 since you cannot bring your own in. The music, lights, sound.. all crisp! Never a line in the bathrooms and there were food and beverages available (kinda spendy but expected). Overall it was an incredible concert and I look forward to my next in Somerset.

  • I had fun listening to the music.

by Miranda on 7/14/25Somerset Amphitheater - SomersetRating: 4 out of 5

The music was fun. There are a couple things I'm going to point out from going to a few concerts/festivals and one main one is the water stations. I do like there was a new one and the old one was taken out the only thing I suggest is to put two more stations in spread out in the venue. Another suggestion is to have the food trucks around the whole venue. You could get more food trucks and vendors in by having them around the whole venue.

  • Talk about killing a venue!

by Becks on 7/14/25Somerset Amphitheater - SomersetRating: 3 out of 5

While the bands were great, this venue is terrible under Live Nation. Drinks SO expensive, merch only at the top of the hill, one water station (mult spigots, but still), had to go through security gates at two closely-situated but different security stations + two separate purse checks, made-to-order cocktails require a $21 wristband to even gain access to the bar. No jumbotrons for those way back in the lawn. There is no reason to go here again, and Live Nation itself is probably why tickets sales suffered.

  • Best Lineup!!

Parkway Drive was insane, absolutely killed the performance. They should’ve headlined the show. A ton of energy by the lead singer, and the drummer was amazing !!!!

They put on the absolute BEST show I have ever been to! I'll find a way to always go when they come to Texas!

  • An excellent live performance.

by Daniel R on 7/1/25The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion sponsored by Huntsman - The WoodlandsRating: 5 out of 5

Winston McCall has an amazing stage presence, and very enthusiastic and emphatic with using his hands and body language to pour out his songs for the crowd. I went in only knowing 3 Parkway songs before the set, and my roommate- who had never heard one before- demanded we listen to their set again on the drive home. I could hardly sneak any other artists in edgewise on the playlist back to Houston!
