About

Hailing from the hippie-loving, beachfront town of Byron Bay, Australia, metalcore outfit Parkway Drive blasted out of their serene surroundings touting a volatile blend of intricate metal riffing, punishing breakdowns, and hardcore's emotional tension. Named after a rural countryside road, the band was formed in summer 2003 by vocalist Winston McCall, guitarists Luke Kilpatrick and Jeff Ling, drummer Ben Gordon, and bassist Jia O'Connor. The five-piece outfit split an EP with like-minded countrymen I Killed the Prom Queen that same year, and later appeared on the local hardcore compilation What We've Built. This activity preceded the May 2005 release of Parkway Drive's debut EP, Don't Close Your Eyes, on the Sydney-based Resist Records. Parkway Drive continued building a respected name for themselves in the Australian hardcore scene, often opening for Bleeding Through, Shadows Fall, Every Time I Die, Hatebreed, and other American bands who were touring abroad. When the time came to do something traveling of their own, Parkway Drive journeyed to Massachusetts to record their inaugural full-length with Killswitch Engage's Adam Dutkiewicz. Recorded over a two-week period in 2005, Killing with a Smile entered the Australian Independent Chart at number two upon its February 2006 release. The debut album sold extremely well across the country and later saw a North American release through Epitaph Records, which issued the album in August. For the band's sophomore effort, Parkway Drive again traveled to Massachusetts to reprise their successful partnership with producer Dutkiewicz. The metallic Horizons emerged from those recording sessions, and Epitaph released the record in October 2006. In 2010, the band came back with their third full-length effort, Deep Blue. ~ Corey Apar & Andrew Leahey, Rovi

    Honest review

by PMJohnson09 on 2/19/23The Fillmore Charlotte - Charlotte

The Fillmore is on the small side making it a more intimate experience but also has its challenges because a lot of floor space is taped off for walkway only . The bands were all very engaging with the crowd which makes the experience so much better and got the crowd going. Not really impressed with the VIP area other than not having to stand in line for the bathroom or drinks. Unfortunately unless you pay an additional $75 per person (on top of what was spent for VIP access) you can’t sit down and most of the VIP area is roped off. It was a great show as I am a huge fan of Memphis May Fire and Parkway Drive. All in all I would do it again.

Parkway Drive - Do Not Miss Them

by Jasmine on 2/13/23The Paramount - Huntington

I've seen Parkway Drive multiple times and each time that they play I get chills. You could say nostalgia but they are just so into what they do and their music is unlike anyone else. They are very unique and they are the reason so many bands came after them and the same vein. If you want to see some OG's doing what they do best and they come through your town don't miss them. They come from Australia so they don't come here very often.

    Immaculate Vibes

by Kay on 2/13/23The Paramount - Huntington

To start the openers we’re amazing. Current and Memphis May Fire did a phenomenal job getting the crowd in the zone for Parkway Drive. Each band had great stage presence, strong energy and passion. I definitely recommend seeing any of these bands if you get the chance!

    Great concert

by DJ on 2/13/23The Paramount - Huntington

Small venue so music gets really loud, but perfect because it feels like you’re own private concert. No seat is bad, and Memphis Mayfire and Parkway Drive put on a great show

    Amazing

by Emachu on 2/11/23The Pageant - St Louis

On of the best concerts I've been to! Did the meet n' greet, and it was awesome. Super nice guys! My only complaint is that I wish that the venue would have sold tickets for the balcony and not let it be a free for all. You could have filled way more seats by selling tickets vs letting people choose and leaving empty seats between groups.
