About

Hailing from the hippie-loving, beachfront town of Byron Bay, Australia, metalcore outfit Parkway Drive blasted out of their serene surroundings touting a volatile blend of intricate metal riffing, punishing breakdowns, and hardcore's emotional tension. Named after a rural countryside road, the band was formed in summer 2003 by vocalist Winston McCall, guitarists Luke Kilpatrick and Jeff Ling, drummer Ben Gordon, and bassist Jia O'Connor. The five-piece outfit split an EP with like-minded countrymen I Killed the Prom Queen that same year, and later appeared on the local hardcore compilation What We've Built. This activity preceded the May 2005 release of Parkway Drive's debut EP, Don't Close Your Eyes, on the Sydney-based Resist Records. Parkway Drive continued building a respected name for themselves in the Australian hardcore scene, often opening for Bleeding Through, Shadows Fall, Every Time I Die, Hatebreed, and other American bands who were touring abroad. When the time came to do something traveling of their own, Parkway Drive journeyed to Massachusetts to record their inaugural full-length with Killswitch Engage's Adam Dutkiewicz. Recorded over a two-week period in 2005, Killing with a Smile entered the Australian Independent Chart at number two upon its February 2006 release. The debut album sold extremely well across the country and later saw a North American release through Epitaph Records, which issued the album in August. For the band's sophomore effort, Parkway Drive again traveled to Massachusetts to reprise their successful partnership with producer Dutkiewicz. The metallic Horizons emerged from those recording sessions, and Epitaph released the record in October 2006. In 2010, the band came back with their third full-length effort, Deep Blue. ~ Corey Apar & Andrew Leahey, Rovi

They never fail to deliver. They are always clean in their breakdowns and everything they do. Even with another member in a wheelchair. They are always worth seeing

My Girlfriend and I came from Florida just for this concert. It was totally worth it, UABB and Parkway Drive did amazing. We have been following them both since the beginning.

  • parkway drive always puts on a good show

by lukealo on 4/25/13House of Blues Chicago - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

The crowd always gives back soo much energy with the mosh pits, circle pits and all around insanity. Not to mention the inflatable water toys that have been present at every show I've been to of theirs.

  • Parkway Amazing as Usual

    by TheIronMaiden12 on 4/21/13Saint Andrews Hall - DetroitRating: 5 out of 5

This was one of the best shows I've ever been to. It was the last concert on their tour and it they still had as much energy as it was the first. They played a good variety of new and older songs and had great stage presence. Veil of Maya was a sick opeing act to have there too. Definitely catching these guys when they're back in the US again.

by Pwd28 on 4/20/13House of Blues Chicago - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

Parkway Drive has been my favorite band since 7th grade and they did not disappoint at all. Winston Mccall was amazing and never let the music slow down, the crowd was also brutal, there were so many people there wasnt even a main pit. Hours of blues was the perfect venue and I look forward to their upcoming concerts.

For being in america for the first time, while she sleeps was peetty good. Although their music kinda sounds the same, they played well. The frontman was awesome. Veil of maya kept the place alive, they played an amazing set, couldve been longer. The word alive was ok, nothing special. Parkway drive was pretty good. No complaints, good light show, great atmosphere

  • Long live metal

by Punkroker on 4/13/13The Fillmore Charlotte - CharlotteRating: 5 out of 5

Best screaming metal show I have been too lately and we go to a lot of metal shows, the Filmore was alive, the crowd was intense and the bands fed off of this. Great show by all bands but man Parkway Drive brought it and I mean brought it. Place was packed which I like to see that new metal is alive and well. Real music not junk that america listens to on the radio, this is in your face awesome metal. Great concert will go see them many times when they come around.

  • Parkway drive!!

by joethieme on 4/12/13Soma - San DiegoRating: 3 out of 5

The best metalcore out there in my opinion, and they put on a consistently good show. I would recommend anyone see them but I wish they would play older songs. They played 5 songs from newest cd atlas, 4 from deep blue (2010) and 4 from horizons (2007). While I love all those CDs, nothing beats don't close your eyes and killing with a smile, their EP and freshman album. How could they skip both of them entirely?!? Anyways, go see em ASAP but I would rate it lower I'd youve seen them multiple times because chances are you'll see quite a familiar performance.

  • Parkway Drive best concert ever

by sweeeeetjustletmereviewth on 4/12/13Masquerade - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

I'm 25 years old, I went to the Parkway Drive concert at the Masq this time last year and it was the best concert I had ever been to, so I couldn't miss them when they were going to be here again! They didn't disappoint! I will see them everytime they're at the Masquerade.

  • Parkway Drive is amazing

    by CastorTroy45 on 4/11/13Masquerade - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

The masquerade in Atlanta is the perfect venue for a metalcore band. This was the first time I saw parkway drive live and wow do they put on a show. The instruments sound clear and the double base was superb. Parkway drive is the best live band I've ever seen. It was well worth the 10 hour drive.

  • by Perfectly0flawed on 4/7/13House of Blues Dallas - DallasRating: 5 out of 5

Parkway drive was amazing! Though I think the opening bands were louder and the main act should be the loudest.

  • Parkway Drive is the one of the best live acts.

by JSome on 4/5/13Soma - San DiegoRating: 5 out of 5

It was really fun and just like they always are. The only thing to complain about was that they didn't play anything from Killing with a Smile.

  • Parkway Drive rocked my socks off!

by EvanJH on 4/1/13House of Blues Sunset Strip - West HollywoodRating: 5 out of 5

So good, it was my first time seeing them and my first time at HOB LA. They were so good live. They kept the crowd going and had a badass stage presence. If you get a chance to see them, do it! You won't be disappointed. Carrion!
