About

PAM TILLIS IN CONCERT:

Grammy-winning country singer-songwriter Pam Tillis is Nashville born and bred, and her heritage is on full display at her live shows. Tillis boasts an impressive pedigree – her father is famed country singer Mel Tillis, and her boot-stomping performances, exuding plenty of downhome pride and tradition, are the next best thing to a trip to Music City. Taking the stage with an acoustic guitar, Tillis wrings every last drop of emotion from finely crafted cuts like "Maybe It Was Memphis" and "Shake the Sugar Tree." Meanwhile her band whips up a high-energy mix of slide guitar, violin, bass, and drums that perfectly complements her relaxed vocals and unhurried delivery. It's a no-frills country party any time Pam Tillis performs, and ticket buyers are never disappointed by her arresting voice and feel-good stage presence.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Growing up the daughter of a country star, Pam Tillis was immersed in the Nashville music scene from the get-go. She made her singing debut at the Grand Ole Opry at age 8, and by her teens she was writing songs and playing the piano and guitar. She cut her teeth in the early '70s penning tunes for artists like Gloria Gaynor and Chaka Khan, and in 1981 she signed to Warner Bros. Records. Her 1983 debut album didn't make much of an impact, but she found chart success mid-decade with a string of non-album singles including "Those Memories of You" and "There Goes My Love." She signed to Arista Nashville in 1989, kicking off a successful period that included the Top 10 albums Put Yourself in My Place (1991) and Sweetheart's Dance (1994), the latter of which contained her first No. 1 single "Mi Vida Loca (My Crazy Life)." Since then she's remained prolific, touring extensively and impressing fans with albums like 2013's Dos Divas, a celebrated collection of duets recorded with Lorrie Morgan.

A ticket back to the past

by Paulnstl on 7/24/10Lumiere Place - St. Louis

These two legends of country music hail from legendary families of their own. Both were mainstays on the charts back in the 1990s and early 2000s, however, since then they have failed to maintain their mega success. Call it a changing of the guards, if you will. Along with several other acts from that powerful decade, they just cannot compete in the current marketplace, so they are regulated to playing small intimate theatres and casinso. If they knew this was in their future, I think they would shudder at that. With all that being said, the Gritz and Glamour tour as Pam Tillis declared it was a nice change up in a traditional concert ticket. Merging these two talents seems odd at first, but the small space, the acoustic theme was right up their alley. Singing back and forth verses on the first song and then each artist singing a hit of their past the show moved rapidly. The banter between the both and the humor they projected was a nice reminder of how down to earth country singers really are! Lorrie sang back up on quite a bit of Pam's songs, while Pam just kind of sat there and looked at her feet during Lorrie's numbers. A stand out was when Pam sang a verse of Something in Red which brought the audience to their feet! They ended the show with a rousing gospel number and then they were off to rest before the next show. 60 minutes, short, sweet and left you wanting more. They both sounded great! Pam in fact had never sounded better! Lorrie's voice, as always, shows off the years and and wisdom her life has given her. I wish they would have sang newer songs from their newest albums (Lorrie claimed I Walk Alone was new, but since it was recorded a few years back, I did not count it), but I know they had to perform to what the audience would want to hear. I can just imagine that Pam is sick of singing Mi Vida Loca!

I would go see that show every weekend!!

by LorrieFan on 7/24/10Lumiere Place - St. Louis

Despite the fact that the show was short, I would go see that show every weekend at the Lumiere Place! I loved the General Admission ticket sales. I was able to see Lorrie Morgan and Pam Tillis from the front row! Also, both artists signed autographs after the show! I hope that Lumiere Place welcomes more country music artists in the future - especially Lorrie Morgan!!

    The show was great!!

by NYRinStLouis on 7/24/10Lumiere Place - St. Louis

Pam and Lorrie put on a great show. They were on stage together singing each others greatest hits and they sounded great together. They both joked around and had alot of fun on stage. The only disappointing thing was, the show was only one hour long due to them having another show later that night.

    Over before it got started

by uncdon on 7/24/10Lumiere Place - St. Louis

The talent was great, the seating and overall theater is very poor, the show was much too short, 45 minutes including introductions.

    Good show!

by Kipiwi on 7/24/10Lumiere Place - St. Louis

Music was great! Only complaint was that the show was supposed to start at 7 PM, it started late and then was over by 8 PM. They played and sang for less than an hour, we felt a little cheated for the money spent.

    Great Show

    by countryfan61 on 4/25/10Bojangles' Coliseum - Charlotte

Pam was great. I have always wanted to see her perform. There was one technical glitch. A few times there was quite a bit of what I guess you would call feedback. That squealing noise. But, they got it corrected fairly quickly. That is the only thing that kept me from giving her 5 stars. She graciously signed autographs after the show.

    Pam Tillis was audience friendly

    by 222Barbiedoll on 7/16/09Snoqualmie Casino-Ballroom - Snoqualmie

Pam Tillis was great, all my favorite songs. Her style to talk about her music and life growing up with her dad Mel Tillis and his dreams for her and her willingness to accept the talent for Country Music and find her own unique talents. The venue was very comfortable and our seats were great. I would love to see her next time she visits the Seattle area.

When Miss Tillis comes on the stage you know you are about to be entertained by an extremely talented gal. She makes you feel like you would like to listen to her all night. Her personality is so genuine that you feel like you have known her all of your life. Her lyrics are positive and no one would ever be offended by her sterling performance. She is tops!

    by Tboy on 7/13/09Snoqualmie Casino-Ballroom - Snoqualmie

This was the first show I had been to at the Snoqualmie Casino. It was a great venue for this concert. We sat 4 rows back and had a great view of Pam Tillis. I dont think there was a bad seat in the house.

I have always loved Pam Tillis and her amazing talent. She is so genuine and real. You can tell that she sings with her heart - real feelings. Her voice is so perfect and angelic. We thoroughly enjoyed her show. There's no false anything about her. She continually engaged the audience and I love that she shared stories of her life and her father's life. Very very entertaining. I would go to another show of her's in a heartbeat!!

    Extraordinary and Magnificant

    by mavio on 7/12/09Snoqualmie Casino-Ballroom - Snoqualmie

I have never been a country fan and had never heard of Pam Tillis until I read her bio. She is a gifted entertainer and knows how to work a crowd. Each member of her backup band had their own talents and she had no problem sharing the stage with them and letting them showcase those talents. After the show she sat at a table and signed autographs and talked with each and every one who stopped by, whether you bought one of her CD's or not. We bought her new CD and we listen to it in the car quite often and it brings back the memory of a truly enjoyable evening We will be back for her next concert.
