Dolby Theatre, what's with the poor sound/synching of a/v

by Lslondre on 4/21/24Dolby Theatre - Hollywood

You asked. One of the worst things about Paley, and I love programming. As a Marketing professional if I were Dolby I'd take our name off. The sound is so poor and picture doesn’t sync with sound. A great example of dumb sponsorships and poor product benefits.

    Paleyfest at Dolby Theater

by Dave on 4/21/24Dolby Theatre - Hollywood

The program with Curb Your Enthusiasm was wonderful. All of the pre-show advertising regarding joining the William S Paley foundation and thanking the many, many supporters was a little too much for a captive audience that was there to see the actors. Getting out of the underground parking garage at Ovation Center was an absolute nightmare. Not only the lines to prepay parking at the few machines that were working, but also the line to get out! Why not accept prepaid parking upon entry – – that would at least solve half the problem?

    So much fun

by Fran on 4/21/24Dolby Theatre - Hollywood

The Curb Your Enthusiasm night was the best. Insights, humor, and just plain fun. The biggest draw back for us this year especially was the fact that the tech was terrible. Screen view was fuzzy and vocals out of sync with echoes to boot! Hope that gets rectified for next year. Even the cast of Curb commented on it being a problem for them!

    Disappointed

by Cali Prof on 4/18/24Dolby Theatre - Hollywood

We love Seth Meyers and Andy Samberg, but this evening left us disappointed. First off, the sound system was awful. We also had hoped for some of Seth’s political wit. There were some laughs, but overall not that enjoyable. We saw Colbert a few years ago at Paley Fest and he was wonderful, so we had high hopes for this evening.

Loki panel (Saturday April 13th, 2024)

by Ella on 4/18/24Dolby Theatre - Hollywood

5 stars because I deeply enjoyed the cast panel and had so much fun! The theater is gorgeous and the Paleyfest show production was top notch. My two disappointments were big inconsistencies with the security team’s protocols, like letting some people record video but not others and sometimes allowing water in the theater and sometimes not. Then the screening for Loki was bad quality, lagging screen and tinny but too loud of audio. All in all though I deeply enjoyed my time and will come again!

    Fun event

by Sam on 4/18/24Dolby Theatre - Hollywood

We flew from out of state to see this event as my daughter absolutely loves Tom Hiddleston and Loki. The event was pretty cool however it would’ve been nicer to hear more from the panelists.

    Young Sheldon at Paley.

by Cy on 4/17/24Dolby Theatre - Hollywood

We enjoyed the show. But my phone did not get us in. It did not show my ticket. I was brought to the Box Office. They printed out our tickets.

There was lots of energy for the creators and cast

by TK on 4/17/24Dolby Theatre - Hollywood

I wasn't expecting so many young people at the event. There were many young men and women very excited to see Ian Armitage and Raegan Revord (Sheldon and Missy) keeping the energy very high. Melissa Peterman, who plays Brenda, did an excellent job as moderator.

    Very good

by Debbie on 4/17/24Dolby Theatre - Hollywood

All the staff at the Dolby Theater were very helpful and very friendly. For the Young Sheldon show, they began by running this week's TV episode. We DId NOT want to see this - why? We came for the live action. We fell this was an unnecessary time waster and therefore, made it shorter for the cast to be on stage. The narrator was excellent. She was quick, funny, and prepared - until towards the end when she repeated a question she had already asked - what was your favorite episode - why? The cast was friendly and responsive and it was a pleasure to hear from everyone.

    Fun Event...but some caveat's

by Mel on 4/16/24Dolby Theatre - Hollywood

The PaleyFest event was well organized and a fun event to go and see talent at the Dolby Theatre. The talent they interview are for some of the best shows. It was a bit distracting because there was confetti that kept falling from the top of the theatre onto the stage. There would be random pieces falling that it kept interrupting the Q&A. Also, the last thing I was disappointed about is not being able to take pictures of the talent as they are on stage. You are not allowed to take any video or pictures. So, you basically have no way of looking back at this event unless you watch the video recording of it.

    Underwhelming

by DBH on 4/16/24Dolby Theatre - Hollywood

First, the Dolby Theater just isn't a fun place to visit. The parking lot is a mess, there are so many escalators to navigate to get to the theater. The seats and legroom were uncomfortable. Regarding the event itself, I was disappointed at the commercials and promotions to start things considering how much I spent on the tickets. And then why did we have to sit through an entire episode of the show? Filling time? All in all, not worth it and I won't be going back to the Dolby Theater for anything.

    Assisted Listening Device

by LR on 4/16/24Dolby Theatre - Hollywood

The assisted listening device, which the Dolby theater is required by law to provide to any patron requesting it, was vey ineffective. It barely amplified the sound. I missed much of the discussion. Not sure if this is a problem regarding how the speakers were miked or the sound system itself. It seemed that most of the speakers had no concept they should be speaking to us, the audience. Instead, they spoke as if they were on a living room couch, just chatting with each other, oblivious to the hundreds who had paid $ to hear them. The moderator, although intelligent and prepared with good questions, never really turned her head to us so all we saw was her profile which made it even more difficult to hear. These problems did not present themselves last year with the Mrs. Maisel evening. I could hear everything. But no so with The Morning Show presentation. Someone needs to get their act together.

    Great panel but sound/video issues

by Dijou on 4/15/24Dolby Theatre - Hollywood

What could have been an AMAZING event was marred by poor sound quality, the sound/video being out of sync (lips and hands moving on the big screen a half a second after they happened in real-time) and the video clips ceasing to work about 2/3 of the way through. Kind of ironic that a center for MEDIA could not get the media working :-/ Panelist/cast/creative - 5+ stars Technical - 3 stars

Paleyfest Morning Show was a Middling Show

by Noncentz on 4/15/24Dolby Theatre - Hollywood

I've been to a few Paleyfests and, considering what they nominally celebrate, I was disappointed in the poor technical quality of this year's tribute to The Morning Show. While the interviews were interesting and often funny, the audio and video element was sorely lacking. The audio level through the speaker was irritatingly low. I was in the front row of the mezzanine and it was often hard to make out what was being said. Further, the introductory speaker was projected on a large screen but the audio was a couple of seconds out of sync. Later, they had to scrap the video clips because for some reason, the projector stopped working. This, after some of the videos lagged, as if they were streaming without a strong signal. Still, the cast told some interesting stories about production, as well as what they see as the future of production post-strike.

    A amazing experience

by Estelle on 4/15/24Dolby Theatre - Hollywood

I was a the panel from the TMS with all the cast. The view from my seat was amazing! 1h30 of pure pleasure with the actors especially Jennifer Aniston. Thanks you to the organizers of this event, and I hope to be able to come back next year and see the TMS cast again!

    First two nights were amazing!!

by SW on 4/15/24Dolby Theatre - Hollywood

Aside from the volume being a little low the first night, it’s been everything advertised and then some. Really enjoyable with Morning Show and Loki so far. Looking forward to next week.
