Pac-12 Men's Basketball Tournament
Pride and a guaranteed spot in the NCAA tournament are on the line every March in the Pac-12 Men's Basketball Tournament. All 12 teams in the Pac-12 Conference are eligible to participate, with the top four teams receiving a first-round bye, giving every team a shot at making the Big Dance. After an 11 year run at the Los Angeles' Staples Center, since 2013 the Pac-12 Tournament has been held on the Las Vegas Strip in Paradise, Nevada: First at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, then moving to the T-Mobile Arena in 2017 (which seats 18,000 for basketball).
Pac-12 Men's Basketball Tournament History
The Pac-12 Conference was originally founded in 1959 as the Athletic Association of Western Universities, but it has ties to the Pacific Coast Conference, which existed from 1915 to 1959. What was first dubbed the Pac-8 became the Pac-10 in 1978, with the addition of Arizona and Arizona State, and further realignment in 2011 led to the inclusion of Utah and Colorado, and the current moniker. The Pac-12 has won 15 NCAA championships, tying the Atlantic Coast Conference for the most titles by a conference.
After an initial attempt at a Pac-10 Conference Tournament from 1987 to 1990, the format was reintroduced in 2002 with greater success. The Pac-10 was among the last conferences to adopt a conference tournament format, with the Big Ten introducing its tournament in 1998, and the Ivy League finally getting one in 2017. UCLA won the inaugural tournament in 1987, with Reggie Miller securing the Pac-10 tourney's first MVP award. Arizona won the next four tournaments, including the last three in the original series and its reintroduction in 2002. Many stars and legends have dominated in the tournament, including two-time MVPs Sean Elliott and Isaiah Thomas, as well as 2018 No. 1 NBA draft pick Deandre Ayton. The 2019 tournament saw Oregon upset Washington 68-48 in the championship, behind the performance of tourney MVP Payton Pritchard.

by babygirl1950 on 3/15/15MGM Grand Garden Arena - Las VegasGetting another opportunity to see the CATS play is great! Seeing all the fans in RED and the support is great! Watching our CATS interact with the crowd/fans is priceless! The venue is old but it does have a comfortable feel to it. Would recommend the experience to any diehard fan.

Rating: 5 out of 5 PAC 12 tourney in Vegas is awesome!
by DAQCN on 3/21/14MGM Grand Garden Arena - Las VegasI heard rumors that the pac12 tourney might not be held in Vegas much longer. I hope this is not true! Las Vegas is a great place to watch the games live and spend some time with the family or friends afterwards.
Rating: 4 out of 5 PAC 12 MEN'S BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT
by Anonymous on 3/20/14MGM Grand Garden Arena - Las VegasThe event was great since we won! I have been to several tournaments in the past and they have all been exciting and fun. The "in-and-out " of the event was a plus because it allowed you to go have a bite to eat in the food court since the concessions were limited in food selection. There was a rule where you were allowed to take in bottled water however without a cap which was counterproductive. The arena was small enough so that wherever you sat you could see the game easily. Overall it was a fun event.
Rating: 5 out of 5 PAC-12 BB Tournament Experience
by TucsonHuskyFan on 3/19/14MGM Grand Garden Arena - Las VegasI attended the semifinals and final of the PAC-12 BB tournament. The total atmosphere was great, from the crowd assemblying outside the arena prior to the games right through the final buzzer. The event is very well run and managed at the MGM. Even though my horse, the UW Huskies, were long gone before the semifinals the games and overall experience were great. I would recommend the event to all basketball fans.
Rating: 3 out of 5 Decent Venue with quirks and stranges situations
by Warren428 on 3/19/14MGM Grand Garden Arena - Las VegasOK I very much enjoyed the 22-5 start by the UCLA Bruins against the Stanford Cardinal, but the insufferable Wildcat fans almost ruined it for me, but the free concession item for being a Bank of the West cardholder, which allowed me to get a double cheeseburger with fries...very cool! Then when no one would fill my empty Nalgene bottle with ice and/or water I was forced to fill my bottle with bathroom water from a faucet, which was very disappointing. I liked all the giveaways, from the placards to the tee shirts to the foam fingers.
Rating: 5 out of 5by Anonymous on 3/18/14MGM Grand Garden Arena - Las Vegas It was awesome! Only wish Arizona would have won!!
Rating: 5 out of 5 Pac 12 Final
by kctom on 3/18/14MGM Grand Garden Arena - Las VegasWonderful facility and the game was absolutely fantastic. Wish the Tall Saguaros had won, but the experience was great. Seats were high, but most sight-lines are good no matter where you sit. Wildcats will get them in the NCAA Tourney! Bear Down!
Rating: 4 out of 5 Blocked
by WildestCat on 3/18/14MGM Grand Garden Arena - Las VegasGreat event except the corner video boards blocked the view of the score board. Could not see the score of the game.
Rating: 4 out of 5 Nice Event
by Visitor3 on 3/18/14MGM Grand Garden Arena - Las VegasThe tournament was tremendous...nice facility. The only complaint I would have is that the experience was over-produced. Instead of a college basketball environment, it was more of a professional basketball production. Ear-splitting music at every time-out/half-time, with constant exhortations by MC to stand and scream for the latest give-away. I'm probably in the minority but I prefer music from the pep bands, etc. That being said, the overall experience of being in Vegas for the tournament was tremendous.
Rating: 5 out of 5 Good tournament
by 13243674345153 on 3/18/14MGM Grand Garden Arena - Las VegasGames was great, seat were good but the officials made some bad calls and weren't held accountable for it. How many officials does it take to officiate a good game? More than there was at the tournament.
Rating: 4 out of 5 Well Worth the Price
by 520Moose on 3/18/14MGM Grand Garden Arena - Las VegasI liked the view and the seats in general. It was a really fund time, except for my Wildcats losing.
