Payable on Death, otherwise known as P.O.D. has recently emerged from a brief hiatus with the much-anticipated release of a deluxe edition of hit album "Murdered Love." Included among the many remixed tracks are bonus singles such as "Burn It Down" and "Find A Way." The band does not plan to go on tour in the immediate future, as its members see maintaining their current levels of mental health as a major priority over selling tickets. However, should any of their hard-rocking, head-banging future concerts occur, the focus would likely be on a return to P.O.D.'s roots as a Christian nu-metal band.
P.O.D. has a long history as a force for shaking up the often complacent world of Christian music. The group first formed in the early 90s, when Wuv Bernardo and Marcos Curiel came together for frequent jam sessions. These original members were quickly joined by the equally talented Gabe Portillo and Sonny Sandoval. Given Sandoval's transition to Christianity in the aftermath of his mother's death, it came as little surprise when the band - previously dedicated to Metallica covers - began playing songs that were clearly religious in nature. Their early Christian rock successes include such hit albums as "Snuff The Punk" and "Brown" in the mid 90s, which were later followed by "The Fundamental Elements of Southtown" and "Satellite." More recently, the band released "Murdered Love," a hit album that reached No. 17 on the Billboard 200 in 2012. "A Murdered Love" tour has yet to take place, but, based on the recent release of "Murdered Love Deluxe," it could be a definite possibility in the near future.
POD AND FROM ASHES TO NEW WERE OUTSTANDING. VENUE WAS GREAT. DRINKS WERE PRICEY...BUT ACOUSTICS WERE GOOD.
It was August 1999- I was listening to the new releases of that week in quest of the next great band. I heard THE FUNDEMENTAL ELEMENTS OF SOUTHTOWN and new right away that P.O.D would be a player going forward. A couple of months later I noticed that they were playing at my favorite small club in NYC- the MERCURY LOUNGE. I've experienced hundreds of shows over the years but none better than the "sold out" power set unleashed by P.O.D that night. Their future stardom could be clearly felt in this tiny 250 capacity club. It was a privilege to see them in this intimate setting. We also met SONNY SANDOVAL and the band after the show- good guys!
The show was great from beginning to the end. Not a dull moment. The Main stage was awesome with a few surpises from the side stage.
Cory Taylor's special performance was fantastic!!!
what made this show so great was all of the energy that POD had during their performance.
POD always puts on a great show. Never disappointing!! It couldve been longer than an hour though :-/
It was great!!! Rocked the house, nothing changed!
I totally enjoyed this concert, Great, ready to see them again!!
The opening band, Manafest, was awesome. Never heard of them before, but really enjoyed their songs and ability to draw in the audience. Great stage presence. Downloaded some favorites immediately after the show. Stars in Stereo, the second band, was also very good. Their lead singer was a bad ass chick, and really got into her music. The songs were good and the band was entertaining, but it was much more difficult to understand her due to sound issues. Flyleaf, as expected, was sick. Did not even realize they had replaced Lacy, but Kristen was a good choice for her replacement. She is definitely a hard rocker, and came out into the crowd which was really cool. Loved the song selection, good mix of old and new songs. POD was the headliner, although much later than expected. They did put on a good show, a little more metal than I remember though. Again, it was difficult to hear due to sound issues, but we were right up front and it sounded like a lot of screaming more than anything else. Once we backed off, it was much easier to understand Sonny, who really did put on an in-your-face show. Again, good mix of old and new stuff. Guitar and drum solos were also great with POD.
Overall amazing show!! Never a dull moment! They killed it from the first song till the encore!! POD was rockin and the crowd was super amped!! Amazing amazing show!! Great job POD and HOB!!
They had a two page set list and were EPIC! They started strong and ended powerful!! Best show this year..
This was an awesome experience. This was a great show at a great venue !! This was high energy, enthusiasm & entertainment !!!! High energy mosh pit with respect for all. The new sing for Flyleaf was excellent, not Lacey, but good voice & energy. POD is one of the best fan friendly bands I have ever seen. Sonny always wants to make sure the crowd is having fun & connecting with the band !!!!
I arrived an hour and a half before the doors opened and had the chance to stand right in front of the stage. The opening acts (Manafest and Stars in Stereo) were pretty good but the main acts really rocked the venue. Flyleaf's new lead singer is a kind hearted person that has a phenomenal voice. She hugged my friend and I, which meant a lot to me! The band's new songs are amazing and I cannot wait for the album to be released. P.O.D rocked the house and made this event a party. Everyone was jumping and moving with the beats, whether they moshed or simply sang along and bobbed their heads. It was one of the best concerts I've ever attended and I wish that I could re live it!
The show was awesome. I couldn't tell the difference with Flyleaf new singer she was great
P.O.D. has been around for a while now and I caught them countless times 10+ years ago. Finally getting a chance to see them again, I was thrilled to see they have not lost a step of their energetic live show. So intense and crowd interactive. Definitely cant' miss.
This is a group of guys who bring 110% to any venue they play, whether its 100 people or 10000 people. Great energy, great sound, amazing live performance. Highly recommended. catch them when you can. I had the opportunity to meet the band because they are truly aware of the fans and how important they are. The guys came off the bus and signed autographs and talked to the crowd that was gathered outside the venue. I can say that these guys truly care about their fans and were genuinely interacting with the crowd. This wasn't a PR deal this was the real P.O.D. I feel truly blessed to have met the guys and I am glad that they are spreading good messages around the world.
Amazing show with P.O.D. Couldn't have been any better.
