About

Ozzy Osbourne in Concert

Ozzy Osbourne is one of the most well-known figures in the history of metal, but The Prince of Darkness did plenty more than bite the heads off of doves and bats and sing for Black Sabbath. Born in Birmingham, England, into a working-class family in 1948, Osbourne became interested in musical theater at an early age, performing in numerous school productions. Entranced by The Beatles, Osbourne decided he would go into music after finishing school, but was sidetracked by a series of odd jobs — construction labor, plumbing, and working as a car factory horn-tuner — as well as a brief stint in prison for burglarizing a clothing store. Eventually a free man, he was asked to join Rare Breed, a band started by bassist Geezer Butler. The band changed their name shortly after. Its new name was Black Sabbath.

Obsessed with the occult, Butler and Osbourne, alongside guitarist Tony Iommi and drummer Bill Ward, took rock music on a violent left turn, infusing it with doomy riffs, macabre lyrics, and wild freak-outs. Their 1970 self-titled debut — famously hated by ‘Rolling Stone' critic Lester Bangs — shook pop music with a force that still cannot truly be measured; follow-up ‘Paranoid,' with masterful metal tracks "War Pigs," "Iron Man," and of course, "Paranoid," cemented them as the most important metal band in the world. After releasing an incredible run of albums throughout the ‘70s with Sabbath, though, Osbourne left briefly to work on a solo project that would eventually become ‘Blizzard of Ozz'; when trying to rejoin Sabbath a few months later, Osbourne was met with waves of derision and violence from the other band members. Osbourne was asked to leave, and he immediately released ‘Blizzard of Ozz' to massive acclaim: Monumental single "Crazy Train" charted at No. 9 on the U.S. Mainstream Rock list, and the album went 4x Platinum. He continued the streak with a number of lauded solo albums through the ‘80s.

In the ‘90s, Ozzy would create Ozzfest, one of the decade's most vital metal festivals. Eventually he did rejoin Black Sabbath (in 2011), working on new album ‘13,' released in 2013. It slayed the charts, including the U.S. Billboard 200. The band played their final shows in 2016. Catch Ozzy's second farewell tour, No More Tours 2, which runs until mid-October in the U.S. before heading to Europe.

    Ozzy & Halford

by UltimateRockChick on 12/1/101st Mariner Arena - Baltimore

The concert was great. Halford came out in his old Priest garb and Ozzy....well what can you say...he's Ozzy. I paid for the VIP tickets which came with a pre-concert party. I was disappointed in that. For the money all us spent, there should have been more than just snacks and 1 drink ticket. I was there for the show and what a show it was!! ROCK ON \,,/

Ozzy and Halford ROCKED & were UNBELIEVABLE

by legallynikki on 12/1/101st Mariner Arena - Baltimore

I have seen both Judas Priest and Ozzy Osbourne on multiple occasions. On November 29, 2010, they were unbelievable! I am still amazed at the show. I will definitely go see both of them perform again anytime they are close to me! Anyone who can go see them live should experience this show. Ozzy was fantastic! Rob Halford was fantastic. The best way to describe the show is PHENOMENAL!!!! All the members of each of the bands rocked and got the crowd into the show! The solos were amazing! I loved the idea that Rob Halford performed both new material along with old school Judas Priest. Ozzy performed all old school metal including material performed with Black Sabbath! I believe that this was one of the best Ozzy shows I have been to in awhile!

After all these years, Ozzy still rocked!

by Hoodlum95 on 12/1/101st Mariner Arena - Baltimore

Long after Black Sabbath and Ozzy were really popular, I started listening to their music. So, I never saw either in their hayday, but I was truly impressed. Ozzy had an action packed show. He sang both BS and his songs. He has a lot of energy and enthusiasm on stage. He really looked like he was enjoying himself. And the crowd responded. I had a fanastic time and glad I was able to see him!

    Rob is the best!

by Tygrrrrl on 12/1/101st Mariner Arena - Baltimore

Went mainly to see Rob Halford! I love him with or without Priest! He is more animated on stage with Halford. He will always be, in my opinion, the best front man in heavy metal. Ozzy was surprisingly good! I think he did a better job solo on War Pigs than with Black Sabbath at OZZFest several years ago.

    Ozzy rocked Baltimore!!

by Lovelaughing on 12/1/101st Mariner Arena - Baltimore

From the moment Ozzy took the stage you could feel the electricity. He really knows how to fire up a crowd and get everyone caught up in the excitement. The sound was great, the light show and special effects were great, the whole band sounded awesome, and the entire experience was incredible. He performed a good mix of old, new, and "in-between" material. I highly recommend anyone who likes Ozzy's music - go and see him in concert if you get the opportunity. What a fantastic night!!

    Ozzy is still at it!!

by VernS on 12/1/101st Mariner Arena - Baltimore

I've seen tons of concerts so far. The last time I seen Ozzy perform was with Black Sabbath in the early 70's at the Baltimore civic center. The venue was then called the Baltimore Civic Center, not Mariner Arena. It was nice to hear some of the older tunes by Sabbath. He still has the drive, and fire! Ozzy, you didn't let me down!! Keep Rockin!!. PS--Tell Sharon I said "Hi"!!. Vern S.
