About

Ozzy Osbourne in Concert

Ozzy Osbourne is one of the most well-known figures in the history of metal, but The Prince of Darkness did plenty more than bite the heads off of doves and bats and sing for Black Sabbath. Born in Birmingham, England, into a working-class family in 1948, Osbourne became interested in musical theater at an early age, performing in numerous school productions. Entranced by The Beatles, Osbourne decided he would go into music after finishing school, but was sidetracked by a series of odd jobs — construction labor, plumbing, and working as a car factory horn-tuner — as well as a brief stint in prison for burglarizing a clothing store. Eventually a free man, he was asked to join Rare Breed, a band started by bassist Geezer Butler. The band changed their name shortly after. Its new name was Black Sabbath.

Obsessed with the occult, Butler and Osbourne, alongside guitarist Tony Iommi and drummer Bill Ward, took rock music on a violent left turn, infusing it with doomy riffs, macabre lyrics, and wild freak-outs. Their 1970 self-titled debut — famously hated by ‘Rolling Stone' critic Lester Bangs — shook pop music with a force that still cannot truly be measured; follow-up ‘Paranoid,' with masterful metal tracks "War Pigs," "Iron Man," and of course, "Paranoid," cemented them as the most important metal band in the world. After releasing an incredible run of albums throughout the ‘70s with Sabbath, though, Osbourne left briefly to work on a solo project that would eventually become ‘Blizzard of Ozz'; when trying to rejoin Sabbath a few months later, Osbourne was met with waves of derision and violence from the other band members. Osbourne was asked to leave, and he immediately released ‘Blizzard of Ozz' to massive acclaim: Monumental single "Crazy Train" charted at No. 9 on the U.S. Mainstream Rock list, and the album went 4x Platinum. He continued the streak with a number of lauded solo albums through the ‘80s.

In the ‘90s, Ozzy would create Ozzfest, one of the decade's most vital metal festivals. Eventually he did rejoin Black Sabbath (in 2011), working on new album ‘13,' released in 2013. It slayed the charts, including the U.S. Billboard 200. The band played their final shows in 2016. Catch Ozzy's second farewell tour, No More Tours 2, which runs until mid-October in the U.S. before heading to Europe.

    Ozzy/Stone Sour

by jbslicke on 10/2/18Dos Equis Pavilion - Dallas

Concert and Venue were awesome! Only complaints were that Stone Sour went on stage with a 30 min waiting line to get into parking & then inside the venue so I only was able to see 2 songs from them with no video of them or stage for us now stuck in the very back & they did not play long enough for me but sounded and looked great. Ozzy was on point as always and I was surprised though i don't know why at how very good he and the band were and the stage show as well. I almost blew the concert off & am so glad I didn't because it was awesome. Was very happy with the venue more so than ever before and i have seen hundreds of shows there over the years. It is my favorite place to see and hear live music.Had to leave a few songs early because of where i parked(not on venue grounds as there was no place to park)because of worry that might be towed or what not but overall still one of the best concerts i've seen & bands were GREAT!!!!!!

    Ozzy is always amazing!

I waited for this show for a long time and finally when it was here I couldn't be more excited... Ozzy rocked the place but unfortunately I became violently ill and missed most of the show stuck in the ER tent for most of the show. I missed a great opportunity but Ozzy will forever rock on!

    Ozzy still has it

by Guitarguy66 on 10/2/18The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion presented by Huntsman - Woodlands

Being an avid live music guy I go to lots of events. This being Ozzy’s final tour my expectations where extremely high and to my delight he performed greater that I could ever imagine. In summery I hate to see an artist like this go but at least he’s going out on a high note.

    Awesome Performance

by nickeyty on 10/2/18The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion presented by Huntsman - Woodlands

I had my doubts about this concert from the day I purchased the tickets. I was leary that Ozzy would not impress me. Boy was I wrong!!! It was everything I hoped to expect and then some out of Ozzy. This was one the top five concerts I have attended in my almost 49 years of life. I can't think of any complaint except the fact that I couldn't get a tee-shirt because I would have missed the entire concert waiting in line to buy one.

    Ozzy rocked it.

by Slimsonya on 10/1/18Ruoff Home Mortgage Music Center - Noblesville

I've seen Ozzy and Black Sabbath many many times. This last concert was absolutely amazing. He never disappoints. If you've not seen him you better ride the Crazy Train to his next concert before it's too late.

    Ozzy was awesome

by Naysananto on 10/1/18The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion presented by Huntsman - Woodlands

Ozzy did a great job. Waited a long time to see ozzy out of black sabbath and performing his own songs. Despite his age, it was a great show. Glad i went to see him, no regrets.

It'll be strange in a world without Ozzy Osbourne

by FWD2JAHTW on 10/1/18The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion presented by Huntsman - Woodlands

Stone Sour opening was great. I do wish the sound mix and/or volume was a bit better. They can really perform. Ozzy started a bit rough, but quickly improved. He seemed to really enjoy himself on stage. While my "greatest hits" would have included several more songs, it was hard to argue with the set list. The band played well, especially Mr. Zakk Wylde (as always). I'd certainly recommend seeing this legend on his last trek around the world if you can.

Stone Sour & Ozzy in one night!......Priceless!!

by mp125 on 10/1/18The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion presented by Huntsman - Woodlands

My wife & I went to this concert to mainly see Stone Sour because we are big fans, I was blown away by the way Ozzy performed that night. This was the first time we have ever seen Ozzy in concert & hope not the last. We had an awesome time, the only complaint i had was the Pavilion not letting the fans in early enough to buy t-shirts before the show. We waited over an hour to get in and barely got my shirts & beer just seconds within Stone Sour started. But overall an awesome night!!!

    Ozzy at the Woodlands!

by Jv1976 on 10/1/18The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion presented by Huntsman - Woodlands

Took my 11 year old to see ozzy. We both loved it. It was my 8th or 9th time seeing him since 96. Number 1 or 2 show ive seen from him. Seemed rejuvenated and having a good time. Setlist was awesome. Ozzy in top form.

    Surprisingly good

by blackcloud45 on 10/1/18The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion presented by Huntsman - Woodlands

Seen Ozzy several times and it seems like more recent shows are hit or miss with him often singing out of key. That was not the case at this show. The part of the show I got to see was awesome. The rest of the show I was in the RIDICULOUS t- shirt line.
