Cirque du Soleil: OVO on Tour
Talk about creating a buzz. Touring circus company Cirque du Soleil's OVO offers a nonstop, life-affirming, two-hour tribute to the infinitely diverse world of insects. This sensual, acrobatically dazzling show premiered in 2009 as the Montreal-based circus company's 25th production since 1984. The cast for its premiere included 54 performing artists from 16 different countries. Created and directed by Deborah Colker, OVO (Portuguese for "egg") contemplates insects in all their beauty, action and curiosity. Brazilian composer Berna Ceppas transforms their flight, leaps, creeping and crawling into a samba-influenced choreographic spectacle augmented by the constant flutter and hum of real insect sounds.
With well over a thousand performances to date, OVO long ago took flight as one of the Cirque's most popular and rewarding extravaganzas. As Albany, New York's Times Union said of OVO in 2020, "In our digital age, it's reassuring to remember that non-simulated, filter-free entertainment still has the power to dazzle and transport us."
What is Cirque du Soleil: OVO?
Upon its Montreal debut in 2009, OVO became Cirque du Soleil's most audacious and virtuosic new-circus show to date. A trio of principal characters β Master Flipo, Foreigner and Ladybug β keeps this arena spectacular in constant motion, as awestruck insects become intensely interested in a mysterious egg's sudden appearance. OVO teems with life, and Cirque du Soleil's talented cast mirrors the insect world's natural abilities to fly, balance and leap with a lifetime of practice and precision.
During one of the company's largest flying acts, 10 scarab beetles on three platforms toss a single beetle back and forth. A colorfully costumed dragonfly flits about, red ants juggle chunks of kiwi and corncobs with their feet, and butterflies cling gracefully to one another as they float through the air. For OVO's grand finale, the large span used for brilliant lighting effects transforms into a two-story climbing wall onto which trampoline-powered crickets are hurled as though onto a vertical stage. Cockroaches, grasshoppers and other insects serve as supporting characters throughout the evening's dozen acrobatic tours de force.
I brought my wife for Valentine's and it did not disappoint, There was always something going on and never a dull moment. I would recommend this for Family, Date night, and in general just a good time out..
This was my eighth Cirque du Soleil and they are all so unique. I canβt with till the next one.
In the heart of the freezing winter temperatures it was very nice to relax and watch this entertaining show featuring bright colors, vivid greens and yellows, and take in a truly delightful show. The cast is always incredible talented and the variety of performances is such a distraction from everything else going on. It's unlike anything else on offer. I love escaping into this world for a few hours!
I was desapointed, not something in particular. For me there was no WOW.
The lighting was poor and aerial maneuvers were minimal. Definitely not one of the best I have seen. Usually I am amazed by he performance. Iβll see what the next performances do.
Went to watch for the first time the Cirque du Soleil and it was amazing from the beginning to the end! Without a doubt, one of the best experiences I have ever had so far and cannot wait to attend another one of their shows in the future.
The show was awesome! We had seats in the high 200s and it was dimly lit so it made it scary going up. We waited until the lights came on to venture down.
The event staff was great, very helpful and available. Parking was better than average, probably because we saw a Sunday afternoon show. Ovo was a good show overall, there were a few turkeys in there but for the most part met our Cirque expectations. Seats were reasonably comfortable, of course they are always a little cramped. My biggest pet peeve, a small chicken sandwich and a bottle of water was $18, that's a bit much.
This is the 3rd Cirq Du Soleil show I have attended. The acrobatics were amazing as always and thoroughly enjoyable. There were some slow parts in the story telling, but that aside, this was a great experience for my young grandchildren.

Just saw the show in Disney. This one is very colorful and lasted longer so there was more to see. We loved it

This event never fails to amaze me, it is such an incredible experience to see all of these truly talented people performing. I canβt wait until the next time they come back
I'm only giving a 2 star because of the seating. The show itself was absolutely amazing. We had floor seats 3rd row center. Amazing right. And it was. Except we were all so mashed together that we had to sit at an angle so we weren't on top of the person next to you. Everyone was complaining about "a tight fit". It was very very uncomfortable. It they just gave an inch it would of been so much better. Fantastic performance.
It was a good show but it was unclear to me at times as to what was going on. The performers were talented. Iβm not sure if I would go again.
A great location to go to an event. Easy Parking and great local food close.

Cirque du Soleil is always so entertaining and OVO did not dissapoint. Exciting, funny, romantic; OVO had it all. Wonderful show, intimate venue, e-z parking and plenty of places to eat prior.
The performance was out of this world. Very skilled people, exciting, great music. Fun and an awesome experience overall.
