    Outback Bowl 2011

by Capernwray on 1/3/11Raymond James Stadium - Tampa

This event was totally awesome. I particularly like the fly through and the paratroopers jumping into the stadium--the Stratotanker was amazing, looking out at almost eye level. It always brings tears to my eyes when I see them, knowing what they stand for in support of our American way of life. The pre-game and half time were both great, with tremendous marching bands, and choreography of the other groups. The game was really good too, with the outcome still in doubt with 1:11 left in the 4th quarter. It was particularly interesting to me since I grew up in Pennsylvania as a Penn State fan, and now a Gator fan since the mid 90's during the Wuerffel era. I had gone to a previous Outback Bowl a few years ago--Penn State vs Tennessee, and that was an amazing experience as well.

Event was very good except for the game outcome. Can't have 5 interceptions and expect to win a ballgame even though PSU almost pulled it out for the 9th Florida home game of the season. Surprised the game was not sold out but I guess the price of the tickets kept a number of FL and PSU fans at home. Traffic after this game was much worse than it was for a sold-out Steelers-Bucaneers game a few months ago - go figure. Otherwise our group of 8 had fun.

    Penn State/FL Gators

by DCBerndt on 1/3/11Raymond James Stadium - Tampa

Both teams left a lot to be desired. It was anybody's game. Could have gone either way. Their play didn't match up to the Raymond James Stadium personna. Stadium is very nice.

The Outback bowl is a must-see!!!

by mpresswoo on 1/3/11Raymond James Stadium - Tampa

Getting to the stadium was easy and signs made it easy to navigate. The closer it got to game time the heavier the traffic got and it required some patience. If you're tailgating, which we did, getting there early definitely pays off and we got a spot in a parking lot directly across the street from the stadium. It was 5 min walking distance tops!! Be prepared to pay $20-$25 for those premium spots, though. Once inside, there are plenty of signs posted for the seat numbers and sections to make finding your seat a breeze. There are plenty of restrooms so waiting wasn't an issue and I'm a female so a definite plus!! There are Tampa police posted everywhere so I never saw any unruly fans or fights. The only problem I had was I had no idea what items were prohibited in the stadium and my seat cushion was one of them. I opted to throw it away even though my car was only 5 min away because my whole family and friends were already in the stadim and I didn't want to hold them up. That seat cushion cost me $25 and it was a nice one too!!! Even though my seats weren't bad seats, we opted to watch the whole game from the party deck which was nice. After the game, the crowd emptied out without any problems and there are plenty of exits so there's no hurry up and wait.

Beautiful stadium and beautiful weather....perfect for college football. Seats were a little further away from the action than we would have liked, but we did have a great view of the entire field! Being that high up, we were closer to the fly-over during the National Anthem than most:) Got some great photographs of the legendary Joe Paterno, and also Urban Meyer coaching his last game. Wonderful day out!

    Poor View

by Timsagator on 1/3/11Ben Hill Griffin Stadium - Gainesville

The game was great, and the stadium was great. We were even excited to be sitting with the Florida Gator band. Unfortunately, we were two rows behind the sousaphones (tubas), meaning that anytime the band played, we were unable to see ANYTHING in front of us, including the field. The entire section consisted of the band, except for the final 4 rows, which were student tickets. I am not sure why the University decided to put fans in this section. Fortunately, because it was not sold out, everyone in those 4 rows were able to move to the section directly to the left. However, if the game had been sold out, we would have been out of luck.

    Tips for 26th

by fanfun1 on 1/3/11Raymond James Stadium - Tampa

Stadium seats, vendors, bathrooms, parking were all great. Pre-game music between gates C & D was good to keep the crowd occupied waiting for the gates to open. Pre-game honors to armed service members was great too. Halftime show was great to see the High Schoolers out there on the field getting a wonderful experience. They were also in Ybor City Parade and it was fun to see the variety of bands and home town origins. Stadium music clipping slightly and played too often. Especially annoying to have music drown out cheering during kickoffs. Would like to see the opposing team's bands in the endzones. This way all fans both teams will see their cheerleaders and be able to hear their bands better. (If the PA music doesn't drown them out.)

Great Game - Stadium ran out of water!

by BridgetUFAlum on 1/3/11Raymond James Stadium - Tampa

Beautiful Day, excellent game results, parking was easy, however - the stadium vendors ran out of WATER, chili for nachos and footlong hotdogs BEFORE halftime - had to leave early as I have children who do not drink sodas and that was all that was available. They also ran out of the commemorative cups with the bottomless refills before halftime!!
