Orlando Magic History
Joining the NBA in the 1989 expansion era, the Magic struggled for three years until picking center Shaquille O'Neal first in the 1992 draft. The Magic finished at .500 in the 1992–93 season, barely missing the playoffs. Then, with only a slim chance in the 1993 draft lottery, the team won the rights to pick No. 1 again. They used their selection, Chris Webber, in a trade to obtain guard Anfernee "Penny" Hardaway and future picks.
O’Neal and Hardaway led the Magic to 50 wins in the 1993–94 season and then 57 victories, as well as a trip to the NBA Finals, the following year. In the 1995–96 campaign, the Magic won a franchise-record 60 games in what would be O'Neal's last season in Orlando. They made it to the Eastern Conference finals against the Chicago Bulls.
Over the next 10 years, the Magic made the playoffs five times under the leadership of coach Doc Rivers and Hall of Fame guard Tracy McGrady, who earned two scoring titles and the 2001 Most Improved Player award during his tenure. The 2006–07 season saw Orlando start a run of six consecutive postseason appearances, as star center Dwight Howard blossomed and the Magic surrounded him with young talent and savvy veterans.
The Magic reached the second round of the playoffs in 2008 behind Howard and forwards Hidayet "Hedo" Türkoğlu and Rashard Lewis. The following season, with trade acquisition Rafer Alston filling in for injured point guard Jameer Nelson and sharpshooter J.J. Redick taking on a more prominent role, the team won 59 games and defeated the Philadelphia 76ers, the Boston Celtics and the LeBron James-led Cleveland Cavaliers in the playoffs. It earned the Magic a second trip to the NBA Finals, where they lost to the Los Angeles Lakers.
Following Howard’s trade to the Lakers in 2012, the Magic began a decade-long rebuilding process while developing notable talents like Victor Oladipo, Aaron Gordon and Nikola Vučević. The Magic’s luck seemed to improve after reaching playoff contention once again in 2019 and 2020, and landing top draft picks such as Mo Bamba, Jalen Suggs, Franz Wagner, and 2023 Rookie of the Year Paolo Banchero.

I lost 20 min of the game because the line to enter it was huge and I can`t enter with my little bag,
Arena was very clean! Staff very friendly and welcoming. Seating is a little snug
The game, the indicators, the intervals shows. It was all great. My two complains are... the line to walk between the chairs it's too small. And the bags not allowed are not clear in Game Day email. It's a trouble for tourists
my son plays basketball in my country (Colombia) for him and for me it was a great experience to see his joy and how excited he was to witness an NBA game, everything was perfect, the organization and the show, I would return a thousand times!
I had a nice time at the am way center every time i go there the staff is very nice and helpful
We had a great night. The parking was easy, security check was fast, the employees in the stadium were nice. The only thing that bothered us: we sat next to the stairs and a lot of people kept walking there during the game, or stood there taking pictures of themselves. We picked the seats ourselves, so next time we should pick seats more in the middle of the row or in the front.
The whole stadium experience is quite challenging. Coming from Australia where we attend lots of big stadium events the US stadiums feel much more chaotic and a lot less safe. I understand why they do it but not allowing any bags, even small hand bags after they send emails saying you can bring them in and then forcing you to buy a locker was really annoying. Having to go through metal detectors etc also makes you feel a lot less safe even though they are doing it for safety. It also cost about $45 US for 2 drinks and a water which works out at about $70 Australia dollars. the most overpriced drinks I have ever bought and I've bought lots of overpriced drinks in my time. The game was also very ordinary.
Loved the game. The entertainment between the game was excellent. The only issue I had was our seats were too high up for me which was the disabled section. It was a great exciting game
Only the problem was entrance from geico garage. Waited so long
Ticketmaster website or app don’t work in Brazil, so I’ve added tickets to my apple wallet few moments before the game.
On holiday in Orlando with wife and 2 daughters, the obvious attraction being the whole Disney thing which is amazing, but have to say an NBA game (our 1st) was absolutely incredible! Didn’t realise how much of a family orientated event this is! Well worth a visit and be on our 1st things to do list when revisiting the USA👏👏👏
Great evening’s entertainment,we had never been to aNBA game before but what fun .never dull moment fun fun fun.
This was experience was amazing and breathtaking! I will definitely be back!
But a bad team. I never saw a good team playing, just watch because it’s a good option to enjoy when I am in Orlando area. Amway arena also is a very nice place to be.
It’s more than a game, it’s a great show! Amazing!
Amazing experience, great show and great organization for wheelchairs. Maybe you should precise when purchasing ticket that people in wheelchair can be accompanied by family. I was separated because I didn't know that they could be seated next to me.
A ticket for Parking is the best option!!! Was very easy!! All the process with Ticketmaster was easy and comfortable!!!
My son and I went to the game while visiting Florida. Geico Centre facility and staff were great and the entire process was seamless with the ticketmaster app. The added advantage of sorting parking out before we went was great as well. Happy 2023
I had a great time and i will definitely watch another games.
Excellent staff, excellent arena, David Schultz? Very friendly and great member of staff, thanks again.
