Oregon Ducks Women's Basketball History

The University of Oregon Ducks women’s basketball program dates back to the late 19th century, but the varsity team formed ahead of the 1973–74 season. The Ducks qualified for the inaugural NCAA Women’s March Madness tournament in 1982 and have made 17 appearances in total, including a streak of eight consecutive berths between 1994 and 2001. Kelly Graves became head coach in 2014 and led the team on a run of sustained dominance with a core lineup that featured future WNBA players Sabrina Ionescu, Satou Sabally, Ruthy Hebard and Nyara Sabally. Under Graves, the Ducks advanced to the Elite Eight in 2017 and 2018 and the Final Four in 2019, while also securing three regular season conference championships and two conference tournament titles. In 2024, Oregon will move to the Big Ten Conference.

Oregon Ducks at Matthew Knight Arena

The Oregon Ducks women’s basketball team plays at Matthew Knight Arena, the $227 million facility in Eugene, Oregon that opened in 2011. The modern architectural marvel’s placement at the entrance of the university welcomes fans and opponents alike, but inside Matthew Knight Arena waits the boisterous “Pit Crew” student section. Matthew Knight Arena has a current capacity of 12,364 seats. The venue’s name honors Nike co-founder and Oregon alum Phil Knight’s late son, Matthew.

    Left Disappointed

by Peggy on 1/13/19Matthew Knight Arena - Eugene

Having looked forward for several seasons to attend a Lady Ducks game we left let down. We were told there is not a bad seat in the house. I disagree ours was poor. The people seated in the row in front of us blocked our view. The score board was also mostly blocked out because of overhead structure.

    Noise level

by Duckslayer2 on 1/24/18Matthew Knight Arena - Eugene

The loud noise piped in was way off the charts. The band played great but they hardly played, instead music was piped in you could not talk to someone next to you. Flashing lights, not going back.

    Lady Ducks deserve their ranking

by rockshow1 on 12/12/17Matthew Knight Arena - Eugene

As good as they were last year, they've added to it with Annalee as an all-around agressive player/shooter and Lexi is now hitting her long shots. Plus their defense is no longer suspect !
