About

The pink cupcake craze that is sweeping the nation makes its Portland premiere! Based on the popular book, Pinkalicious: The Musical finds its title character craving anything and everything pink—especially cupcakes!
When Pinkalicious eats one too many she turns pink. So pink that even a bath won't wash away the color—which isn't so bad as far as she is concerned. The remedy is a strict diet of green foods, but Pinkalicious can't stop thinking about those cupcakes! With Broadway-style show tunes, dancing cupcakes, and a sparkling story, Pinkalicious: The Musical is a treat worth indulging in.

    The Stinky Cheese Man

by HappyinHillsboro on 3/13/13Winningstad Theatre - Portland

I took my 6 year old granddaughter and we had a great time. She is a busy, active child and I expected her to lose interest at some point. She was delighted by the whole thing. She told everyone she saw that she had the book at home. I think that was her way of taking the fun home with her. It was delightful.

Funny, but a bit negative and scary for 4 year old

    by Howard27 on 3/11/13Winningstad Theatre - Portland

We were near the front. A few times in the first few minutes people entered from off stage to "surprise" the narrator. They shouted very loudly (as actors need to do to reach the audience in the back) and scared my 4 year old so badly that we had to leave the theater and didn't come back. (There were a number of other young kids in the lobby who experienced the same fate) We had grandparents with us who offered to stay in the lobby while we watched the rest of the show. Curious and sometimes creative alterations to standard fairy tales, but a lot of the humor was a bit negative and mean spirited. For kids who don't yet make a distinction between appropriate behavior in the "real" world vs the "theater" world, I think this would require a lot of explaining. (Why was so and so shouting so much at ...? Why did so and so play a mean trick on ...? etc) We've been to a number of performance over the past year. Each has been magical in its own way (ZooZoo and Return of Cats, a few of the Tears of Joy puppet theater, Curious Garden Theater). We had high hopes for Stinky Cheese Man, but even if our 4 year old hadn't been so scared that he had to leave 5 minutes into the show, I think we would have been disappointed. In my opinion, the show lacked the imagination and the sensitive to be successful for an audience under 5 or 6.

Lion, witch and wardrobe was a disappointment

by Narniamom on 2/19/13Newmark Theatre - Portland

Enjoyed the performance by the four children: Peter, Susan, Edmond and Lucy and the witch. Didn't care for the costumes. The interpretation of the story was weak and the event was over priced.

The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe was awesome.

by TamBt on 2/5/13Newmark Theatre - Portland

My daughter truly loved this show. I believe that the OCT did a fantastic job condensing the story into a believable play with just the right amount of magic and imagination. The actors were really great.

    Amazing Adventure!!

by DragonGrandma on 2/5/13Newmark Theatre - Portland

I purchased these tickets for my 5 1/2 yr old granddaughter's Christmas present. This was her first play, and we had tickets front and center. She was mesmerized throughout the entire show, and when it was over, I asked her what she thought... "OH, I LOVED IT!" Afterward, it was nice and very organized, the way they set up an area for the children to meet the performers and sign their programs. In addition, all the staff were very helpful, and thanked us for coming to the show. The costumes were great, lighting and scenes were fantastic, and the performers did an amazing job! I will certainly be taking her to more plays here in the future!

Fantastic show, but not for little ones

    by 2PlusTwins on 1/28/13Newmark Theatre - Portland

Knowing the storyline and some of the dark things that happen, I opted to leave my 3 year olds at home and was glad that I did. My 7 and 9 year old loved the play. We had front row seats and they felt very much a part of it all. I did notice some screams or crying from little ones who had come (as there were some scary parts). I would recommend this for kids aged 5 and up. My 7 year old even covered his ears and eyes when the witch was slaying aslan. I would definitely go again. It was a lot of fun.

Well acted by all characters. Moved right along. Held everyone's interest both the children and the adults. A winner to share with your kids and grandkids.

    Great play for kids!

by Terebichan on 1/22/13Newmark Theatre - Portland

Acting was well-done, and the scenery was beautiful. The story felt a little trimmed, but since it was targeted towards children, it's understandable. Fun play to see for any C.S. Lewis fans :)

The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe

    by AllieH2O on 1/22/13Newmark Theatre - Portland

The play was very well done and enjoyable. I was impressed with the abilities of the actors, even though they were so young. I would certainly attend another event held by the Oregon Children's Theater.

The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe

by Anonymous on 1/21/13Newmark Theatre - Portland

The adaptation was perfect for small children. The violence was cut back, and the length of time...an hour...was also appropriate. This was my two grand children's first experience with live children's theater. The loved meeting the actors afterward and can't wait for their next play. I also appreciated the price reduction for their seats over adult prices.

    Lion, Witch & Wardrobe

by GaryMoore on 1/21/13Newmark Theatre - Portland

Decent production that most children will enjoy. Quality of actors varied quite a bit, from enthusiastic apprentices to solid veterans, which I suppose is to be expected from an OCT production. Props were good. Costumes for certain characters seemed a bit odd (e.g. Fawn was a bare-chested young man. . .???) Overall, good weekend entertainment for 6-10 year olds.

    Pinkalicious is good for kids

    by IHeartMusicals1982 on 12/15/12Newmark Theatre - Portland

I thought that the price for an hour long production was a little high but my niece loved it and so it was worth it. She was in awe that she got the casts; autographs and she loved it. A couple of hiccups were that we were not made aware that we could purchase a gift bag with a poster, wand and tiara and they only sold them before the show so my niece didn't get one because we didn't know. Also, they hand out coupons for a free cupcake but it is not the cupcake stand in the lobby. You will get to the front of the line and they will ask you for three dollars. It wasn't a problem for us but just a heads up.

Pinkalicous was very colorful and funny

    by annieg123 on 12/12/12Newmark Theatre - Portland

My grandaughter and I had a very good time we both laughed. We thought the actors we're very good and you could hear them well. The only reason I did not give 5 stars is at the end of the play they handed out coupons for free cupcakes to the children, Then having the refreshment stand seem to be handing out cupcakes only to be charging 3$ per cupcake. You hate to disappoint the child after such a fun time you get sucked in to the scheme.
