I was especially impressed by charlotte's acrobatics.
What a wonderful show! We were hooked the whole time by the funny sheep, crazy geese, lovable pig and amazing spider. The use of aerial silks by Charlotte was the best idea ever!
We enjoyed the play; however it was not very good seating place though.
We love OCT plays & have been attending for years! Charlotte's Web was exceptional, we loved how Charlotte appeared to "weave" her web!! Another wonderful experience! Thank you OCT for helping me develop a love of theatre in my son :)
Went to watch a friend perform. Had no idea that I would love it zoo much! I read these books to my now teenage kids, when they were in grade school. Such fond memories came rushing back! Thank you!
The play was quite an accurate depiction of the original story and the talented teen age actors were very engaging. Our grandchildren thoroughly enjoyed it. The only negative comment would be that at times the live music overpowered some of the words the actors were saying.
I thoroughly enjoyed The Frog and the Toad production! It held the attention of a wide variety of ages. My 7-year old granddaughter was thrilled. She told me it was great.
We brought 4 adults and 3 children ages 7-12 . I was very impressed at the amazing local talent we have in portland. The show lasts for just over an hour and I was laughing and smiling the whole time. I will gladly purchase tickets again
My normally squirmy 3 year old was so enthralled that he easily sat through the entire show. Great music, fancy footwork and good adherence to the books; making it fun for kids to "guess" what was going to happen next.
Gathering Blue by the Oregon Children's Theatre was sensational! My family and I enjoyed the performance immensely. We were so sad when it ended. We all loved Lois Lowry's book and hoped this performance would match its intense drama and storytelling ability. We were not disappointed! The set and costumes were terrific. The acting was so skillfully done we felt like we were in the fen with the actors! I strongly recommend that you first read the book and then see the play. We can't wait for The Giver next year!
This is a perfect musical comedy for the young child (ages 4-10) and their respective parents and grandparents. The acting, singing and dancing were great; the pace was appropriate, except for the section on Christmas which was slow, uninteresting and lacked energy compared to the rest of the show. The sound system at times seemed to fade in and out, however overall it was a very good quality production with wonderful actors! It's a gift for Portlanders to have this organization in town.
Very cute story about friendship. Kind of cheezy dialogue and jokes but they still made me laugh. Actors did a wonderful job and the costumes were very creative. Fun for all ages!
It's hard to say who enjoyed the performance more---my 6 and 4 year-old grandsons or me! They haven't stopped talking about it. What a great show for both children and the adults who love them.
Everything about this production exceeded my expectations. I was especially impressed by the actors' diction, which made the dialogue, with its heavy reliance on dialect, very understandable.
We took our 4 yo son for his first play. He was entranced the entire time, loved the music and humor. All adults including grandparents loved it too. This play made us fans of OCT and are already making plans for next season.
This was a great show. The performers were outstanding. My ten-year-old was thrilled with how true to the book the show was.
The Stinky Cheese Man was UNFORGETTABLE!!! Loads of Laughter for children & adults!!! GREAT JOB CAST!!
Entertaining play for children and parents!! Followed the book so well which made it easier for my 5 year old to understand. Would go back again!!! All the actors were superb!!
My daughter and grandson saw the show this past Saturday. My daughter described the show as hilarious. My grandson believed that the show was not hilarious, but rather hysterical. They both loved it.
My granddaughter was troubled by the cast who continuously picked on the only child in the play. She saw them as "mean" to Jack, the narrator. The ugly duckling scene portrayed an ugly duckling becoming an ugly duck being bullied and teased by the other characters. Somewhat funny, but then again not. The original tale had a redeeming message. This had none and was a bit over the top. The humor was more for adults than children. The subtleties were lost on my granddaughter. I didn't find it all that funny either. She was bored and a little upset. I actually snoozed through a few minutes. Overall, disappointing.
