Opera Idaho Tickets

The singing was excellent, the orchestra was amazing, but the bottom line is that it was a missed opportunity. The storie line was lacking. For anyone that didn’t know Westside Story, it would have been confusing. There was no acting, dancing, or props to help carry the storyline and the music alone didn’t carry the storyline. It was impossible to know where the story was taking place. The way the story was presented it seemed like a group of boys called the Jets were against a group of girls. The “groups” never felt gang-like. The shooting of Tony at the end was unclear for anyone that didn’t already know that he dies. The orchestra played the largest role in the performance, with the singing becoming a sidebar.

Lenny Bernstein, Cecilia Violetta López and Robert Franz presented the music of West Side Story in an inspired manner that was appreciated by the audience in attendance and the deities that listened from heaven. The entire cast and orchestra presented a program that can be worthily called Divinely Inspired!

Everything about this event was excellent! Operatic voices added a richness and depth to this much loved and familiar music, the orchestra was amazing, and that conductor!!! Love at first sight!! So glad I saw this, Bravo Boise Opera Company!

The singers were located behind the orchestra on a platform... should have been in front of the orchestra instead. Singers were drowned out at times.

The singers, the orchestra, the conductor were all incredible. This was one of the best opera idaho performances I've seen. If you missed it, you missed a wonderful night of music.

There was no theatrical performance, without knowing the musical the music and singing made no sense.

Live symphony and beautiful.voices. The conductor, Robert Franz was phemomenal! He stole the show with his passion.
