My 16 year old grandson, loved it.

by Kari on 1/31/22Morrison Center for the Performing Arts - Boise

The opera was wonderful, we had perfect seats (row g27&28), upon arrival has access to the bronco cart escort to the entrance. The only problem was finding the exit that was close to the handicap parking, it was difficult for me to walk around the building to get to my car. It would have been nice if the ushers knew that information, they didn’t.

    Boise Opera's "The Merry Widow"

by Peter on 10/12/21Morrison Center for the Performing Arts - Boise

This was my first time attending an event at the Morrison Center. Parking was easy. The volunteers at the Morrison Center were friendly and helpful. My first time at the opera also. I really enjoyed the pre-show talk. I had great seats and the performance was wonderful; quite funny. I am already looking forward to attending more performances by the opera and other events at the Morrison Center.

    Great Performance

by av on 10/12/21Morrison Center for the Performing Arts - Boise

Loved the performance. Lovely music, beautiful sets, and wonderful cast. A joy from start to finish. The 2 leads were outstanding and the supporting cast very good. Too bad the Morrison center has outdated mask requirement. Spoke with many on Saturday after the Friday performance recommending the operetta. Everyone I spoke with said they wanted to go but would not because of mask policy! Friday was only 40% full. Had an usher that was obnoxious about the masks at first, but calmed down or was told to not antagonize the spectators. Also, ticketmaster won't work on all phones. For out of town attendees, would be nice to be able to print the tickets. I don't think there is a huge amount of ticket fraud for operas and operettas. Will call is not always an option for those who have to travel hours to the performance.

    Beautiful performance

by Idajimmi on 10/12/21Morrison Center for the Performing Arts - Boise

I saw the Merry Widow at age 16 in Germany, this performance took me back in time. It made me tear up because my mother instilled opera in me. Beautiful costumes and performance was great.

Merry Widow Flies to new heights

by Opera Dale on 10/12/21Morrison Center for the Performing Arts - Boise

This was an incredible production of the Merry Widow put on by Opera Idaho. Cecilia V. Lopez was at her finest and soared easily and with beauty with the music, and the rest of cast. What wonderful sets and choreography that made it sparkle with vibrancy! Vocally and visually a new high mark for Opera Idaho.

    Opera

by S.M. on 2/20/20Morrison Center for the Performing Arts - Boise

Beginning outside, the staff for searching purses were cheerful and cordial. At the door were helpful greeters to take my ticket. Ushers too were smiling and helpful in getting me to my seat. And..... the opera was delightful. The soloists had beautiful clear voices. I’m still hearing some of the melodies! Thank you to all.

This production of La Boheme was well done by a well balanced cast and orchestra with the scenery and costumes making the evening both vocally and visually a very enjoyable evening. Opera Idaho's productions keep getting better and better.

Thank you for a wonderful afternoon

by J. H. on 2/19/20Morrison Center for the Performing Arts - Boise

I love this Opera but was a little worried about taking my non-opera sister. We had a great time. The subtitles helped immensely. It was great being able to share the music and the story with her.

First time to experience Opera Idaho at the Morrison Center.

by Martha on 2/17/20Morrison Center for the Performing Arts - Boise

The pre-show explanation is one of the most helpful services the Morrison Center provides to audiences. The performance was superb and all the more meaningful for me as the nuances of staging, costumes, performers and historical settings were included in the pre-show.. The rolling overhead translation of the lyrics into English was helpful. Ultimately the passion and beauty of the opera, the voices, music and performers became the inspiration. No translation necessary. The Morrison Center staff is an asset to the arts in Boise.

    Fabulous, powerful talent

by Kay Dee Sid on 2/17/20Morrison Center for the Performing Arts - Boise

The leads were outstanding. They covered the stage with their movements, sound was focused and projected well, costumes and Set were appropriate for the 1840's and this Opera moved along and did not drag out. I would suggest in the full chorus scene that the singers not stand like statues, but add some movement enthusiasm for such a great production. Thanks for presenting another wonderful Opera Idaho production.

    Quality performance.

by AR on 2/17/20Morrison Center for the Performing Arts - Boise

This was the first time we experienced a show at the Morrison center, and we had an amazing experience. The sound was fantastic, the performance was exceptional, and the environment was perfect for a nice evening of dressing up and enjoying a romantic date. We will go to more shows here now that we know the quality the put into a show.

    Wonderful experience

by a. v. on 4/10/19Morrison Center for the Performing Arts - Boise

Overall, one of the best performances of the Mikado I've seen. All the actors were in good voice and the principles were exceptional. So many times, Pooh Bah is a caricature of a person but this actor played that fine line with aplomb. Choreography was lovely and the Ko-Ko was simply magnificent. Few criticisms: The sound manager seemed to "drop" the ball when Nanki-Poo was singing, especially with Yum Yum. They would be clear and bright and suddenly it seemed that someone had stuffed a towel in the mix. Also, the costumes of the the men's and women's chorus were strange and seemed to miss the opportunity to celebrate the silks and traditional colors of Japan. I thought the back with the broken bustle on the Ladies was clever, but would have been more effective if the front had something that represented the Japanese style. Please keep bringing us Gilbert & Sullivan

The Holy Trinity of Lenny Bernstein, Cecilia Violetta Lopez and Robert Franz along with the entire cast and orchestra let forth an inspired performance that was heard joyfully in Heaven. Bravo!
