OLD DOMINION IN CONCERT:

Nashville-based country rockers Old Dominion hit the ground running in 2015 with their acclaimed debut album Meat and Candy, and followed up with boot-stomping sets on tour that proved their performance chops match their songwriting skills. Feel-good chart-toppers like "Break Up with Him" and "Snapback" practically beg to be sung along to, and fans are more than happy to accompany frontman Matthew Ramsey as he casts his heartwarming croon over the crowd. The rest of the band is a well-oiled machine, kicking out livewire bass, guitar, and drums that strike the perfect balance between country twang and rock and roll heft. Old Dominion’s potent brand of country rock is the perfect pick-me-up for ticket buyers hankering for the hottest new Nashville sounds.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Old Dominion formed in Nashville, TN in 2007 but the band's roots trace back to Virginia, the home state of four of its five members. Taking their moniker from Virginia's nickname, Old Dominion started playing shows around Music City in the late '00s as a way to showcase music some of its members had written for popular country artists like The Band Perry and Chris Young. They soon discovered a unique musical chemistry and began penning songs as a group, and in 2014 they released their self-titled debut EP to a Top 10 spot on Billboard's Top Heatseekers chart. A year later they crowned the US Country Airplay chart with "Break Up With Him," the lead single from their debut full-length Meat and Candy. The album itself was a surprise crossover hit, peaking at No. 3 on the Top Country Albums chart and cracking the Top 20 on the mainstream Billboard 200. Since then the band has wowed on tour with powerhouse performances that have fans eagerly awaiting their sophomore album.

Music performance excellent - crowd behavior appalling

by JB on 1/30/24Choctaw Grand Theater - Durant

Sat center stage in 200 level. The minute OD went onstage the idiots in front of us stood up and never sat down for the next 2 hours. Why do people do that ? If that’s what you want, buy a ticket in the pit - costs less, you get to stand up and pretend your on stage and I get to watch the show instead of staring at your XL backside

    Awesome Concert

by Buckeye on 1/30/24Choctaw Grand Theater - Durant

I wish I could find a way to pay Old Dominion to do a cameo at my wedding later this year. It would score me more points than you can imagine with my wife. The concert was incredible. As far as the venue; very clean, super friendly customer service and security, sound, lighting, seats, everything was at the top of the scale. As for Old Dominion, they took, what I believe, the shortest break in concert history. Why? Because they had to stop playing by 10pm. It is the venue rules, not sure why, but it is. In any event, Old Dominion rocked it. It was incredible. At the end, they even brough a little girl on stage to help with a song, Amazing. Great Venue. Incredible Band. Oh, and the ticketing was easy, too.

Written in the stars, not the sand!

by Lainey Marie on 1/30/24Choctaw Grand Theater - Durant

Saturday, January 27th, at Choctaw Casino, music enthusiasts were treated to an electrifying performance by the country sensation Old Dominion. As the evening unfolded, it became evident that this wasn't just any concert; it was a remarkable journey through their chart-topping hits and hidden gems, making it an unforgettable experience for all in attendance. Old Dominion's interaction with the audience was a highlight of the event. Unlike many performers who stick to a predetermined setlist, they went above and beyond by taking requests from the crowd. This personal touch not only showcased their genuine connection with their fans but also added an element of spontaneity and excitement to the show. But what truly set Old Dominion apart was their unparalleled talent and versatility. Not only did they flawlessly deliver their well-known hits, but they also surprised the audience by delving into their repertoire of lesser-known tracks and even covering songs rarely heard live. Their ability to effortlessly switch between musical styles and eras further showcased their mastery of the craft, leaving the audience in awe of their sheer talent. Throughout the performance, Old Dominion kept the audience engaged and enthralled, feeding off the energy of the crowd and reciprocating it tenfold. Each song was delivered with passion and precision, sounding even more captivating live than on the radio. Whether it was the heartfelt lyrics of "Written in the Sand"or the infectious rhythms of "Hotel Key,"every moment was a testament to the band's undeniable talent and dedication to their craft. As the final notes faded into the night, it was clear that Old Dominion had left an indelible mark on everyone fortunate enough to witness their performance. Their ability to create an immersive and unforgettable experience speaks volumes about their status as one of country music's most dynamic acts. And as the audience dispersed, one thing was certain: this was a concert that would be remembered and cherished for years to come.

    Awesome Show!

by No BAD ViBeS on 1/29/24Choctaw Grand Theater - Durant

The Guys of Old Dominion played a great show with lots of energy. Brad and his guitar solos were freaking awesome. Matthew interacted with the audience and those that were front row. The coolest point was when the band took requests and 2 preteen girls asked for them just to sing them Happy Birthday and the whole place sang along. The footage from when Matthew took the ladies phone recorded himself and band mates singing and then recorded the audience before returning it will be priceless. Icing on the cake was the 12 year old boy that requested the Shoe Shopping song and they had him come up on stage to sing it with them. That kid never missed a beat. To me that shows character and shows that they value their fans and are humble.

    Good not Great

by G Dawg on 1/29/24Choctaw Grand Theater - Durant

We love OD and have seen them multiple times. The venue was great but I feel as if they rushed through the concert and it was 1.5hrs to the minute (without encore). They did play a bit longer without the traditional encore (walking off and coming back) b/c they kept saying they were on a time limit? Concert started at 8:17 and was over at 9:52 (including “encore”). They have done better and feel that they met the mimimim obligation in contract.
