Ohio State Buckeyes Men's Basketball History
Ohio State first fielded a basketball team in 1898 and played its games through 1919 at an on-campus building known as the Armory. In 1912, the Buckeyes joined the Big Nine conference. Four years later, the league was rechristened to its current name as the Big Ten.
Over the years, Ohio State has been guided to success by several notable coaches, including Fred Taylor, who helmed the team between 1959 and 1976, and Jim O'Brien, whose tenure stretched from the late ’90s to the early ’00s. Future Basketball Hall of Famers John Havlicek and Jerry Lucas as well as 2010 Naismith College Player of the Year Evan Turner have also passed through the program. The Buckeyes' main competitors tend to be their fellow Big Ten members, although their biggest rival is the Michigan Wolverines.
The Columbus-based Buckeyes have earned 31 appearances in the NCAA March Madness tournament, making 10 advancements to the Final Four and winning the national championship in 1960. Meanwhile, Ohio State has played in the National Invitation Tournament 10 times, taking home titles in 1986 and 2008 and advancing to the quarterfinals in 2024.

Ohio State Buckeyes at the Schottenstein Center
The Buckeyes play in Value City Arena at the Jerome Schottenstein Center (often shortened to the Schottenstein Center). Opened in 1998, Schottenstein Center is the largest arena in the Big Ten, seating 19,500 for basketball. Appropriately, the school boasts a vocal, robust student fanbase that cheers on the team in a section known as the Buckeye NutHouse.
Tickets for the 2025-26 regular season can be purchased on Ticketmaster, the Official Ticket Marketplace of the Ohio State Buckeyes.

Bought 4 tickets for what I thought was a great price. It ended up having a railing that obstructed the view of half the court and an usher that enjoyed standing at the rail during every break of the game obstructing the entire court. We would have been better spending less on nose bleed seats with a better view.
Was a great experience for the family.Would definitely recommend it to friends
Huge advocate for Ticketmaster being your source for all OSU men's basketball games. I've also had great luck with Bluejackets games as well. Will continue to use when booking sporting events!
This was wonderful the game was amazing the seats were great and it was easy to get the tickets and entry was easy
I enjoy watching the basketball bucks. I just wish they didn't make me scream sometimes.
I hadn't been to an Ohio State Men's BB game since the Schott first opened. OSU played Iowa and lost! :( However, this game was very entertaining and the Bucks doubled up on the Hawkeyes for most of the game until around the 5 minute mark. Then the Hawks staged somewhat of a comeback and got within about 5 points a few times. But in the end, they had too many turnovers which enabled the Buckeyes to build up a fairly comfortable lead to win it. I hope to attend another game soon and will Ticketmaster to purchase my ticket(s).
Easy to navigate buying tickets. Good seats. Everything went well except for screaming kids in my ear.
Live sports among fellow fans is always a great experience. My seat at club level was great.
The seats were great. We love going but just can’t afford it very often as tickets are just too expensive.
it was fun and good and it was a great experience.
Thats the first time Ive been in the Schott since the updates. The place is fantastic. They did such a nice job. The people were all so nice. Wish I could get to more bball games, mens and womens.
Extremely disappointing experience for my family, especially for my grandson's 5th birthday celebration.
Visiting from Bermuda the game was amazing. The atmosphere was electric and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The Ohio fans were phenomenal and we totally got caught up in their energy and excitement. My 20 year old son has not stopped talking about the experience and we are looking forward to our next game.
The experience was cool. The seats were uncomfortable, but next time we get floor seats
OSU beat Rutgers on a buzz beater with just 5 seconds left. They had to go all the way down the court and hit a perfect shot. Such an exciting game!
A buzzer beating victory makes for a great experience for everyone. At 68 years old my only complaint at both basketball and football games is the horrible rap music they blare at ear shattering levels while the players are warming up.
The staff was very helpful! Love going to games at the Schott...just wish the Buckeyes would have won!
Great tailgating. Everyone friendly, even the ichigan fans. Police presence reassuring. Entering and finding seats a breeze! Would have liked more options at Huntington level area for concessions. Music, announcers, performances between time outs were excellent. Fan engagement was the best. Leaving the arena, also easy and quick. LEAVING THE PARKING AREA WAS AN ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE! We sat in line to leave the Scarlet & Gray area for an actual 46 minutes without moving. No traffic directors in sight. FINALLY get out to 315 to see two patrolmen blocking the right turn. What a disaster! We will never again park in OSU parking.
Great experience! Scan ticket method was seem less and had great seats! Can’t wait until next season!
