  • Ohio Players "Did you see them??"

by Burger on 7/27/09Carter Barron Amphitheatre - WashingtonRating: 2 out of 5

The plug was pulled and none of the fans were able to see the Ohio Players. I feel as if I was robbed by the National Park Service. The tickets have the performance will be held "rain or shine". People willingly sat out in the rain because they wanted to see the SOS band and the Ohio Players. But the plug was still puIled. I want a refund!! The SOS Band was able to play a song and a half before the plug was pulled. They sounded and looked Great!!. I wanted to hear more. That was not to be.

  • SOS band not enough time...

    by DGC23 on 7/27/09Carter Barron Amphitheatre - WashingtonRating: 4 out of 5

The atmosphere was set for a very special evening, unfortuately the weather had different plans regarding the final outcome. The opening act performed to long based on the forcast or predicted rain incoming. Not sure if the other performers were there & ready to perform, but if they were than I wished they would at least attempted that strategy.

  • OHIO

    by Panthe46 on 7/27/09Carter Barron Amphitheatre - WashingtonRating: 4 out of 5

The Show was great despite the thundershowers! Ohio Players gave you every bit of the admission payed with the time allowed, SOS was not as fortunate! Mousey and the JB Experience were true Professional and honored the Immortal James Brown with class and dignity! Job well done!

  • ohio players unable to see their performance

    by olivia51 on 7/26/09Carter Barron Amphitheatre - WashingtonRating: 2 out of 5

i was not able to see the entire show due to the thunderstorm , the SOS band played a song in a half we left before the storm ended around 9:30 and did not get to see the ohio players.

  • Ohio Players still doing it!

by OldSchoolForever on 7/26/09Carter Barron Amphitheatre - WashingtonRating: 4 out of 5

We had a wonderful time even though the show was interrupted by an unexpected rain storm. The Ohio players are still doing their thing after 30 years! They were only able to do 3 songs because of the rain delay.

  • Rained Out

    by Niecy55 on 7/26/09Carter Barron Amphitheatre - WashingtonRating: 2 out of 5

There isn't too much to say the concert was rained out due to heavy rain and lightening. The SOS Band was into their 2nd song when the show shut down for the evening. Did not get to see the Ohio Players at all. I was really looking foward to see both groups they have always been my favorite groups of all time.

  • okay

    by Good1lover on 7/26/09Carter Barron Amphitheatre - WashingtonRating: 3 out of 5

I was really disappointed with the change of weather, from sun to rain all of a sudden. We were able to see The Ohio Players perform four of there songs, but they didn't sing my favorite one, Sweet Stinky Thing........ I had a good time after all.

it was rained out!!! the thunder and lightening was real bad, so they had to stop, otherwise it would have been a great night! Bummer!

just as the night started to get pumped, it was cancelled due to inclimate weather. i was and still am deeply disappointed; i would really like to have another opportunity to enjoy my favorite band of the 80's.

  • You can't stop the rain!

    by CestLaVie30 on 7/26/09Carter Barron Amphitheatre - WashingtonRating: 4 out of 5

Regrettably the Carter Barron is a rain/shine venue. The opening act started 30 minutes late whie we waited for the rain to stop. SOS Band barely finished their second song when the show was stopped because of lightening. I must admint that they did sound good. I never did hear the Ohio Players, however, a friend informed me that they did play. You can't stop the rain, however, the MC could have announced a status report of the show regarding the weather. I was not sure how long I should sit and wait to hear a status report so I made an executve decision and left. I can only rate this event as a 4 star because the MC left the audience hanging.

  • Ohio Players - SOS Band..."No Happening"

by dcdotcom on 7/26/09Carter Barron Amphitheatre - WashingtonRating: 1 out of 5

Straight to the point.....beautiful day in Washington, DC the evening...fell apart from the beginning. It rained and then a deluge of water descended from the skies. The audience was ready for an "ole skool" concert forget the rain. My party sat through the first down pour then the opening act appeared after the first rain shower.....Jame Brown revue a local DC band, they were good, but the promoters should have started the show with the SOS band....thery were able to give an introduction before severe thunderstorm moved through over the Carter Barron ampitheater. It was a rain or shine event, unfortunately for the sold out crowd it rained and rained and rained some more until the show was cancelled to the storm. It would have been nice to receive a rain check, but that was not to be. Never saw the Ohio Players, briefly heard the SOS band, The audience was ready to get down.....all the audience got was soggy shoes, and wet clothes. Maybe next time....... Everyone agreeded this would have been an amazing show.

  • NO Show

    by AJW1 on 7/26/09Carter Barron Amphitheatre - WashingtonRating: 2 out of 5

Rain disalowed us from enjoying SOS and no Ohio Players.

  • The Rain washed out the show

    by tinka69 on 7/26/09Carter Barron Amphitheatre - WashingtonRating: 3 out of 5

The show was delayed due to rain. The show was sold out. The SOS Band came out and performed three songs before the show was stopped because of the rain and especially the lightning. But the SOS Band was sounding good, so I know it would have been a great show. There was a great crowd and no incidents.

  • James Brown Review

by lthomas on 7/26/09Carter Barron Amphitheatre - WashingtonRating: 2 out of 5

Weather kept show from happening. James Brown Review was good. SOS Band performed one and a half of a song. Didn't wait for Ohio Players. It was 9:10 and they were unable to perform due to weather conditions.

  • Great Start

by DarlaMac on 7/26/09Carter Barron Amphitheatre - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

Even though the rain came and delayed Mousey and the James Brown Experience quickly made us forget the rain and remember James Brown.Great,Great Great!!! Canceling the show due to lightning was the right move. Hopefuly they'll try to reschedule SOS and Ohio Players.

The Bands were good ...Mother Nature ruined what was to be a good show :-(

  • BRING THE SOS Band back!!!

by Icantstandtherain on 7/26/09Carter Barron Amphitheatre - WashingtonRating: 2 out of 5

Rain Rain go away...and after waiting through numerous rain delays, the OP talked too much and didn't sing Sweet Sticky Thing or Who'd She Coo. I really wanted to see SOS and they got rained out after 2 songs. Please somebody bring them bk to DC soon or next summer.

  • Ohio Players and SOS Band

by jhammaster on 7/26/09Carter Barron Amphitheatre - WashingtonRating: 4 out of 5

The show was stopped 2 1/2 songs into the SOS Band set due to lightning. The taste of the SOS Band we did here was OFF DA CHAIN!!! Even after they shut down the electric instruments, the lead singer and the drummer kept pace to end a song (they should add that version on a live album). The opening act whose name I can't remember, was a band that called itself the James Brown Review. They were on it from the down beat to the funky trombone play. If anyone can remember the name of the band...they are worth seeing. They were waiting for the storm to pass after one hour and at 9:45pm I and know music from the Ohio Players, I called it a night.

  • Disappointed concert was cancelled

by Rosalind on 7/26/09Carter Barron Amphitheatre - WashingtonRating: 1 out of 5

How can you review a concert that didn't happen. The show did not start on time, and when it did they let a group come on that wasn't even advertised to play. We got to see the James Brown band play their entire set. The park service stopped the concert because of lightening. If they had let the SOS Band come on instead, we might have gotten a chance to see the Ohio Players. SOS was cut off during the 2nd song. This was the first time I experienced a rained out concert which I didn't mind but the decision to let a band play that wasn't on the bill was a poor decision on the concert promoter's decision.

  • Ohio Players/SOS Band

    by BigSmooth858 on 7/26/09Carter Barron Amphitheatre - WashingtonRating: 1 out of 5

The concert was forgetable. The SOS Band played a partial set that was shortened by rain. The Ohio Players were decent, but played a shortened set as well. It rained all night, and i felt cheated at the end of the concert.
