  • Those Summer Days…

by SmithGirl on 1/21/25Star Of The Desert Arena at Primm Valley Resorts - PrimmRating: 4 out of 5

This concert took me back to Those Summer Days… The Family Stone was fantastic. Their set ended too soon. The Ohio Players were just okay. The lead singer was a little off and that ruined some of the songs for me but still enjoyable.

  • Good Music

Concert too short . Need to add a younger singer. Voices are aging.....

  • They still have it!

by Local Player on 11/24/24Birchmere - AlexandriaRating: 4 out of 5

The Players touched on all their hits, but their time on stage was less than 2 hours. They still sound great; the old and new members actively engaged the audience. They got us up and dancing and reminiscing about the 70's.

by frances on 8/8/24Ohio Expo Center & State Fair - ColumbusRating: 1 out of 5

I realize they are old but when it's time to say goodnight put your pajamas on and go to bed my expectations were not met they played more music and talking than singing

  • Not what I expected...

by Dee on 8/8/24Ohio Expo Center & State Fair - ColumbusRating: 2 out of 5

The Ohio Players have lost their "funk"value. The music came across as mostly unscripted - too many individual mediocre solos by the artists and not enough of their power house hits. The music coming from the stage sounded muted - in contrast to Midnight Star who put on a fantastic electrified show. The Ohio Players need to tighten up their overall stage presentation and add some real energy behind the "funk"tunes that made them famous. I have NO PLANS to see them in the future.

by TOYA on 8/5/24Ohio Expo Center & State Fair - ColumbusRating: 1 out of 5

I am very disappointed with the Ohio players. They only song a couple songs did way to much talking. Midnight Star was amazing. I would go see them anytime.

  • Midnight Star and Ohio Players

by dj michael j on 8/5/24Ohio Expo Center & State Fair - ColumbusRating: 3 out of 5

The show started on time Midnight Star was the first act got the fans up and moving. The speaker system was a little fuzzy. The Ohio players band sound was great. The lead singers needed some assistance. The Ohio players was only on stage about an hour with a list of many hits. Some of the songs were played too long which left other hits not being played.

  • Lackluster

by Oh10born on 8/5/24Ohio Expo Center & State Fair - ColumbusRating: 3 out of 5

The Ohio Players were lackluster in comparison to the opening act of MidNight Star. Don't get it twisted, the Ohio Players performed all the songs you'd expect and many of them were huge hits BUT, there was a definite absence of energy and liveliness in the performance. The crowd at the Ohio State Fair seemed to be primed and ready for energy and enthusiasm yet received the equivalent of laid back house music, that sent many to the exits. The only original member performing was the drummer (James "Diamond"Williams) and his skills are STILL great (he's an awesome drummer and you can hear that), he actually sang many of the songs, problem is he needs to be outfront! With the loss of Sugarfoot the Ohio Players need a lead singer and a whole rearrangement of the act, including their intro! I love the Ohio Players, the 1st time I saw them was 1968, they were ELECTRIC and mesmerizing. I was so excited I inched my way all the way to the front of the crowd and concert attendees' placed me on their shoulders, I was 8 years old. A local band opened the show, followed by Sly and the Family Stone, once the Ohio Players hit the stage it was obvious why the other bands were the opening acts. Although I wanted the old Ohio Players in this current concert, I knew too many things had changed and time is unforgiving. Nevertheless, my hats off to a R&B group that has provided so much funk and great music to society.
