by Cpoohgl on 4/1/14North Charleston Performing Arts Center - North CharlestonRating: 5 out of 5

My wife and 2 of our friends from out of town got tickets and we weren't sure about the purchase but we were pleasantly surprised and dazzled by the show and performance. We cannot wait until the next time they perform.

  • Philly Soul was fabulous!!

What a fun evening of great solo singing with great backup singers and great orchestral music. The songs picked were big favorites and the audience clearly loved it all. I would recommend this to anyone who is a fan of 60's and 70's soul music!! Thanks for a beautiful night!

  • Great night for memories!

I thought the show was a very good one. The Pops were dead on with the music and the guest singers as well as the backup singers with the vocals.

  • Overall another fun concert

by Syncretist on 2/20/14North Charleston Performing Arts Center - North CharlestonRating: 3 out of 5

The Rewinders and RetroSingers did a great job bringing back old favorites (as they always do)! However, this concert, like the Holiday concert at the end of 2013, featured a noticeably disproportionate number of songs by The Carpenters. Granted: one talented singer undeniably sounds exactly like Karen Carpenter, but this was certainly a case of hearing too much of a good thing! More variation would be appreciated in the future.

  • Endless Love

by MPgirl on 2/19/14North Charleston Performing Arts Center - North CharlestonRating: 4 out of 5

The orchestra and performers were wonderful. I was disappointed, however, with some of the song selections - none were truly romantic. I especially was not pleased with five Karen Carpenter songs. One of those is more than enough!

  • unexpectably good entertainment!

The orchestra was excellent! Conductor was warm and yet professional. Everyone except vocalists should have been in similar garb.( Some were in Tux, some in coat& tie and some with open collar shirt. Ladies went from Prom Dress to black suits). I know this did not make a difference in their tone or technique, but their professional look would raise expectations and enjoyment. The visting vocalists and the outside band were wonderful! Selection of songs seemed to come from all my favorites. We will certainly come again!!

  • Endless Love displayed amazing talent!!

We were not sure what to expect when we bought tickets for this show, but as usual the North Charleston POPS delivered a wonderful show. We are already thinking about season tickets next year.

  • Where's Christ?

by thetiredmom on 12/10/13North Charleston Performing Arts Center - North CharlestonRating: 3 out of 5

It was an enjoyable evening & the music was great - -but I do wish there were at least 1 religious song! Next year, please call it holiday music, because there was no CHRISTmas music at all.

Great concert! Very entertaining and fun! Got me in the Christmas spirit!

  • Beatles Pops Concert

by Peter324 on 3/25/13North Charleston Performing Arts Center - North CharlestonRating: 3 out of 5

A good show, but not stellar. That is to say, much of the music was from the later years and I prefer the earlier music of the group. Nevertheless, it was enjoyable.

Had an enjoyable evening, however, I thought the short clips of the movies were unnecessary. I think I was the probably one of the youngest in the crowd. The orchestra is full of some mighty talented musicians!

  • Great show.

We purchased these tickets for my inlaws and my mother in law got sick so we had to use the tickets. As it is not a type of show we would purchase tickets for, we were amazingly surprised that we enjoyed it. We were one of the youngest there!

  • Great night of music

by Anonymous on 1/21/13North Charleston Performing Arts Center - North CharlestonRating: 5 out of 5

We very much enjoyed the night of showtunes and the father/daughter guest performers were outstanding. Their duet of "Somewhere Out There" they dedicated the song to all the Fathers & Daughters in the audience. I was there with my daughter whose father died almost 5 years ago. It was one of their songs when she was a little girl. Very emotional for us.

We went to the first concert this fall and really enjoyed it. Because of scheduling conflict we were unable to attend the Christmas concert so were really looking forward to this one. For the most part, it was very good. I was disappointed in the quality of a few numbers. I've been to many Charleston Community Band concerts that were better and they are free. If this group wants to be successful, they must produce excellent sound. I'm not inclined to pay $30 when I can hear the same or better quality of music for free.

  • Mostly wonderful

by Joanie2 on 1/21/13North Charleston Performing Arts Center - North CharlestonRating: 4 out of 5

Enjoyed the selection of songs, and the vocalists were wonderful. Problems with being in tune in the brass in the Stars Wars number made listening to that one hard on the ears. The rest was delightful.

Perhaps a "guests of honor" group for each concert would be workable through school music programs. A student, a sibling and an accompaning adult could attend in a three-for-one special at the $25 price to fill empty seats.

The orchestra performance was great. They started with a medley of Christmas favorites and involved the audience with a sing along during the first half. Mr. Harris awed us with the sound and range of his voice during the second half. The Summerville singers did a great job as well.
