  • Gerald and Norman's great finale to the 24/7 tour!

by Dawash on 11/27/12PIGOTT AUDITORIUM - SEATTLERating: 5 out of 5

Gerald Albright and Norman Brown did not disappoint on their first collaborative effort with the 24/7 CD and the tour of the same name. The pair announced that Seattle was the final stop of the tour and they did not show any fatigue or lack of effort in their performances! Both are jazz stalwarts and shined both in playing songs from their CD and the highlight tunes from their respective solo careers. Gerald Albright's story behind his first solo effort and the playing that tune "So Amazing" was poignant and special. Norman Brown rocked the house in one of his big hits when he played the title track to his "West Coast Coolin'" CD. Gerald Albright was the ultimate showman commenting on his recent AARP status, but then went on to put in some major work on a medley of his hits and clowning with the audience. Norman kept up with Gerald's energy in his solo efforts. Each commented on the fact that they had known each other for 30 years, but this was their first collaborative effort. Let's hope that we do not have to wait so long for the second collaboration. The concert was great!

I had the pleasure of attending this show on my 26th wedding anniversary. The performance from the 2 of them was simply amazing. It was so hard for me to accept the fact that the concert was over and I had to leave , that';s how engaged, entertained and satisfied I was at the show.

Awesome show! Took my husband, who has always liked Norman's music, as a birthday gift. I never had an appreciation for his music until I saw him at this show. Enjoyed Richard Elliot as well. Will go again.

  • Elliot and Brown Injustice

by Ssst on 7/1/11The Pageant - St LouisRating: 2 out of 5

Such virtuoso musicians completely obscured by the pitiful sound system. I go to the Pageant because I expect good sound - this was tragic Elliot was on fire, so into his music, especially ' When a Man Loves a Woman' - the Sax rose above the muddy background noise so it could be heard. This one song definitely worth the price of admission.
