About

NOEL GALLAGHER'S HIGH FLYING BIRDS IN CONCERT:

Following the 2009 dissolution of pioneering Britpop band Oasis, primary songwriter and lead guitarist Noel Gallagher didn't give fans any time to lament his split from brother and longtime collaborator Liam. Instead he hit the ground running with his solo project Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds, a harder-edged continuation of his work with the late great band. Since then Noel has proven himself quite the frontman, impressing audiences around the globe with rollicking performances of tunes like "Dream On" and "Do the Damage". He throws in a few classic Oasis numbers like "Don't Look Back in Anger" and "Supersonic" for good measure, ensuring fans both old and new get to rock out to their favorite jams.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Noel Gallagher was born and raised in Manchester, England, where he had a fairly turbulent childhood. He picked up the guitar in his teens as a way to pass time while on probation for robbing a corner shop, imitating the songs he heard on the radio before moving on to songs of his own. He was expelled from high school at 15 and worked various construction jobs before striking up a friendship with Manchester band Inspiral Carpets and joining them as a roadie. Upon returning from the group's US tour he joined his brother Liam's band The Rain, a psych-tinged rock outfit that would eventually become Oasis. Noel and Liam made their debut as Oasis in 1994 with the album Definitely Maybe, a critical and commercial success that topped the UK Albums charts and spawned four popular singles. Their sophomore album (What's the Story) Morning Glory? was an even bigger smash, topping charts around the world thanks to instant classics like "Wonderwall" and "Champagne Supernova". All told, the band reached No. 1 in the UK with all seven of their albums before long-simmering fraternal tensions drove the brothers apart in 2009. Noel lost little time continuing his rock reign -- in 2010 he formed Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds, releasing a self-titled debut album to the top of the British charts the following year. With their sophomore album Chasing Yesterday generating buzz in 2015, the band has fans eagerly awaiting their next round on the road.

    Noel is the best!

by melomusic on 5/17/15Majestic Theatre Dallas - Dallas

His songs are great on their own, but the live versions are somehow even better! He's funny, and even throws in some Oasis classics.

    Noel Gallagher is a God!

by Nitro1102 on 5/13/15Civic Theatre - New Orleans

What an awesome show and even better second solo album. I must say....the crowd was into his show at the Civic Theatre in New Orleans. I was surprised how much they knew from his new album---a rarity in the United States. I didn't mind the 6 hour drive from Houston to Noel....hell, I've made two trips across the pond to see the genius! Can't wait to see him again tonight in Houston!

    Perfection

by Jungleland5 on 5/13/15Civic Theatre - New Orleans

This was a perfect show!! Incredible songs and Noel's voice is extremely powerful live. We drove ten hours and would do it again in a heartbeat. I won't miss another tour. He played about four oasis tunes. I may be in the minority but I hope oasis never gets back together because Noel front and center is as good as it gets.

    Amazing show!

by stalehoneybun on 5/13/15Civic Theatre - New Orleans

The atmosphere of this show was like none other I've ever been to! The place was packed, and everyone was so polite to each other, and everyone was there to have a good time and genuinely enjoy the music. Noel Gallagher showed up a few hours before the doors opened and signed autographs for those who were waiting in line. The opening act, Primal Scream, put on a great performance. It was a lot of fun watching them and they got the crowd pumped for Noel. Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds were PHENOMENAL! I enjoyed them from start to finish. Loved this show very much, and I would definitely enjoy going to see Noel Gallagher perform again. Go see this show!

I've loved Oasis for the past 20 years. Noel on his own is another level of greatness, proving that if it wasn't for his own genius, Oasis would have never been. His new music is unbelievable. Best concert I have ever been to. Ever.

    Better than Oasis

by Anonymous on 5/13/15Civic Theatre - New Orleans

Noel has grown as a musician and is my opinion is one of the greatest. The show was an excellent mix of sights and sounds with a pace that made you feel like you were there all night. It is a shame that modern radio didn't locally promote the show, nor plays his music because the intensity brought was as if he was in a stadium in Europe even though he was in a 2000 plus seat theater. It was his first time in New Orleans and by his admittance, it took way to long for him to come. I hope his time was enjoyable and he comes again!

    A surprise gift to myself!

by TheKuzzer on 5/11/15Sony Centre for the Performing Arts - Toronto

I bought these tickets as a gift to my boyfriend who is a massive Oasis & Noel Gallagher fan. When the show was over and I caught a moment of great gratitude from Noel before he left the stage, I was converted to a fan myself! His rendition of Champagne Supernova has ruined the album version, which I'm sure he'd be happy to know. It was rearranged to be a little heavier in sound to better suit the band and the slight changes to the melody of the lyrics made it all the better!

    Great Show!

by Anonymous on 11/7/12Ryman Auditorium - Nashville, TN

Noel put on a great show, especially if you know the main songs from his new album. He only plays a handful of Oasis songs (about 5/6) so don't think you are going to an Oasis concert.
