NOEL GALLAGHER'S HIGH FLYING BIRDS IN CONCERT:

Following the 2009 dissolution of pioneering Britpop band Oasis, primary songwriter and lead guitarist Noel Gallagher didn't give fans any time to lament his split from brother and longtime collaborator Liam. Instead he hit the ground running with his solo project Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds, a harder-edged continuation of his work with the late great band. Since then Noel has proven himself quite the frontman, impressing audiences around the globe with rollicking performances of tunes like "Dream On" and "Do the Damage". He throws in a few classic Oasis numbers like "Don't Look Back in Anger" and "Supersonic" for good measure, ensuring fans both old and new get to rock out to their favorite jams.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Noel Gallagher was born and raised in Manchester, England, where he had a fairly turbulent childhood. He picked up the guitar in his teens as a way to pass time while on probation for robbing a corner shop, imitating the songs he heard on the radio before moving on to songs of his own. He was expelled from high school at 15 and worked various construction jobs before striking up a friendship with Manchester band Inspiral Carpets and joining them as a roadie. Upon returning from the group's US tour he joined his brother Liam's band The Rain, a psych-tinged rock outfit that would eventually become Oasis. Noel and Liam made their debut as Oasis in 1994 with the album Definitely Maybe, a critical and commercial success that topped the UK Albums charts and spawned four popular singles. Their sophomore album (What's the Story) Morning Glory? was an even bigger smash, topping charts around the world thanks to instant classics like "Wonderwall" and "Champagne Supernova". All told, the band reached No. 1 in the UK with all seven of their albums before long-simmering fraternal tensions drove the brothers apart in 2009. Noel lost little time continuing his rock reign -- in 2010 he formed Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds, releasing a self-titled debut album to the top of the British charts the following year. With their sophomore album Chasing Yesterday generating buzz in 2015, the band has fans eagerly awaiting their next round on the road.

    Excellent show

    Excellent show on all levels - the setlist had a nice mix of Noel's HFB and Oasis material, and his band was quite good. Pretty generous setlist (around 20 tunes) and the show started almost on-time (ticket said 8:30 sharp; they went on at 8:45) and were done by around 10:30, which I love since it respects the fact that many of us have jobs and can't be out till all hours on a weeknight. Witty banter with the crowd and some cool neo-psychedelic projections during the songs added to the show.

    Noel Gallaghers High Flying Circus put on a fantastic show. The size of the Orpheum made the concert feel intimate yet raucous! The selection of music was well picked! A bit of old mixed in with new stuff!

    A FIVE STAR, AAAAA+++++ CONCERT from NOEL GALLAGHER'S HIGH FLYING BIRDS! BETWEEN THE ORPHUEM'S FINE ACOUSTICS AND THE SENSATIONAL SOUND MIX -- THIS SHOW HAD THE FINEST SOUND QUALITY I HAVE EVER HEARD AT ANY LIVE CONCERT -- ANYWHERE -- AND I'VE BEEN TO MORE THAN A FEW. ~~ THE BAND WAS TIGHT, TIGHT, TIGHT! THE SET-LIST WAS SO WELL CHOSEN, IT WAS ALMOST LIKE ENJOYING A LIVE "GREATEST HITS" ALBUM -- AS EACH AND EVERY SONG IS A GEM. ~~ ONE OF THE GREATEST CONCERTS i HAVE EVER SEEN. (...AND IT WAS MY 3rd SEEING NOEL GALLAGHER.)

    What can I say... Oasis was my favorite band so naturally Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds is phenomenal as well! The Majestic Theatre is a beautiful theatre to see a concert and there's plenty to do around downtown Dallas. This is the second time I've seen Noel Gallagher and his band and if they came back tomorrow I'd already have ordered tickets!

    Fantastic Show, Noel is still Amazing!!!!

    Noel was amazing as usual... The sound at the Orpheum was great. The only downfall is that the venue only took cash for drinks and the show started right at 8:30 so it seemed like a lot of people including myself missed the first 4-6 songs...

    It was amazing! The place is really small, so this give you the chance to be really close to the stage! Noel was GREAT! (Even though, he make a joke about it) His new album is soooo good!!! It was a great concert!!!

    Mad for it

    One of the best nights of my life. If you are a fan of his music you HAVE to see the hero himself. I just wish he would of played 'the right stuff', 'the importance of being idle', 'falling down', 'slide away', 'shout it out loud' and more. But if he played every song I love from him we would of been there for six hours

    Great performance to a very nice crowd, lots of songs from his two albums which is what I wanted, just 3 or 4 songs from Oasis. The only thing that prevented me from giving it 5 stars is the sound, it wasn't loud enough, I heard more from the crowd singing than from Noel! You could not hear the keyboards nor the wind instruments... Other than that, great energy and lots of fun!

    Such a fun and awesome show. Noel truly is a rockstar and had the crowd hooked from the first song to the end. He chatted with the crowd in between songs and was actually pretty funny. He's an amazing performer and the music was awesome. He brought in several Oasis songs to complement his outstanding solo work. I loved it!

    What more can I say, other than what is in my review title! What made the performance even better was Noel's interaction with the audience. He played a handful of oasis tunes, but played the majority of his new album "chasing yesterday". Brilliant album by the way! He also played quite a few tracks off if his first solo album. I have to say that in all of the concerts I have been to in the past 2 years, this one was the best. His show is about music,not pyrotechnics and all that glitz & glam. I would defenitly go see Mr. Gallagher play again. He is truly a gifted musician but more importantly an artist.

    Noel Gallagher get better with age. He has developed into an accomplished singer. His voice grows better with use and age which is counter intuitive. A solid back up band with a genius songwriter and you have got a fine evening of music and entertainment!

    So amazing! Noel Gallagher's high flying birds is a fantastic show. They mixed in Oasis tunes as well as newer album stuff. I have been a fan for over 20 years and this is the first time I have ever seen him. I was overjoyed with the quality of the show.
