About

Nine Inch Nails are a progressive, Grammy-winning industrial rock band composed of Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross. Formed in Cleveland, Ohio as a solo project for singer, songwriter and producer Trent Reznor in 1988, Nine Inch Nails have released 11 studio albums, six EPs and three remix albums, starting with 1989’s Pretty Hate Machine and breakout debut singles “Down In It” and “Head Like a Hole.” For 1992’s Broken EP, NIN reached No. 7 on the Billboard 200 while its standout record “Wish” won the Grammy for Best Metal Performance. In the midst of hitting No. 2 and No. 1 on the Billboard 200 for 1994’s The Downward Spiral and 1999’s The Fragile, respectively, NIN released Hot 100-charting singles “Closer” and “The Perfect Drug” and earned a second Best Metal Performance Grammy at the 1996 ceremony for “Happiness in Slavery.” Nine Inch Nails went on hiatus until the 2005 chart-topper With Teeth, then hit the Hot 100 again with singles “The Hand That Feeds” and “Only,” and later with “Survivalism" from their 2007 follow-up Year Zero. Longtime collaborator and English producer Atticus Ross became an official member of NIN in 2016, established with a trilogy of releases culminating in 2018’s Bad Witch. As composers, the duo have earned two Academy Awards, two Grammys and one Emmy. In 2020, Nine Inch Nails were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. NIN also composed the score for the 2025 film Tron: Ares.

  • Jane's Addiction still rocks

by teekaeo on 7/11/09Cricket Wireless Amphitheatre - Chula VistaRating: 5 out of 5

Went to the NINJA tour andexpected it to be one hell of a show, I was right. NIN opend up and played tunes off of all their albums including, head like a hole, wish, hurt, burn, and the becoming to say a few. There was a PA problem half way through the show but it didn't last too long. Trent bounced back with some profanity and kicked off terrible lie. I was very anxious to see how Jane's was going to sound like after all these years, and to follow up after Nine Inch Nails they would have to be amazing. Jane's opend up with one of my favorite tunes, three days and they sounded like they had never stopped playing together. Perry sounded great and so the the band, Dave's guitar solos were on the money and I couldn't have asked for more. They played tunes off of all their albums from pigs in zen to been caught steeling, from mountain song to stop. This was one show that I will remember for a long time.

  • Excellent

For the Cali dates, NIN opened and Janes closed the show. And Trent and the band were a really tough act to follow. They mixed it up and played songs that spanned their career...including "Burn" (my favorite) from the Natural Born Killers soundtrack. Only negative thing I could say was that the light show was way overpowering. Strobes in moderation can be cool, but this was definitely not moderation and I think half the audience walked away blinded. Aside from that, it was incredible. Janes was awesome too and Perry really did an outstanding job of being the frontman and interacting w/ the crowd. They opened w/ "3 Days" which for me was the highlight of the entire show. I was really stoked to see the complete original lineup (including Eric Avery back on bass) and they didn't miss a beat. Navarro was killing some guitar solos and the whole band was in great form- like they never left. They even played "And She Did" which I don't think I heard them play the last time I saw them at Lalapalooza 07. Overall, one of the best shows I've seen in a really long time!

  • Janes & NIN

by rmori on 7/11/09Cricket Wireless Amphitheatre - Chula VistaRating: 3 out of 5

Saw them in Chula Vista. NIN was up first and we missed the first song or two even though we were actually at the venue in plenty of time, because they only had one point of entry. The sound for NIN ended up being AMAZING, (after I heard Trent allude to the fact that it sucked on the first song). So NIN killed it. I wish i could say the same for Janes. Janes is my favorite band, I love them so...but their sound SUCKED! It was muffled and we were over to the right and just didn't feel a part of the action at all. I walked towards the center and it sounded a little better but I wasn't "allowed" to stay there. Perry was unfortunately a little behind the beat the entire time and with the exception of Whores and one or two others, they only played their most famous songs. I wanted to hear some more obscure stuff, older stuff or new stuff (or even just different arrangements would have been good). But mostly it was just the sound and our crappy seats that sucked. i still love Janes and will always grab an opportunity to go see them...but never again in an outdoor ampitheatre unless I have front row center seats!

  • Jane ROCKS!

by Hyacinth on 7/11/09Cricket Wireless Amphitheatre - Chula VistaRating: 5 out of 5

Excellent concert - NIN & JANE together! Venue is a long drive, but worth it, great accoustics, fun vibe!

  • NIN rocked

by Ruiner on 7/11/09Cricket Wireless Amphitheatre - Chula VistaRating: 4 out of 5

Well kiddies! The concert was great. NIN had a fantastic set and Jane's addiction was very entertaining. Perry Ferral is a great front man. My one complaint would be the crowd....totally lame! No one really seemed to be into the concert and the effort that was being put forth by the musicians. If you are going to be indifferent...DONT SHOW UP!

  • Street Swepper ROCKED the show!

by Sam86 on 7/11/09Cricket Wireless Amphitheatre - Chula VistaRating: 5 out of 5

Simply loved it! I went all the way to California from Costa Rica and it was sooo worth it!!!! Loved Street Sweeper, loved NIN, and loved Janes Addiction. The place was simply perfect for the event! Excellent show!!!!!

  • NIN & SSSC rocked the Journal Pavilion!!

    by j0hann3sburg87123 on 7/11/09Journal Pavilion - AlbuquerqueRating: 5 out of 5

I totally enjoyed the show! SSSC was a wonderful opening act. Unfortunately, had to leave before JA came on.. so overall it was cool and rocked!!!!

  • NIN is awesome!!! My favorite band!

by tobyoneknoby on 7/11/09Cricket Wireless Amphitheatre - Chula VistaRating: 5 out of 5

I really wish that NIN was the headliner. It was a wonderful show that just made me happy. I love NIN! They are definitely my favorite. Jane's Addiction was pretty good also but really should have opened for NIN.

  • Nine Inch Nails blew the house!

by Arios on 7/11/09Cricket Wireless Amphitheatre - Chula VistaRating: 5 out of 5

This was my first time seeing NIN and it was a blast. Just when things were kicking off sound was lost at the beginning of "Terrible Lie", which kind of killed the momentum. They played a good mix of songs such as "The Becoming", "The Fragile", "La Mer." Trent was ever the consistent show man giving his all to the crowd. They played for an hour and a half and I wished they kept on playing. I stayed for three songs from Jane's Addiction and left, not that I dislike JA but I came to see NIN and that's the truth. I feel they are better suited to playing indoors than out. Overall I enjoyed myself and hope to see them again.

  • great show, one of the best..

by urmother on 7/11/09Cricket Wireless Amphitheatre - Chula VistaRating: 5 out of 5

always wanted to see janes addiction and they were amazing live.. loved nin for years and almost went once before but plans fell through, got to see them this time and they were just as good as janes addiction..

  • NIN and Janes Addiction UNBELIEVABLE!!

by Hayden77 on 7/11/09Cricket Wireless Amphitheatre - Chula VistaRating: 5 out of 5

Well the sound was great, the venue is really good, the price was amazing, especially for such talent. Anyone who hasn't seen NIN in person, you should really check them out. One of those bands much better live.

  • Jane's Addiction tore it up!

by nellsonic on 7/11/09Cricket Wireless Amphitheatre - Chula VistaRating: 5 out of 5

Jane's Addiction came with all the power and strength one would have hoped for all these years later. Friends who had been following them since the beginning said that it was perhaps the best show they'd ever seen from them. NIN was very good, but not having a musician dedicated to just providing the keyboard sounds took some of the uniqueness away from their sound. Trent was also a bit hoarse at times, but spot on in others. Friends who had, once again, seen NIN many times said it was the weakest show they had seen from them, and that they usually have been awe-inspiring in the past. Still very good. Yep, very good was the way I would sum of their part of the show. A great double bill for sure. I go to 40+ shows a year, and this was in the top five of 2009 so far.

  • NIN/JA show was awesome

by 36JCNeptune on 7/11/09Cricket Wireless Amphitheatre - Chula VistaRating: 4 out of 5

Two very different acts: NIN and Jane's Addiction. NIN has some tech problems during Terrible Lie but that's typical for them. They seemed to get off to a bumpy start but after 3-4 songs settled in. Trent Reznor's voice was a little weak, maybe a little strained but still giving full effort. Ended with a great version of Hurt and did I'm Afraid of Americans by David Bowie. Jane's was standard greatness but it could have been 1998. Same songs done very well and Perry Farrell is still one of the great front men of rock.

  • NIN was awsome!!!

by kikefly on 7/11/09Cricket Wireless Amphitheatre - Chula VistaRating: 5 out of 5

trend was amazing!! one of the best rock stars!!!!

  • Jane's Addiction the way they were meant 2 B seen!

by WinterSun on 7/11/09Journal Pavilion - AlbuquerqueRating: 5 out of 5

With all the original members and all the old school songs, this was hands down the best Jane's Show since the early 90's. I loved it, non stop badass jams!

  • NIN nailed. Jane not so addicting.

by KingJ on 7/11/09Cricket Wireless Amphitheatre - Chula VistaRating: 4 out of 5

First time I've ever seen NIN live and the show was amazing. Trent Reznor, at 44, still delivers the goods. The best song was Head Like A Hole, from his first album. Every single person in the stands was singing - at one point he stopped singing and just let the crowd do their thing. Such intense energy. The hair on the back of my neck stood up. NIN played for about an hour and a half straight with no breaks and then went off. Immediately they began to prepare for Jane's Addiction, which pissed my friend and I off. Since when is NIN opening for a much lesser band? Very dissapointing. We listened for about three songs and realized JA is even less talented now than they were back in their prime (which was, what, 15 years ago?) Without incentive to stay, we left - along with about 1/3 of the audience. I was surprised more didn't leave. (Nothing personal against JA, they just aren't really my cup of tea. In fact I don't even like tea.) I've since heard that this is the last tour that Reznor is going to do. Then again, how many people say "This is it. The End." and then come back later? It would be such a shame if NIN doesn't come back. The group is too talented and the fans are too rabid. I'm already waiting to buy my tickets for the next concert! Hope to see you all there!

  • NIN was spectacular!! =)

by jenj619 on 7/11/09Cricket Wireless Amphitheatre - Chula VistaRating: 5 out of 5

This was my first NIN/Jane's Addiction concert and they did not disappoint! A great performance by both. I can't wait to see NIN in concert again.

  • NIN, Street Sweeper, and Jane's Addiction amazing!

by himluvr13 on 7/11/09Cricket Wireless Amphitheatre - Chula VistaRating: 5 out of 5

Trent and Co was amazing as always...Tom Morello's new band street Sweeper Social Club was also really great. If you haven't had a chance to see NIN, I highly recommend it. Probably one of the best live shows I have ever been to.

  • amazing NIN/JA show!!

by ssgtwife on 7/11/09Cricket Wireless Amphitheatre - Chula VistaRating: 5 out of 5

first time seeing NIN in concert, and was not let down!! amazing light show and array of songs from their albums. energy was def. felt! only gripe is that i thought/wished they would have played more songs. perry farrell kept the crowd involved and entertained and their show was very visual. would go again!!
